Ok I've noticed the last few days DD has been leaning on things (stairs, stroller, coffee table) where her pubic bone is resting on the hard edge. She will stay this way for quite a few minutes. What the heck is she doing?! Wondering if she's feeling the pressure ... couldn't find anything when I googled (apart from the typical sex sites coming up!!??)

Anyone had this situation present themselves?

Not bothered by it, just curious!

There have been quite a few views and no comments so decided I wouldn't read and run.

I have boys so don't really know the answer but my guess would be that she feels the pressure and either likes it or is interested by it, I am sure a very normal part of developing. It is probably the equivalent of a boy 'exploring' which is what we get *sigh*

its probably just a height thing... things like tables just naturally rest there when she leans... when she gets taller it will be different. kids do things just because they can or it feels nice ...

thanks for the replies. thought she was just resting per say, but she keeps her body rigid. looks uncomfortable but mustn't be!

figured the pressure might be taking pressure off, like if she had a sore tummy? But can't figure out, probably stop as quick as the behaviour arrived.

gotta love 'em!!

she could be experimenting with her balance even if she is staying rigid...

probably just balancing! but if, in years to come, the behaviour turns into stimulating then that would be when to intervene. I'm kinda with Linzy, it's likely just a sensation she likes which is all part of development... my little man always has to check out his bits at nappy time
or is it coinciding with her toilet times?

I taught a couple of girls in early primary who would do a lot of rubbing and stimulating - we talked about appropriate places and times (ie not at school!) from memory.

i did human developement a few years ago and apparently in the early years boys play with their bits (like in the bath) and girls often lean on stuff on kinda wiggle when they are sitting down cos they like the feeling. it is a normal thing and they always grow out of it. just like the baby stage where absolutely everything goes in their mouth. just experimenting with their bodies and learing bout things around them

My sister used to do that, she started to wiggle soon after... perfectly normal behaviour. Like boys playing with penis, girls also experiment.

My sister doesnt do it anymore

From what I've read on UK parenting forums it sounds like experimenting with what feels nice, she might find a favourite object and start a little wiggle, all perfectly normal

Some girls are very much more aware of the nice feelings, a friend of mine remembers very distinct stimulation on the jungle gym at kindy ( not sure I could definitely say it was an O from my memory of the story) .
