yay thank you

Love the tutu Pillow

now to continue on from the other thread.....more babies hmmmm. I think I will always love having a newborn, but I am really loving this new stage and now that we have decided no more babies for a while I am actually quite OK with it and just excited about watching my 2 grow and interact. Plus I have about 3 years worth of sleep I need to catch up on Also the idea of being pregnant again-

But give me another couple of years and I will probably have changed my mind

Shopping went well- just a quick trip (I hate shopping for too long), but managed to get a couple of new tops.

Tom has been spending the whole day practicing getting on all fours and then I caught him before shuffing his knee forward.noooooooo not yet Tomtom.

oh yay! thanks Katherine! lol we broke it

ohk ladies what do you think of this.....

my design page on FB - while it may gain some momentum further down the track... its never going to be something to help pay the bills. there are too many people out there who do it and have been doing it longer than me. Would still keep it as a side bit though....

but have been thinking (and was discussing with another mum today)

what do you think about poly pellet filled bean bags.... but make them so one side is the same fabric, and the other side make pairs (like memory). could make them for differnet age groups. (age group 1 might be a circle and a circle. age group 2 might be a square matched to the word square. age group 3 might be a knife matched to a fork.)

there are heaps of possibilities... but do you reckon that there might be some interest for a kinda educational type game... memory, pairs, flash card type things?

Have been talking to a woman on facebook who runs a fabric group (on the down-low) and she would be keen for me to associate with her to sew stuff for people that want to choose fabric, but dont want to sew it, but would like to offer my own things on the side aswell. simple toys because clothing gets too much with sizing and all that.

i sew heaps anyway and i love making toys, but im pretty sure I would get PO with 80 little beanbags around the house lol.

thinking about 10cmx8cm filled with some poly pellets (think those silicone gel packets you get in shoes for the moisture... but safe lol)

there is a woman on FB who sells bean bags - but boring and plain for 6 for $12. I think that if you can actually do something with them, it might be a bit more of a step up...

ETA: I just really want to be able to do something that will make a few bucks and something that is "mine" to do iygwim? I love sewing and its "me" and would love to do something with it.

They sound cute Kahlia, but what do you use them for if you don't mind me asking? Would you sell them individually or as a set?

DH is home grrrrr I feel like I had only just got the house to myself. Sigh. Maybe I can ship him off for the day on Monday....

That sounds like a good arrangement hun - with the lady.

Oh and I got the panel!!! Whoop - can't wait to get it!!

Hmm, not sure Kahlia, i think the idea of sewing things fro people that want stuff done but don't have the skills/time is a good idea!

grizzly baby, still snuffly and not liking it in bed lying down. Off to cuddle

Yay new thread!

Tutu looks fabulous Trudz.

K is no where near crawling. I'm kinda sad but kinda glad. I watched little Thomas crawling around my house in Tuesday and I'm going to have to modify so much of my house. Haha and apparenlty the dog's water and food bowl are fascinating to kids

Rats, she's awake again. I need to read your post again Kahlia - I didn't quite get what you're thinking of making. BBL.

SB - yeah but we can totally fly past everyone again with the amount we talk lol.

ok will try and explain better lol.

100% cotton, flat rectangle bean bags filled with Poly Pellets.
one side of each will have the same fabric.
opposite side will be made into pairs. (squares, circles, triangles, lines, plus sign, waves..... whatever is simple, bold and easy to pair)

can be used like a game of memory.

can custon for different age groups.

1 - pairs of shapes (circle matches circle. square matches square)

2 - pairs of shape and word (a square matches the word square like flash cards)

3 - like things match. (knife and fork. pen and pencil. apple and banana [both fruit])

also would be able to match colours. patch of red matches patch of red.

patch of red matches word red

etc......

oh and also thinking to make the beanbags part of something like this...

thinking about making creepy crawly toys
(spider, carterpillar, bugs etc)

maybe call it "toys for boys" or something? (i want to market boys because there is so much girl stuff around)

also thinking that if all that goes well, can move onto boys book bags (with a skull or spider type applique/patch and maybe something like boys quilt and pillow cover sets (in the far far far future lol)

OMG Trudz - you typed it out? could you not have copy and pasted?

Thank you Pillow - that would have taken FOREVER!

Yep Luna, had a bubble bath, was fab!! Little boy is having a crapola day. Woke at 5am, 20min sleep at 8am, then 20min sleep at 12pm, then 1hr sleep at 3pm and just gone down. He's puking everywhere and the poo its not pleasant. Blimmin teething has a lot to answer for!

I'm sad too - I hope they don't delete them, there are a lot of memories in there!

Oh clever Katherine, thank you!
Trudz, you are very clever too, to find that list. Well done! NB; just a tiny thing, but Ewok was born at 7.20am. Can you change that wee deet? Thanks, lovey x

Is our old thread GONE? Noooooo!

Oh my, babies CRAWLING?! Ewok isn't even close to that yet. It's 'cos his brain is developing orsumly, don't you know

Lol M2H, the treasurer position is paid in powdered milk. Lol.

Kahlia, it would make me weep to see a line of toys called that (even though I think insect toys are an AWESOME IDEA! Your best yet!). Sorry, but I have to be honest. This is coming from a girl who's favorite toys as a kid were tin army trucks and a pair of stilts Oh, and climbing things. Ha ha ha.
I'm not an insect person myself, but I do know girls who are, and well, you know my passion for the http://www.pinkstinks.co.uk/ - Pink Stinks ethos. Please market your cool toys for girls, as well as boys. Not all girls only like princess themed toys, and I really believe it sends negative messages to our children to market toys according to gender.
That is all.

I forget what else has been said, I am all wrapped up in those thoughts now. Heh

Posted By: MyLilSquishy
Date Posted: 21 October 2010 at 7:35pm
Rette - our old thread is still there. dropped to the bottom i think lol. they left it for us

and yup definitely want to market it towards girls aswell. just have no idea what to call it. i just thought toys for boys coz it rhymes and no imagination when it comes to me lol. always have plenty of awesome ideas for other people lol.

if anyone can think of a wicked name for me?

ooooh trucks would be a great idea too.

Oh, I should add; I got two free tickets to the Parent&Child show. Should I go? Eeerrrrr.....is it worth going if I have no $?

Which brings me to add ~ coffee group tomorrow. Is it just M2ET, Sasha and I? If so, do you girls want to come to our house? There is room for the babies to roll, and just enough room for 3 adults Just don't bring buggies or capsules in though. Heh.
If it's going to be any more than us 3, let's go the Coffee Club idea.

Hi everyone, I might come to coffee tomorrow if i can get away from work if its at the coffee club. I won't crash your place rette if there no room.

As for the old thread i did ask them not to delete it so hopefully it will just stay at the bottom. Someone could always copy and paste all the posts from the last thread into here

Feeling a bit flat at the moment so will say goodnight for now.

Either Coffee Club or Rette's is fine with me. Might be nice to not have to pay for coffee etc but I am not sure if Barb is coming- Sasha??

Rette- they normally have some free samples to give away at the P&C show, but it depends on easily you think you would be tempted to buy something. We went last year, but I think I am going to give it a miss this week (can't be bothered paying to go so I can spend even more money).

Tom has been such an angel today gone down for all his sleeps without a fuss and even had a 3rd sleep (which he hasn'.t for ages). I kept having to tell DH he is not normally this good.

Ok, so coffee at mine tomorrow. I'll PM y'all my address x

Yes yes, great point Kahlia. You really should be in sales, y'know

YAY! We can talk lots and lots and lots again!

Kahlia, Sounds like some good ideas there. Is there a craft fair at all in dunedin? Could be a good way to get your things out there. I think with anything that you make, (not just you, I mean people in general) it takes a while for your name to be known and out there.

Happy Birthday Mum2ET. Sounds like you had a lovely day.

Pillow, love the tutus!!!! re the prices, I'd look around and see what others are selling them for, and then undercut them by a few dollars.

Mum2H, Sasha uses the soap nuts I think, is that right Sasha?

Rette, so when are you thinking of trying again?
(for bebe)

DH said this morning, "no we're not ready yet, Sheldon needs to be sleeping through the night, at least 5/7 nights"
I tend to agree, I want to go back to work part time for a bit, to get some more money, and then be eligble for maternity leave again.
Although if it happends earlier I so cool with it.

Kahlia, you might know, I'm after some dotty satin fabric, have you seen any at spotlight?
(I love the minky shop you 'liked' on FB. They have the type of satin I want, but shipping its alot.

I'm just about to eat a choc mug cake with icecream.....a bit naughty, but ya know, its for the BM. Right! Right......

Good idea re the craft fair next year.

Rilla, man now you've made me paranoid.
Yup, if you goggle any of our childrens names (first and middle names) and click NZ only links to OHbaby.
(even you Kahlia).
But, most people wouldn't know our childrens middles names would they? Ie they would have know, but probably forgotten.

Trudz, pls take Ewok's middle name off that list. Thank you! Good thinking, Rilla. PHEW!
Lol Rilla, so glad to see I have a feminist comrade Racing stripes and brown trou
I actually put Ewok in a baby blue outfit the other day, for the VERY first time I do believe. Nature Baby stripe cornflour cotton shorts, and a YMY dusty blue cardi over a white onsie. He looked, so......weird I am so used to seeing him in browns, greens, greys etc. I haven't found the shade of blue that best suits him yet

Go the stilts, Kahlia! That is so fun Mine were small yellow hard plastic buckets, with green rubber tubing strung through. Made by my Dad I never got high ones, but I bet I would've loved some

Ok, night night x

PS, Super duper tutu, Trudz!

*waves* Hiya beautiful March mamas and bubbas

Sorry I've been mia ... life is certainly busy these days with two little ones to run around after .

Janini, I've deleted all the second names in the birth announcement thread - but Mum2ET, thesaff and Tastic have also posted versions of that list there. Send me a PM if you want me to do any more editing .

Hope life is treating you all well.  Really enjoy seeing all the photos on FB - all the babies are growing up so fast now!

If any of you are ever in Hokitika, please look me up - would love a visit.

Yay to a new thread!! Although now means i am going to go back to struggling to keep up!

Trudz - the tutus look great!

Kahila - i have your little Bo peeps! but forgot what else you wanted so do you want to PM me what it was that you wanted with your addy and ill get them tomorrow and post it

I also love your bean bag idea! the matching game is really good... if you were wanting to add another stage you could do like a grouping one like fish, dolphin, whale (all live in water) tree, flower, grass (all plants)... just thinking about things we do with the kids at work... but i love it... i would def want a set! and with regards to the fairs etc what you could do is only take one set and take orders? and i love the idea of the trucks etc

O GO Tom!! i bet he won't be far away now!!

What else... O Claire do you what the name of that aussie site with the boys toys is? i would be interested in having a look..

Sorry if i have missed anything else!!

Us with babies, well looks like we will be waiting til we move back home... means there will be a bigger age gap than what i would like but i think it is the best thing.. but it wouldn't be a bad thing if it 'accidentally' happened...

we got a wedding invite yesterday... the wedding is on saturday.... anyone else think its a bit odd???

Hope everyone has a lovely evening!!

Paulsmum, by home do you mean back to NZ? Do you have any idea when that will be?
Umm yeah thats odd. So you have like 2-3 days notice?
The wedding is it good friends?

Girls, was thinking as I was doing the dishes do we want to do another secret santa this year? Thoughts?

Yep back to nz, I don't want P going to school here so that's our time line before he is 5.. By that stage we would have been in Aussie for 10 years so I think it will be home time then!!

It's a guy Dh used to work with and he had emailed dh ages ago asking if we would come but we thought as we hadn't heard anything they must of changed the date! Don't think we will be going, we have swimming lessons at 1030 and the wedding is at 11.

I'm reckon for Santa!

Any reason you don't want him to go to school in Aus?
Very odd, besides swimming is much more important.

Ok, I need to go to bed as its midnight.

omg yay Jade you are coming back! and remember in aussie you start the year you turn 5, not the day... so you will have until about 4 1/2 years (just over)

are you coming to Dunedin?

and yay lil bo peeps!!! ive got a few things for you. not enough though lol. but will finish getting it this week and post out by next week. need your addy too

and PMing you now

and great idea about the bean bags too! (the water animals, plants etc) and that makes sense about the bean bags and taking orders. If i was to make about 15 sets that woul dbe more than enough coz there is always someone that wants to buy some then and there lol.

Also there is cruise ship season hitting in February, I could make some kiwiana ones for the cruise ships. maybe lol. thats still a bit far ahead.

yup im keen for secret santa and the big OB SS is over in general being organised by me and shannon (another dunedin mum)

Lol Kahlia coz p is a march bubba he would start in feb so it wouldn't matter too much... I am not a big fan of the school system here and personally think the education. System in nz is a lot better (that's JMO I don't want anyone to take offenese!)
Probably be central I would say, DH doesn't want to go back to Dunedin!

O the kiwiana ones are cool idea, you could also go round childcare centres, kindys and schools...

I did wonder why I was getting replies from you last night janini, I thought you were a very brave lady being up so late!!

Kahlia i like the draw your own idea for kiddie's too, you could maybe have a word (i.e cat) and then they could draw it, maybe with a pic on the other side to copy from? Just thinking out load. And maybe primary colour ones and black and white squiggles/bold basic animals etc for wee buba's.

I have been very naughty and downloaded story books from itunes (they play music and you read along with pictures). Winnie the poo, peter rabbit and Dr Suess

You guys are too hard to keep up with again!

Just quickly before I go out...
About the soap nuts M2H. They obviously don't have any bleach or whitener in them so they don't make your washing shine like the preprepared powders. But things are still clean. So I tend to use them selectively which still minimises the environmental impact of washing. I use them on all nappies, although once/month I still do a hot wash with nappisan to make sure they don't get stinky. I also use the soap nuts for loads that are shirts, towels and things that are not stained (just a bit sweaty etc).

Guys there are so many of those lists in our last posts from so many different people I don't think you'll catch them all. So any of you that are worried about it should do a google search for the names you're concerned about and then ask the people who posted them to delete your details. I mean there'll be details in posts as well as the lists and most of you will have the same information on your Facebook home page for all to see (baby's name and birthday).

Morning!

Thanks, Sasha. I think I'll give the soapnuts another try, combined with oxygen bleach and see if I can fully replace the persil at some stage with that combo.

Anyone need any nursing bras??

I'm selling 4 (all kinds of sizes) that were either the wrong size or I didn't like the look of them once bought.

Anyway, you're welcome to have a looksie at TM if you're interested.

What's your Tm, M2H? Not that I need any, but I would like a looksee
I have been so very utterly awesome and paid off nearly half my overdraft. I have a few more things to put on TM, including my wedding dress which I should get a little $ for.
Today at the oppy I got one wooden dump truck, and two wooden trains for $5 A bit expensive imo, but I am building up a fabulous wooden toy collection. Mainly trains, but also trucks and blocks.
Plus, I returned something faulty to the Baby Factory and got a cool Lamaze cube toy in exchange.

Ewok is soooooo tired, but alternating between gurgling and crying in his cot. I defo got him home too late

Oooh Riley! 4 toofs! Well done!

Oh Luna, you POOR girl being so sick. Chest infections are awful I get a good one every winter. Hopefully the doctor can listen to your chest and get you onto something better than ventolin. Good luck w the stitches! x

PS I am having home made pizza for lunch, followed by strawberries and cups of tea. Nom nom nom.

PPA Oh Janini, how exciting! GO the dusty pink/grey, yellow/grey and any other grey combo

i've had to turn off Dr Phil, they are talking about animal cruelty. Awful vidoe clips. I actually burst into tears and turned the TV off and gave Hobbes a big cuddle. I feel so what some people do to animals. Can't even talk about it without making my blood boil.

Oooh pizza, strawberries and a cuppa sounds wonderful!

Dr gave me some serious drugs and also a nebuliser for my inhalors

DD is having a wonderful long sleep, she obviously knew i needed a wee break and a lie down. A little monster with angel wings

Wooden toys are awesome hey Rette, we have a few now. Still haven't found a good Oppy here yet, i'm still on the hunt though! If you ever find anything you think beenie would like i would happily pay you a finders fee and postage You sooooo need a shop of your own

Ali I have to change the channel even when there's an add for the different animal rescue shows that are on. And I start to fantasize about what I would do to someone who did that to an animal.

Yay to the drugs. Hope they pick you up.

Oh I was going to ask you about your MacPack carrier. Good? I'm wondering whether to get something like that to do some hiking.

Oooh I love wooden toys. Most of the toys I've bought are wooden. Blocks, shape sorter, Hammery thingy, bead thingy, puzzels.....

Going away tonight. Gah so much to pack. I've just remembered the rates are due next week so I've just paid them....$324. UGH!! Why own a house, why???!!!
And we got a thing in the mail to say DH's scooter rego is overdue. Becuase it's been in the garage since June. Will I get into trouble for not paying it.

Ryan has learnt 'the incy wincy spider' He sings it bitsy bitsy bitsy spider.... Its so cute.

Lovely washing day, Sunny and a good breese. Had to push the pegs on hard though.

It's great for the longer walks Sasha, gives beenie a bit more padding and support for uphills and being in there longer than 30mins. Plus the pocket you can put nappies, water, food in for a stop at the top of a good hike uphill shorter walks i just pop her in the babyhawk. She has fallen asleep in the backpack too, and it even has a little rain/sunshade that pop's out which is actually really good.

Cute on the bitsy spider Bessie where you going for the long weekend?

Lol Rilla. Yeah.....I'm actually not a sentimental person at all. I'm sentimental about a couple of pieces of inherited furniture, but other than that, possessions to me is just 'stuff'. Pretty and useful stuff, but still stuff
My boss bought me my wedding dress (from memory it cost about $150-$200), and she created such a rude stink about me not publically thanking her in my wedding speech, that it's left a sour taste in my mouth. Aaaaand, I never changed the beading on it (too pregnant and too tired - lol), which I didn't like at all. So to look at it kind of makes me go "nice, but meh'. The memories of our wedding are MUCH nicer to me
Thank you anyway for caring enough to say something, kind girl. Also, thank you for the sling postage! Can't wait

Oh yup Bessie ~ you have to apply for an exemption on a lapsed registration, otherwise they sting you x

Eeek Bessie. Cute but hope that stops once the teeth arrive. K bites me when she gets distracted and oh my god it is NOT funny with 2 teeth.

Gorgeous up here too Rilla. Just lovely.

Can I take credit for getting them to remove the tool bar, can I, can I?

Hmm, I'm totally in love with the Manduca carrier - but soooo expensive. Please please be on sale at the P&C show.
