I have yet to talk to my midwife, but just had my 19 week scan and they said that babies femur and abdominal circumference (AC) is measuring small.
I am really worried. Did anyone else have this?
Thanks

How small is "small"?
I think its important to remember that there is a fair amount of room for error with scans... a couple of mm's can make a huge difference to what percantile the measurements are in....
Did you get a copy of the report? Did they mention a repeat scan in a couple of weeks???
If you have a copy of the report I would give your mw a call this morning and go over it with on the phone. No point worrying yourself silly if there is no need!
My first was "small" he was above average at our 20 week scan but at a scan to check position at 34 weeks it was apparent that at some point he had stopped growing. It was very scary to hear so I can understand how you are feeling! His growth picked up again and by the time he was born he was fine (still "small" but healthy).
Good luck hun, will keep fx that everything is fine and you just have a petite baby

Hi, did they define what they meant by small? I've had the same comment made before & found out that it's considered within "normal" to be measuring 2 weeks either side of your edd at an 18-20wk scan. All of my girls have measured small at the anatomy scans & yet they've been 9lb2oz (42wks), 7lb2oz (38wks), & 7lb7oz (38wks), so none of them ended up being really small. There's also a huge margin of operator error too, so unless your lmc is concerned I'd try not to worry, =).

We had the opposite issue. DD was measuring big for dates, right up to 38 weeks. The scan was way out though. 38 weeks she was supposed to be 3.8kg according to the scan. Finally delivered at 40+2 weighing 3.86kg. There's a large margin of error, a large 'normal' range and as long as everything else checked out ok then I'd try not to worry - easier said than done though I know! Also, any chance your dates might be out a few days? Chat to your MW though - that's what she's for. GL.

agree with everyone else - find out exactly what they mean.
my guy is measuring about two weeks ahead of himself but thats normal and should even out (apparently.)
I sure if it was a problem they would have booked you in immediatly for further scans - but call your LMC to discuss your concerns.

Actually the will have advised on the scan report if they think another scan is needed (normally in 2 weeks time) and your lmc will still need to refer you. No point rescanning a few days later as it wont paint a clear picture of growth.

Thanks everyone.
I spoke briefly to my LMC and I am booked in for another scan in a couple of weeks, so I guess I have to wait and see.

Thats what i meant, but you said it clearer - i had a problem on my scan and they rebooked me for 4 weeks time on the spot. I didnt mean that they'd say come back tomorrow - i hope that wasnt too confusing!
