So we are going to have to get new laptop as our current laptop must have a loose wire to the screen, the screen works but if you move it the wrong way the screen goes white!

I have a couple of questions-

If i hook my current laptop up to a monitor will it work? it would be good to have it as sometimes both DP and i want to be on the computer at the same time. also im not sure if we are going to be able to get a new laptop straight away

is it best to take the new laptop to a computer person to set up the antivirus etc or is it easier enough to download it? if im downloading it what is a good programme.

i plug mine into the TV with a HDMI cord, wrks real sweet! I think if you dont have HDMI on your TV you can still use the red white and yellow cords but get a different end for your computer!
Hope this helps

yes you should be able to plug it into a screen, if its just a screen that is busted then the cheapest thing to do is get a new screen and plug it in.

You can buy antivirus from the shop and download and install it easy as you will get the serial number with your purchase.

New computers come with a trial version of office so if you use that alot make sure you purchase that at the same time and try and get a discount

Dh is in the IT business and only ever buys Norton you can get one that is for more than one user and lasts something like 2 or 3 years can't remember.

In terms of virus software I've only ever used the AVG free edition which you can download online...

It's really good,, scans your computer and updates itself daily. I've never had any problems with it...and if you do ever get a virus or anything they have great online support.

Yup if its just a loose wire it will work pluged into a screen.

AVG free works fine. I prefer it to Norton (but in saying that i prefer BitDefender to AVG which is $100 for a year) but cant afford it and I find AVG free is good enough. (and we download torrents constantly and havent had a virus yet)

My laptop sh@t itself (screen became 8 screens lol) so we just use it as an external HDD and a wireless router for our internet and its plugged into the PS3 and we have a program that lets the PS access the computer so we can watch movies we have "found" and we use DPs computer for actually being on the computer.
