If there was a service available where someone came into your home once a week and prepared your meals, shopped for you, made school lunches etc etc do you think that is something that you would be interested in? This person is an absolutely amazing cook, can do ANYTHING (home made pates, home made cheese, home made salamis, restaurant quality meals, divine baking). And if you were interested, what would you invisage paying for this service?
Just wanting to get a few ideas

Hmmm my guess would be that most people with the kind of money that could afford that would probably have a nanny that would already do a lot of that.

The client base would have to be people who could pay well. I could see people working here on contracts that rent high prices places that want the live in a home feel will services like in a hotel.
You will need to spend a lot to create the experience these clients would be willing to pay for. I think you need to do your research on it & see you can get a corporate place to refer clients to you. There is a place that has services for hire, like a PA, house keeper, cook, shopper I can not remember the name but have heard them advertised so I would check out competition also. The food side sounds more like catering so you could have 2 areas like small dinner parties & house keeping...... |

| In the states there was a lady that would cook meals and they could be fresh or frozen. You then called and ordered which meals and they were delivered to your door. I wouldn't do the shopping as there is internet shopping these days. Buying in bulk and preparing the meals in your own kitchen so that working mums could just throw them in the oven at the end of the day would have more of a profit margin. You could offer kids lunches and catering as part of the service. |

I agree with this. My friend is a nanny and she does absolutely everything for the family, cooks, cleans, washing, food shopping, cares for the children from 8am till 6pm etc. She does everything to do with their household, apart from the lawns and gardens, they have a gardener for that  ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

I think it would depend on circumstances but I think there would definitely be interest out there for it! Although like I said circumstances... E.g, disabled people or elderly often get home help which offers all that + more...
You may find super busy people may be keen or those that work long hours, on call etc. My friend did that for a judge but she then ended up being their nanny once she had kids too. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

It is kind of like the housekeeper that used to be the thing to have in England....ahhh to be back in those days.
It would totally depend on how much it costs because honestly, it could end up being reasonable if the family then didn't waste as much food...if that makes sense? Wonder what the lady of the house used to do in the olden days while the housekeeper did the meals.....again ahhhh to be in those days... -------------

| The big demand for it in the states was that you weren't eating out and the meals were home cooked and more healthy for you. Beats mc ds on the way home 3 days a week. And cost about the same if only a little more. Google a few sites as there are bound to be some online. In Dallas there were a couple of people who had set up businesses doing it. |

There would possibly be demand for it from familie with both parents working or maybe those who have just had a baby (like the Pepsicles service) or who don't have family close by who would normally help with these things ------------- Lindsey

I think you would have to be really careful with regards to regulations and food preparation. If you were preparing food off site then you'd need a food hygeine cert etc etc. A friend and I were looking at doing this kind of service for new mums - but it just kind of got into the too hard basket....

I know of someone who does this and it actually isn't that expensive. Most of her clients are families where both parents are working professionals with children/teenagers who are busy after school and in the envenings with activities.
She has an extended menu that clients pick five meals from and then the clients buy all the ingredients. She then turns up at the house and spends a couple of hours making all the meals. A couple are left fresh and the others frozen. Sounds like a fab idea to me! Way cheaper than a full time nanny/house keeper and I think most of the work is for older families anyway. |
