My son has always been able to self settle inbetween sleep cycles but now all of a sudden since turning 5 months, he can't or won't!
He sleeps through the night beautifully and we don't hear a peep out of him till 7am, but day sleeps are another whole story.
I put him down for this sleeps during the day and he will go for one sleep cycle and thats it. I give him a chance to resettle but he refuses. The last few days I have just gotten him up as he is so upset and far too over it to think about sleeping.
If I hold him, he would drop off to sleep but there's no way I'm getting into that habit!
Any suggestions of how I can reteach him to self settle? I work from home full time while also being a full time mum so its rather important!
Thanks girls

Hi lilliz
Have you had a look at http://www.thesleepstore.co.nz/Sleep+Information/Babies+4+to+12+months/Teaching+your+baby+to+self-settle.html - The Sleepstore - Self Settling Their advice is awesome.
It mentions this - Once babies are over 5 months, their sleep cycles change considerably. Rather than drift in and out of light sleep throughout the night, babies now wake fully between sleep cycles.
So it's very normal, hoping you may be able to get some good advice from it!

T did this at around the same age - he went from having 2 hour naps during the day to 45 minutes ones. He was always happy when he woke up, so I just went with it, but then about 3 weeks later he went back to sleeping for 2 hours at a time again. So for him it was just a phase.
