I have it, have had it from about 8 weeks and its getting worse (presumably as baby and everything else gets bigger)
HOLY F*N S*T IT HURTS SO BADLY!!
Sometimes if i bend or sit and it pinches suddenly it hurts so sharply i scream out loud.
Right now i am having a mad attack, my leg won't stop having these stabbing pains and i am going to cut my leg off if it doesnt stop soon. People say they can see it happen - i go white then red then normal, repeat for every stab of red hot burning pain.
There has got to be some stretches or something i can do to release the nerve and make it all better.
I should see a chiropracter but the local guy won't treat me as i'm pregnant. Would need to travel 8hrs return to a city to get it done and would probably need a few visits right?
Help! I'm dying!

owie I had some sciatic nerve pain last time, but nothing like you have!
An alternative treatment might be physio or osteopath, and seeing as it's pregnancy related, there might even be a free maternity physio you can see? (although may not be any more convenient?)
I do imagine it is going to take on-going/long-term treatment though.

Second the osteo or physio, but you definitely want someone who is familiar/experienced with PG.

I'm trying to get in on a physio at the moment - on the phone - but everyone backs off when i tell them i'm pregnant. My mom apparently had the same problem when pregnant with me and she had to just bear it. The nearest is Timaru, after that i'd have to travel to Chch and i won't bother them just now, i think they have enough problems!!

Phone your mw/ob they should know who will treat you in your area.....
My physio massaged me over a couple of sessions but what actually got rid of it was swimming... though we are pretty sure Jakes head was firmly pressing down on mine and when I went swimming it stretched my abdomen out and he was able to get into a better position. I couldnt walk I was in so much pain!
I got stuck in the bath once too, DH wasnt home and I went to get out and yup OUCH.. had to sit there and wait for him to lift me out. Thankfully he wasnt too far behind me!

I feel your pain! Though I ddint get this until I was 30 weeks+m but it had me in tears every single night, sometimes I couldnt even sit on the loo!
I used to use the wheat sack and also get on my hands and knees when I had an attack(unless I was out lol) also, driving was scary as Id get it then sometimes.
I had it really bad :(
I was told that in pregnancy there is really nothing you can do as its the baby pressing on the nerve, so really no relief until baby is born.
Heres my old thread I staretd when i had it!

Thanks Sheza, i didnt search properly - probably because i can't spell and i have a spelling mistake in my title even!
The awesome news is that its not going to get any better until he's born! Swimming sounds aces, may have to go to the pool next time i'm in town.
Screw body confidence, right?

I would disagree - it can get better (though not cured) with good treatment but it's hard when you're rural to access people who are experienced with PG-related conditions. Swim when you can but next time you're in town, try and see a physio or osteo - they can give you some specific exercises and stretches that might help.

I agree with Fliss... it wont go away but it can be a lot better! After going to a physio mine was much better! (as in I couldnt walk when i went in and I could hobble when i left the first session).
Hope swimming helps.... it really does for me, infact the occassional sciatic pain I have been getting with this pg has been much better since DS started swimming lessons and I am not even swimming.. just moving around in water. But I am a water baby and find it very relaxing.

I have it now and Im not PG and its driving me NUTS!!! I have the pain from hte minute I wake in the AM to the minute I go to bed at night. I've had it since about 3 months post pregnancy (I never got it during pregnancy) and I did about 6 sessions of physio, which did nothing!! So now Im seeing an Osteo and am up to session 3 now (I see her 2-3 weekly). Its still doing nothing so I totally feel your pain.
I havent tried swimming, so might give that a go, thanks for the suggestion Mel.
My Osteo has suggested yoga or pilates, but not sure if thats something you want to do during pregnancy.

Westiesgirl, I found it takes about 3 weeks of regular osteo and then it "clicks" and I get a significant reduction in pain. FX that works for you.

Seeing an Osteo fixed mine - but one session might not be a miracle cure, you may need to go regularly to stay on top of it.

What is this magic injection!?
Another lovely lady here found me some stretches, thank god. Today i'm home sick curled up trying to appease the nerve.
Maybe if i treat it good it'll leave me alone.
