Posted the following post in the first baby forum but only had one reply .... maybe there are some more experienced mummies reading in here??
My wee boy is 3 months old this week, he goes to bed after a bottle of about 150-200ml of formula (is bf for 5 other feeds of the day) at about 7.30, I get up once during the night about 2-3pm and then he sleeps till 6 or 7. So all good really. He is generally having quite a big feed in the night so obviously he needs it. I was thinking of starting a dreamfeed to see if I could get rid of the middle of the night feed. I never did this with my daughter as she was reflux so just would not have worked! I have a couple of questions.
How many nights before I may see it working?
He is still swaddled so do I leave him swaddled?
Do I wind him, (he brings up wind really easily)?
Does the time have to be the same every night? So if I went out would I have to be home by say 10 if I usually feed him at 10? Or would it not matter for the odd night.
Thanks in advance, just keen to work out if this is something I should try!

I will answer from my experience with DF two children:
How many nights before I may see it working? I would give it at least a week of doing it every night.
He is still swaddled so do I leave him swaddled? No need to unswaddle, the idea is to not wake them, so just gently pick him up and then feed him in his usual feeding position.
Do I wind him, (he brings up wind really easily)? Not really - You could just gently move him into an upright position and the wind usually escapes without vigorous winding.
Does the time have to be the same every night?
So if I went out would I have to be home by say 10 if I usually feed him at 10? Or would it not matter for the odd night? I would try and keep it around the same time, but i am sure once you have established the DF the odd half an hour late wouldnt matter too much. I think this one is a try and see situation.
Hope that helps.

I did a dreamfeed with Jake and it worked well, but Morgan would never take one (slept thru every night from 5wks so I didn't worry too much tho!)
How many nights before I may see it working? at least 3.
He is still swaddled so do I leave him swaddled? Yep.
Do I wind him, (he brings up wind really easily)? No, I never winded Jake.
Does the time have to be the same every night? So if I went out would I have to be home by say 10 if I usually feed him at 10? Or would it not matter for the odd night. My hubby did it with EBM and he did it at all different times (I went te bed after expressing) and it didn't seem to matter, but when he got really used to it he did start waking for it some nights (like growth spurt times).

Give it about a week
He is still swaddled so do I leave him swaddled?
I left Lily unswaddled but I did read and heard that it is most successful if you do it in the 'restless' part of their sleep as they'll take the bottle or BF and it 'restarts' the sleep cycle.
Do I wind him, (he brings up wind really easily)? For me it depended, I could tell if dd had wind from a feed, if he's normally a windy baby I would gently wind him otherwise if you think it might wake him or he'll be fine then - don't bother!

Yup, keep it the same time so they get used to it iygwim otherwise he might actually wake and want it. (Lily did that twice).
