Hi There, Got some question's to ask

1- DS is a very good night sleeper, we have no problems with getting him to sleep at 7pm each night and he sleep's through untill about 6am each morning, but during the day he stay's up for about 2 hours and then goes back down for a sleep, i can tell he is tired at that point but just about each time i go to put him to sleep he just scream's untill he fall's asleep, ive tried rocking, singing, movement , just about everything but it is so heartbreaking seeing him cry like that each time untill he goes to sleep. does anyone have any idea's on what i could do ?

2- DS also has some dry skin ( i think it is) on his forehead just above his eyebrow's, ive tried getting it off with a flannel but it dosnt seem to come off, does anyone know how i could get this off ?

Any advice on either question would be much appreciated

1) try putting him down 10-15mins earlier and see if that helps. He may just be a tiny bit over tired and using his crying to wind down.
2) Rub a little almond oil on the dry patches or put a few drops of almond oil in his bath. Oour boy had dry skin when he was little and we bathed him in almond oil and water made such a big difference.

if he is up for 2 hours before you try to put him back to bed he may be overtired... try only keeping him up for about an hour.

i never did anything with the dry skin on my kids.

I agree with the others, Id try putting him down earlier.

For dry skin I used aqueous cream, as other ones seemed to make my kids spotty!

I have tried putting him down earlier but for some reason he is very stubborn and will scream and scream untill he is tired enough to go to sleep, even tho i know he is already tired

Also when i rock him to sleep sometime's it work's but when i go to slip him into his cot he wakes up and scream's

He is teething atm but ive tried giving him pamol, but dont want to give it to him everyday so i use teether's and bonjela and all that but he still seem's the be having teething pain's aswell ,and this has only happened since he has started teething, but he just scream's and scream's sometime's and i know it's not wind so im abit stuck on what it could be or weather it's just a age thing and naughty thing or weather he is in pain with his teeth

Dry skin/eczema is clearing in our house with Fatty Lemnis cream. For the last two days we've lathered it all over her before her bath as a soap substitute and put it on again after her bath as a moisturiser and it's working really well. It was prescribed for me by the doctor, but I'm sure you could buy it over the counter.

The oils didn't really work for us...actually, we only tried olive oil as we worried (probably hypochondiacally so) about nut allergies with almond oil...

The fatty cream has inadvertently cleared up her cradle cap as well.

Have you got the head of the cot/bassinette raised? This might help if he is teething
When you put him into the cot asleep after rocking, how soon after he goes to sleep do you do it? Maybe try waiting another minute or two, and make sure you lower him slowly into the cot. I often stay as close to Ben as possible when I lower him into the cot and stay close until I have my arms out from under him, it seems to work best that way

Have you tried a teething necklace (amber beads). We never had this with DD#1 but I swear that teething has been better with DD#2 because of this. They can be found really easily on Trade Me or at a chemist.

Also at this age babies like to be able to suck on something to self soothe themselves. If he can't find his thumb then maybe try a dummy. For us DD#1 sucked her thumb but DD#2 uses a dummy. A real sanity saver either way. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get bubs to take the dummy bu well worth either encouraging the thumb or dummy.

My DS went through a phase where he cried before EVERY nap, it was horrible. BUT he seemed to grow out of it. Now more often than not, he goes to bed easily without any tears!

The dry skin sounds a bit like cradle crap. Try moisturising HEAPS and it should clear up.

Has he always done this or is it a recent thing?

My son went through a stage of this too but did get over it and nows goes down fine, so whatever the cause it is unlikely to go on forever. He's too young to be being naughty but like others have said is prob either over tired or in discomfort due to teething. It can be hard to get that sleep window right and for some kids there is no right and they'll cry any time, well that seemed to be the case for my boy. It can be hard but sometimes you've just gotta do it.

Could the dry skin be cradle cap type? In that case use some almond/olive oil and rub it in to the skin to soften the flakes, leave for a few hours then use flannel to rub the skin off.

He did when he was younger but then stopped but has now started again On the odd occasion he will go down without a cry but most of the time he will have a cry first.

I went to the doctor with DS the other day and they said the dry skin was apparently Excema, so maybe that could be causing some discomfort aswell as the teething, it isnt bad, but what he does have might annoy him abit, i do put cream on it all the time tho
