Hi everyone. Just curious if anyone else's bubbas have been extra slow getting teeth. DD has only two teeth at 19 months. She got the first one at 1yr and the 2nd one at 13months, so hasn't had any more in 6 months! Is this normal? It's only just occured to me that it might be something to ask a doctor/dentist about because my friend just text me that her 8month old just cut her 3rd tooth...
Thought I'd rather feel like a dork asking here than ringing a doctor up to ask them hehe, besides you guys probably have more ideas about it than they do   ------------- DD 4yrs DS 2yrs http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">

I guess it wouldnt hurt to ask. When do you have plunket next?? I have it on Monday so could ask before coffee group for you??
Taylah had all her teeth by 19 months, just waiting on the 2/3 yr molars. Has she got any lumps up top?? -------------

DD is also 19 months and has been slow (and very random) with teething. She has more than yours but a few front bottom teeth haven't come through and her molars have.

My DD has been a slow teether, she is coming up 22 months and still has to get her bottom eye teeth and the ones next to the bottom front teeth. Its only recently say around 16-19 months that she got the majority of her teeth. I have a relative thats a dentist and she said not to worry too much and so did the docs.
Its meant to be a good thing if they teeth late apparently the have healthier teeth. Oh and Emmecat, my mum had her gums lanced when she was little, I still can't believe that was allowed, she wasn't even a late teether but just just not as a quick as the norm  ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Lol Emmecat (for anyone wondering, my MIL suggested cutting DD's gums to help the teeth thru when she didn't have any haha)
Sabrina, that would be cool if you could ask your Plunket nurse for me  we don't have Plunket till she's two so another 5months.
Her gums have always been bumpy, so not sure what I'm looking for with regards to teeth coming thru... And nope she hasn't had a dentist visit, are they meant to have one? I went to the dentist when she was about 1 (for me) and asked him when I should take her as she'd only just cut her 1st tooth, and she said not till she's 4

It sounds like your DD falls outside the typical range of teething, but IMO it is still 'normal' - my DD2 is a 'late' teether and only started a fortnight ago at 13.5 months but did 4 molars in one week, nothing since. I worried a little as any mum probably would, but in the end, what is there that can *actually* be done about it - probably not much! In terms of conditions that may be causing the delay though, I guess if I were in your shoes I'd probably start looking into medical investigations around the age of 2. ------------- Mama to two earth walkers & two angels. I would ask plunket or the dentist as well, but my guess is that they will probably all suddenly start popping through at once soon.
Caden had all his teeth by 20 months and is now cutting his 2 year old molars. Bella is cutting her 7th tooth now at 13 months. |

Ill ask on Monday for you. Although Taylahs plunket nurse is a bit loopy lol I havent even thought of taking Taylah to the dentist. There is no way she would sit there anyway  -------------

Daniel has been checked by a Paediatrician every six months (not related to teeth) and we asked him about teeth and when it was a problem if they were coming through. Daniel was around 13 months I think and he said he could see 'buds' so they would come and he said they will take there own time and wouldn't be concerned until they were a lot older (around 4 years!) with no sign of teeth. Cory is 16mths and only has 8 teeth...4 top and 4 bottom and he takes ages from the time the red cheeks etc start until teeth come through and then sometimes nothing at all ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I only cut my 1st tooth at 14 months! And I have a full set  DD is just cutting her 1st tooth at nearly 10 months which is earlier than I expected actually considering how late I was...------------- http://lilypie.com">

I cut my 1st tooth at age 1 too just like Chelsea, and the second one soon after. But I didn't go 6 months without getting any more hehe. I know there is probably nothing they can do about it and certainly will not be getting her gums cut (although that's not even an option these days- as my Plunket nurse said at our last appt at 15months when I mentioned my MIL's comment: "that went out with the ark" lol that shut MIL up ) ------------- DD 4yrs DS 2yrs http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">

yea. mack has 3 bottom and 3 top. he has drowled since 5 months and didnt cut his first til 9 months. no sign whatsoever of any others apart from his 4th top one. i wouldnt worry bu1t it might be worth asking a doc or plunket just for peace of mind -------------

Rach i stopped reading after you said you hadnt been to the dentist.
I dont know how it works down there but here Plunket give you a form early on (like at the 1st or 2nd appt) to get bubs enrolled at the local dentist and they like to see them before they are 1. Its just a chat about tooth care and really to put parents at ease as so many people have a fear of dentists that they dont want passed onto the kiddies. I held jakes off until he was about 13 months as he didnt get his first teeth until he was 10 months. Not sure who you would ask about that for your area.... -------------

Angus only had 4 teeth from 9 months till 16 months, and we just got tooth number 10 yesterday, so in 2 months they have just popped! So im sure Chelsea's will to. But i guess it cant hurt to ask.. -------------
