Im wearing maternity bras at the moment Ive got 2 motherlove ones from Bendon and one made by Hestia.
They are good but I'm finding they are just so not supportive at all. I was a 12DD before pregnancy and have moved into a 14DD which fits ok but they are uncomfortable because they are just not supporting enough. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good maternity bra that is a bit more supportive? I have heard of flexiwire bras but don't know where to get them? Or is feeling a bit unsupported just part of things? Also what should I do about getting a fitting for a feeding bra- I live on the North Shore in Auckland- any suggestions on a place to go? | Belly beyond has a flexiwire cake lingerie bra called plum pudding. I find any bra without some kind of wire unsupportive. I'm biggerthan you. (h cup) and I order my bras from aus as they have a better flexiwire range |

I've just bought some hot milk ones from Breastmates. They are really comfortable and much more supportive than my old ones. They have increased their range to include larger cups. Check them out online. (google breastmates) ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

I didn't like the HotMilk ones once I was actually BFing. They just didn't feel "right".
Avokado in Newmarket might be a good shop to go visit. Also BlestBras (website based in Aus) have larger size BFing bras. ------------- Mum to two wee boys |

I really liked Hot Milk bras, the ones for bigger breasted women lol
I also had a few triumph (sp) ones. They were the best for support. -------------

I got some Womama ones on sale and love them.
The big challenge is knowing what size you'll be. Pre-pregnancy I was a 10-12D, went up to a 12F during my pregnancy, went up another cup size immediately after having my daughter (but couldn't be bothered going out to buy yet another bra) then at about 8 weeks dropped back down to a 10-12E. ------------- Adoring Mum to Talisin 8/9/11 and Kiara 18/01/10 |

I went to SMith and Caugheys and got gthe Triumph sweet mamma N bras and LOVE them.. I have a couple of different triumph styles. They can be purchased from farmers. The everyday style I'm wearing at the moment are only around the $35 mark and I find them quite good (16D or 16DD) but the more expensive rounds (around $60) are wayyyyyyyyyy more supportive. I can't recall the style name sorry and many farmers don't have them. I had mine fitted (by a lovely old nana type) in one of the main Farmers in Wellington.
I suggest going somewhere where you can get fitted - you don't need a maternity bra before bubs is born, there are some VER Y supportive non-wire bras out there, but maternity will be so much easier after bubs gets here. You will more than likely change sizes after your milk comes in (practically everyone I know has) Hope you find something, nothing like feeling too free. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Hi I'm also on the North Shore. Went up to Silverdale the other day and got a couple of breast feeding bra's from the bendon outlet. Think they will do fittings up there if you went during the week (weekends get busy). There is also another lingerie outlet store up there which have quite a good selection of bras but a bit more expensive.
I'm in a 12E at the moment (up from an 8E), but I was happy to fit myself. |

MamaMore Maternity will be stocking the Double Plus Nursing Bras from Bravado very soon. 10DD right up to 22F, with the Medium and Large sizes going up to a G cup

I got a couple around 36 weeks. Mainly wore feeding singlets for first couple of weeks and no bra (bra hurt too much, and was harder to access boobs when learning BFing. Singlets accommodated changing sizes too). Got more feeding bras after a few weeks once milk in, and size settled. Hope this helps! |

Blest bras in aus (website) have a good range of flexiwire bras (am wearing one now) and are super comfortable and supportive. I feel like a normal bra in this one and I am a 14H - HH - so there is a LOT to support LOL -------------

Thanks for all the awesome suggestions ladies, I am looking into them. I have bought some Triumph ones from Farmers and looking into some of the ones online. At antenatal class they told us to get a fitting at about 36 weeks - that would be the size we'd be when the supply settled down. I didn't test the theory though; I had a couple of nursing singlets and waited till after bubs was born to get some nursing bras.
I've got several now (including a Bendon Motherlove one) but the one I love the most is my Elle Macpherson Bendon one - pricey but so worth it! I'm going to buy an extra one. |
