Ok, might sound like a dummy here, but can anyone clarify for me the answer to this question.

When counting the weeks of pregnancy (40 weeks), is that 40 weeks from conception, or 40 weeks from cycle day 1?

Because if it is from cycle day 1, then you are only actually pregnant for about 38 weeks (off a normal cycle).

Just trying to plan which cycle to start ttc on!

The 40 weeks are counted from day 1 of your last period, so yes, you are correct in that it works out to be 38 weeks of actual pregnacy.

That's why a baby born anywhere from 38 to 42 weeks is considered full term!

Thanks so much! That is what I thought was the case, I just wanted to check - might throw our plans a little - bother having a long irregular cycle!
