I was wondering how everyone's getting on with the 2-1 transition? We seem to be doing OK. If I don't get an early waking, we are doing bed at 10.30-10.45 and sleeping around 2 hours 2.15 hrs. On early wake days its a two nap day, with the second being a stroller sleep as refuses cot in pm. Generally sleeping around 12 hours o/n.

Still a bit hit and miss, but we are doing OK.

I used to put DS down at 9am-10am but he decided not to sleep, he'd just play. and then his afternoon sleep 12.30-2.30.
But when I stopped putting him in his cot at 9am he'd be soooo grumpy and then only sleep for 90mins in the afternoon. He has come right now though, after about 6 weeks of short day naps.
I used to try and give him a short nap at 4pm if he'd had a bad afternoon sleep. which sometimes worked, but not usually.
For DS it was something he just grew out of I guess and got used to being awake for longer.

Yep...that's exactly what happened here, 9.30 and 1.30 sleeps for 1 1/2 hours and then bang - refused pm sleep. One sleep is mostly working and I reckon when she walks will sleep longer.

We suddenly decided afternoon nap time was now play time a couple of months ago, so I have pushed her morning sleep out as much as I can (like you its usually bedtime around 10.30-11am) then she'll sleep for a couple of hours, and then its all go til about 6pmish... makes 'zoo hour' a whole lot more hectic as I'm trying to sort dinner out for everyone, as well as get her fed, cleaned up and off to bed!

Been handy though as it means no being rudely awoken to pick up big brother from school!

Sounds about right with us too, some days she wants a second nap others she doesn't, and we just have to push on through on those days - generally if I keep her (DD2) well fed, watered & distracted we're good, and then a bath after dinner sees her through to bedtime quite nicely. I sometimes wonder when it will become a more regular thing (just one nap) but then figure it's not really hurting us to just go with the flow. If she's really tired she'll sleep, if not - she won't

We've been quite lucky as Ryan just randomly decided to switch to one nap. I remember it clearly cause it was a Monday and I tried to put him down at 9.30 as per the usual but he refused until around 11 and we haven't looked back. Down for 1.5 to 2 hours and then up until bedtime around 7.30.

Sometimes he'll have the odd day or short sleep in the car which does throw things out but I'm feeling pretty lucky. (Ryan had bad reflux and didn't sleep through the night until 11 months though so I feel like I was bound to have something be easy )

We had two days of one nap a day which was around 10am-12 noon but now DS is back to two naps a day at 8:30am-10am & 1pm-2.30pm.
I guess he'll start the one nap transition up again at a later date.

Not well here. Ashley is doing 2 30min sleeps a day. Yesterday she only took one nap and...you guessed it...30mins. I was the short-nap-nazi with my first, I just wouldn't accept a short nap so know all about extending them, timing it all right etc but no matter what I try I can not get Ash to nap for longer. It is hard work. She is having 1 or 2 bottles in the night, every single night too so it appears we have some full on sleep issues. I really don't know what was gone wrong as we've always followed "the rules" so to speak.

Hmm, the last two days my 14mo Son has refused his normal 2pm nap, so we've gone out or played at home then he'll want to have a nap about 4pm'ish.  Luckily it hasn't effected his 7pm bedtime.

He tried to go from 2-1 naps a few months ago which lasted for about 2 weeks, but then went back to 2 naps.  Maybe he's ready for 1 nap again.... Will try putting him down a bit later tomorrow and see if that helps.

Don't they just love confusing us by changing all the time
