Does anyone have any recommendations on good family camp grounds (preferably) north of Taupo?
Somewhere with a good beach for bub's first summer
TIA

Waihi Beach Motorcamp is lovely and child friendly.
or Orewa Family Motorcamp they even have a pool if the beach isn't the best.
We always go to the http://www.top10.co.nz/ - Top 10 holiday parks or if your looking for no frills try the DOC campgrounds.

We are looking at going camping too this summer but am finding the prices especially at the top 10 holiday parks really expensive!! I've been using the website below to look for campgrounds - really good (sorry don't know how to do the link)

Thanks ladies,
I've been looking at the Jason's website and NZ Camping website for ideas just can't decide where to go!
We used to go to Ohope but need a change and it was getting expensive. It's crazy the range of prices for a non-powered tent site these days!

Omokoroa which is about 20 mins out of Tauranga in the harbour. We spent about 5 years going there when our kids were little and the reason we loved it so much was that it was a small, friendly campground that felt safe. Great playground for the kids and 3 pools varying in temperature. It's not right next to the beach but it's a quick drive. The beach is really safe as it's in the harbour and is nice and shallow. The grass and some sand is shaded by trees which means you can stay there all day without fear of getting burnt to a crisp! Definitely worth checking out.
