Just wondering what other people's experiences have been like being induced second (or more) time around. Did it go more smoothly/quickly, etc??
I'm now a week overdue with #2 and am going into hospital to discuss (and perhaps start) induction tomorrow. I was induced at 38.5 weeks with DS due to medical complications and had a terrible time - ended up being very protracted over three days and left me feeling quite traumatised. I was hoping to avoid that this time around, but looks like I'm heading towards induction again... at least on my side this time is the fact that this baby has reached and passed his due date.

My friend had an induction with her first, she had a horrible 3 day labour , so with her second she decided she wanted to avoid induction at all costs.
She went very overdue , but was her Ob monitored her and she had a date for induction, she just rang and cancelled it (you can do that )
she went into labour naturally and had a very smooth quick birth and gave birth to a healthy happy little boy .
And I know another lady , who had a 48 hour labor with her first and a horrible time of it, and a 12 hour induced labour with her second.
Remember your body has done this before,so its less likely to take as long

I had a hellish induction the first time (4 days with lots of complications, induced at 41+5) and this time have said no induction till 42 weeks.
I asked the same question on another forum and most people (probably 80%+) said their second one was better and quicker than the first.
Have you got any feedback about what your body is doing at the moment - what your cervix is like etc? Mine was up high, posterior and closed tight as which is one reason it was so long. If your cervix is starting to make moves, then it might be more positive as your body is already doing stuff on its own. It may be that b/c your induction happened quite early, your body just wasn't ready.
How would you feel about waiting another week to see what happened?

That's re-assuring to hear the feedback you got Flissty on the other forum.
My mw did an internal yesterday and nothing much was happening with my cervix, etc - it had started to soften but that was it. I think my first experience was partly so bad because my body just wasnt ready.
I'm really anxious about leaving things too much longer - I have two EDDs (as couldn't exactly remember LMP) - according to my dating scan at 6wks my EDD was 31.08.10, which now makes me 8 days overdue. There are also a number of other family/personal reasons that are making life difficult being overdue and making me anxious about leaving things too long... as much as I want to avoid induction again I want a happy and healthy baby. I guess I'll see what happens when I talk to the Obs tomorrow...

My sister had two inductions and her 2nd was much quicker and easier than the 1st. Hopefully things start moving soon as being overdue isn't much fun.

I've been induced both times due to labour not progressing after my waters broke.
The first was AWFUL. My son was born 12 hours after the drip was turned on. The contractions hit so hard and fast and i felt really out of control of the whole situation. So i ended up with an epi which i really hadn't wanted. It ended up being a ventouse birth as i was exhausted after 1hr 45mins pushing. He also had his hand beside his face. I tore twice, the worst being internal, lost 2 litres of blood, then had AWFUL vomiting that just wouldn't stop. It was a horrible experience and i didn't really get to hold him for about an hour after he was born which is when i finally got to feed him. I was falling asleep by that stage.
Second one was WAY better. 5 hours from when the drip was turned on, 3.5 hours established labour, 15 mins pushing. I managed with just the gas and just had a couple of grazes. I stuffed my face then had a shower just after i had her. lol. Was much nicer. The hour before she was born was bloody painful, there was a 1cm lip of cervix over her head so had to just keep breathing with the gas through the contractions which were 1 min apart at that stage. So i lost the plot a little. lol. But overall it was a good birth.
