Hi ladies,

Is 34 - 35 weeks too early to buy maternity bras?  When did you get yours (and did it turn out to be the right time?).  My boobs have gone up one cup size during pregnancy, so I'm suspicious that they might still be getting ready to blossom away, and don't want to go buy bras that end up being useless for breastfeeding, but also don't want to be bra-less when baby arrives!!

I got mine fitted 3 days before I went into labour with Maya (left it a bit late ) but the best time is around 7 mths, so you should be fine.

I got 2 maternity bras for $17.50 each from the Bendon Factory shop yesterday so if there's one near you, check it out! They've got 30% off maternity bras, plus they offer a fitting service.

I got fitted for my bras with Kiya at about 35 weeks, and they were great.

I went to use them again when I was expecting Josiah... and they were too big! I went and got some different (smaller) ones after he was born... am wearing them now and suspect they are going to be too small so when I'm about 35 weeks I'm going to get fitted again.

I got fitted for one on Sat. The lady said its best to wait another few weeks (Im 32 weeks), but thought it would be good to start wearing them as I have heard u shouldnt be wearing bras with "bones" in. I also got a $10 one from Farmers, but thought that it didnt fit right, but the lady who fitted me at the other shop pointed out that the area under my breasts is a lot bigger now than it will be after having bubs, so I should have the strap on the last, or second last hook,...and then will be able to pull it right in after bubs is born.

They say any time after 33 weeks is good. And to go up 2 cup sizes from your normal size (I guess one more from your preggo size)

Hi Andie,

I just brought somematernity bras about 2 weeks ago. I ended up buying one size bigger and one cup size bigger. The women that fitted them for me said that should be the right size by the time I have bubs.

I bought my first maternity bras at 6 months preg and that ended up being the right size. I like the sports type maternity bras at Farmers, they are the MORE brand and I are not even that expensive.

I checked with my midwife yesterday and she thought 35 weeks (which I'll be as I bra-shop tomorrow) should be bout right for getting them.  The boobies won't fit it nicely for a couple of days when my milk first comes in, but that's temporary (hmmm... hope it's really cold then so I can wear lots of layers to conceal the ill-fitting bra!!).  I'm so going to miss my faithful underwires... alas.  Horray for Bendon sales though!

ON the topic. has anyone got a favorite cotton lined one with THIN shoulder straps they could recommend. The ones I were given a re great but have these really thick and wide straps which are so ugly and show through everything.

Like busy mum I like the $10 farmers M/Bra's. I use them along with others but find them more comfy!!

Yeah, I like the $10 Farmers ones too! I actually found them better than the Bendon ones I'd bought when expecting Kiya.

Yup Farmers ones rock and they also do a Maternity Singlet Bra thingee. I picked up a couple of those also.

I must admit to buying mine very early on becuase my chest seemed to explode in the first weeks and was so achy. I tried on everything and only maternity bras were comfy! I couldn't stand underwire as they hurt me more plus I'd already heard they can contribute to infectections due to how they can dig in etc.

I haven't changed size again so hopefully my early buying spree will last me through out but if not at least Farmers is cheap and comfy!

I am with you paws, I started wearing mine early because my boobs were so sore when I got pregnant that they were the only comfortable ones to wear. Will buy more closer to due date though. certainly hope boobs haven't grown anymore (I feel they are big enough :-)
