The weirdest thing just happened. DS2 (5yrs) who went to bed at 8pm (later than usual as we all went for a long walk tonight) got out of bed at 9.15 and ran around in what looked like a panic would not talk to us & ran upstairs to the toilet not the one downstairs by his bedroom. We tried talking to him thinking he had a bad dream, tried cuddling him & he sat on DH's knee on the floor but did not talk did not look at us & seemed pissed off at us so DH put him back in bed & we rubbed his head & his eyes closed & he was fast asleep.

Totally freaked us out.

We have seen him like that once before when he was really sick & thought it was due to a high fever but now we are wondering if he sleep walks.

Will be bolting the doors tonight.

Does it sound like sleep walking?

Freaky! It does sound like he was sleep walking. My brother did that once when he was about the same age.
He got out of bed wandered into the lounge and mu parents asked him what he was doing, and he said "going toilet" but he was totally out of it! They guided him back to bed and he went back to sleep.

sounds like sleep walking. apparently when i was young i once went and squated sans-pants in my parents bedroom, they asked what i was doing and i said "toilet".

another time i apparently strolled through the lounge room to my brothers room for a jumper. woke up in the morning and had my bros jumper in the doorway to my room and no recollection of how it got there lol.

but that wouldve freaked me out too.

Yeah I agree, def sounds like sleepwalking.
DS 4 often does it when he's really overtired, he gets quite agitated when we try to interact or cuddle him too much so we tend to just guide him back to bed and stroke his forehead until he relaxes back to sleep.

Good idea about the bolts too, I once woke up outside as a kid, gave my mum a hell of a fright when she heard me coming back in in tears!

mum found me in the driveway more than once as a kid. in my sisters room, in the lounge. sounds very much like sleeping walking to me as well. just make sure that there arent any hazards around that normally dont matter once the kids go to bed just in case.

.Sounds like Sleep walking

Got a phone call from our neighbours at 1 in the morning saying our daughter was out on the pathway. We lived in a compound so it was a communal pathway that went down the middle of two rows of houses. Safe from cars but a pier and beack and swimming pool at the end of it. We then learnt to lock the doors and hide the key to keep her in. She was 5 too and only did it a handful of times before growing out of it.

wow scary stuff about your littlies outside girls

I think if DS2 had not of been running around in a panic I would of guess sleepwalking & it would not of helped with us getting in his way.
We had been out for a big walk before he went to bed last night & he was in bed later. We have been out walking heaps today & at the park tonight but he has had a nice bath before bed so hopefully no repeat tonight...but the dead bolt will be on the door.

From what I have heard being over tired or very physical can cause it.
