Hi there, I am expecting my first baby end of November and would like to mainly use re-usable nappies but there are so many options.
I have been recommended both honeychild and itti bittis but I wonder if anyone has used Real Nappies before and if they'd recommend them. The reason I'm leaning towards Real Nappies is because you can throw out the liners which catch solids.
Would love to hear anyone's thoughts

You can buy flushable liners that you can use with any MCN system.

I use the old flat cloth nappies that most of us would have been in as babies. They have been very sucessful with my one-year-old, and he hasn't had nappy rash until the last couple of teeth has had come through.
They are so easy to use! And it's the best thing to see them blowing in the wind on the washing machine. They are so quick to dry, and a lot cheaper to set up with at the start. I think I bought 36 nappies (maybe $120) all up. I haven't bothered with liners. One becasue they're relatively expensive, and two the #2s come off pretty easily anyway.
I'd say give it a go. It will save you a heck of a lot of money in the long run!

Here is a TM auction for some flushable liners.

You can buy them at baby factory also (not that specific brand) and probably other baby shops too.
I've used them and I always cut them in half lenghtways as they are quite big.
I also use homebrand liners, not flushable but youcan wash them and reuse them a couple of times!!

I have real nappies at the moment just to get started with cloth - they've been good. I was initially concerned that they retained quite a bit of moisture next to the skin, but we've been using a good barrier cream consistently and haven't had any nappy rash at all. I recommend the Snappi too - it's such a good wee invention. We are just using them part time at the moment - use huggies over night. I am probably not going to do use real nappies as she gets bigger - but will invest in some other cloth nappies, now that I know that we manage cloth fine!
We don't use a liner at the moment - we're on spetic tank so can't flush them here. But as people have noted, you can use liners with any system!

I've been using Real Nappies on DH for 14 + months (since he was a newborn) and I love them. I have some other brands in my stash, but the RN's are the ones I use the most. We've been using liners since he was on solids and can't go a poo change without them. I have tried a couple but ended up going with the Real Nappies brand ones that I got on sale from their site http://www.realnappies.co.nz/cloth-nappy-accessories/bioliner-flushable-diaper-liners-roll-of-100.html - here .
