Also have noticed the online WW store is not selling the usual things so must be waiting for the new stuff to launch.

I rang the WW line & all the new products come out Monday. I am so glad I did not spend too much on their stuff this yr. I have the new pedometer but never used the extra points it gave me so will not need to update that.

Well I spent $100 on the scales! Maybe I should flick them off on trademe quickly before news gets out too far lol. They are quite handy regardless though....
New programme looks great!

How is everyone going on the new propoints plan? Im just trying to get my head around some food and meals being higher in propoints, thinking that I dont want to waste/use so many points for one meal although we have more propoints to use each day... so far so good though.
I bought the pack at my meeting which has the essentials kit as well as the scales, oil spray thingee and measuring spoons as was $70 cheaper to buy them all at once, but we were told the scales wouldnt be arriving until possibly early jan?! Has anyone else heard anything about that? Am hoping I dont have to wait that long..
Will be interesting to see how next weigh in goes, good luck everyone!

meggls how much are the scales& how much did all that cost?
I am tossing up between rejoining meetings after xmas, or doing it online or doing the at home pack.

Jazzy the scales are normally $100 on their own. The essentials pack which is the new shopping/eating out guides, and journal is $50, and you get a free propoints calculator.
Theres another pack (think it might be called food lovers?! cant quite remember), which is the scales, oil spray thingee and measuring spoons for $130, but there is a deal on that if you buy both packs a tthe same time for $150/$160, you save $70 and you get a free programme cookbook which is normally $30 (and has some good recipies in it!)
The new scales are supposed to be pretty awesome, our leader was saying if you weigh some meat (as an example) and type in what kind of meat it is it'll calculate how many propoints it is. Not sure if the old ones did that? I didn't have them. The downside is we were told they wouldnt arrive possibly until the beginning of jan.
Have got 600g to go before I hit my 10%, after that still have another 22kg to go, must admit I've found the new programme rather motivating! I love that all fruit is now 0..

meggls thanks, I am trying to decide weather to do meeting or at home plan. I do like the idea of online but I like books & if you don't carry on with the monthly plan then you lose everything you have imputed (I guess).

Has anyone seen weight watchers products in the supermarket since pro points started? I don't normally buy them but I was wondering if they have changed to pro points now instead of points? I am thinking of popping down the supermarket in my break and stocking up on some snacks to leaver here at work.

yay i have internet back finally. i have a love/hate relationship with the new plan. i hate it cos eating 29 points on the new plan is actually frikin impossible but i love the fact that WW is finally teaching ppl to eat properly. as a personal trainer i have always been quite down on WW because ppl can eat a burger and then nothing for the rest of the day and that is only, or like my flatmate who spends at least 1/3rd of her daily allowance on wine every day. all up im pleased with the new plan

I'm not having much trouble - I found I wasn't eating enough on the old plan and was hungry... My brekkie of rolled oats alone is 9 points though... and lunch and dinner have been between 8-12 points. I bought some of the WW wraps and meals to try and they are 8 points each too. Lovin' the free fruit!!

ok I did it...thanks MrsB & will probably keep it up..looks great.
Alex have you seen any change in the WW meals? I am going to get some ready made ones for me.

I tried the thai chicken curry today - I think it was one of the most disgusting things I have ever had lol... the points on the new programme are different - I think it was 6 on the old plan and is now worth 8 points but they haven't changed the packaging yet, I calculated it with the online calculator. I bought a fish pie (irvine's I think) from the freezer yesterday for half the price and it was only 7 points and definitly more filling and tasty! I think I prefer home cooked stuff but on the days I dont manage to bring my own lunch it's good to know there is something else there.

I agree the WW meal are nasty! The "meat" is processed and rubbery. I would rather make something from scratch at least you know whats in it! I can't even read half of the ingredients on the packets!

I have had them before & thought they were ok, guess it depends which ones.
I have to make dinner for everyone else anyway, but sometimes I don't want to be tempted & as DH has shown me latley he does not care if he sabotages me so if I have pre made meals for a few dinners he won't feel he is on a diet & try & get me off mine

My DH is much the same Jazzy and it really makes me struggle... He also insists on buying me treats which is sweet but unhelpful! Anyhoo I do all the shopping and plan all the meals so I am going to control it all bwahahahaha! I am sort of making us both meet halfway, so I can control my protions of higher point foods and have with a salad and he can eat larger portions of my 'healthier' stuff. We are having home made burgers tonight and I will have one, he will have two :)

Hi I am thinking about doing WW and DP has said he will do it with me.
I was wondering how many of you do it online vs meetings?
What do you find the pros and cons of each are?
Is there a price difference?
Anything else I should know?

online is way cheaper than meetings but not good if you arent self motivated. ive lost quite a bit doing it but i very rarely manage to eat all my points so sometimes have to boost it up with almonds or full fat milk etc but some ppl manage to eat all their points worth without too much trouble so i guess it depends on how your used to eating. i think that kind of answers then in a round about way

I'm not sure if i like the new plan yet, i feel like i am eating too much (still within points) to be losing any weight. I guess i will find out next week when i have my weigh in. I didnt count points last week as i was away in the gold coast. It does seem to be very popular though.

i have just started ww, on the day of the new launch thing so I dont know what the old plan was like, because Im breastfeeding I get an extra 10 points! Its very hard to eat them all, I feel like I dont stop eating, but its making me feel better and I definately have more energy
For anyone struggling to eat sooo much, I top up with dark blue milk to get all my points
Lost 900 grams in the first week, only 13.1 to go!!

Can someone please explain the new program I haven't done weight watchers in months so have been out of touch ?
|
Posted By: Kicker
Date Posted: 26 November 2010 at 1:39pm
The new program gives you around 29 points to be used daily - if you dont use them you lose them. You also get an extra ?49 points a week, to be used or not how you want ie 7pts extra a day or all 49 in one day. You also get exercise points.
Food is now worth more points on the whole, points are not worked out using KJ or cals just protein, carbs, fat etc. Fruit and most veg is 0 points, although it does say to eat these sensibly as they do have KJs, so no eating 100 bananas a day
I think thats about it.

Alex how are you finding the new program?
|

Yeah my shopping guide and eating out guide are the 2010 ed...pre propoints, and my calculator was the latest one before the propoints system came out. Just figured that if I was gonna follow the propoints plan then I would sell them off and get propoints stuff. But I may just continue with the old system I dunno.

Yeah they say a minimum of 2 pieces of fruit, and not go over board...but some ladies are eating 5 servings and managing losses. I'm thinking of rejoining just to get the starter booklets, and the essential kit. I'm tired of shelling out money for weight loss!, and their's plenty of support and information as a community user and on their fb page...and I still got my gym membership that I need start using more. And DF says its either one or the other...bit harder to get rid of a gym membership so I'm stuck with it lol.

You must be quite tall Jazzy?
I find I have tons of points left over for dinner...which was great last night because I got to have 2 small skinless chicken thighs and 1/2 pork chop (fat removed). We have family BBQ nearly every week and it's sooo much food (chicken, steak, sausages, patties) mayo ladened salads...and typically I'd have one of each...and then some more! But I stuck to my guns with small meat portions and zero point salads. Also am really digging 10 almonds as a snack. I love nuts and previously could easily eat a whole packet in one go, but now a packet lasts me over a week! and I can pick out 10 almonds and leave it at that. Also drinking lots of water lately...and my SIL commented on how good my skin was looking. I am determined to achieve my weight goal this year, making my health and wellbeing paramount. My DP, SIL and I have a biggest loser comp happening, each month we put in $10 and who ever loses the most fat percentage (or body weight percentage...not sure) wins the money at the end of the year....so extra incentive with it being christmas and DS's 5th bday!.

Eva - you sound so motivated, its great and i love the idea of the money challenge.
Jazzy, i am the same height as you but weigh less and so that is probably why you have a few more points, as you get lighter your points allowance goes down a little. I think 29 is the lowest points value you can have.
I think i am still pretty motivated, i am really trying to stay on track, i have lost 24kgs and have 4 to go, but i find its this stage thats so easy to slack off.
-------------

|

kicker that's what happened to me last yr, I lost 24kgs & then lost motivation. I had so many people continually commenting on my weight loss it got a bit much & then I push it by eating what I wanted & put back on 3.7kg but if I did it last yr & sure as hell can do it this yr.
With only 4kgs to you will do it

Thanks for sharing your points amount everyone- I love getting reassurance!! lol! I am finding 40 is plenty most days. TOday has been a fully week since starting and I have lost 2.3kgs. SO impressed!

I used all my points & 1 more yesterday I am glad there are extra points & I got 4 extra from walking, as I would of been really down if I had eaten more than allowed.

Im doing ww too, I quite like it - gets me out of the house (although DH cant be home intime for the next 2 months so I guess I will have to rejoin)
So I was 86kg after Portia was born, and now Im 75 - trying to get to 65 before I get pregnant again
Im on 39 points a day becuase of breastfeeding - I find I never stop eating!! sometimes I have to top up with Milk - but its definately great for ensuring I have the energy to keep up with my little piggy.
Now that she is on solids I may ease it back to about 35 for a while - need to see some more go!!

Welcome back Chickielou
Well i have been so crap with my points counting this week so far. But only 2.5kgs until my goal weight... must keep going.
Does anyone know if WW has started to bring out their food with the propoints values on yet, or does it still say the old points on the packets?

I see that they are advertising new ones in the magazine though and it looks as if they have kept some of the existing lines.

I joined up today! I get 29 points plus I exersize very hard out 3 to 4 times a week (very physical cardio/running/biking etc) so a bit extra for those days I guess. Am going to try to not use them if I can. The 49 extra sounds good too, I would hate to miss out on my weekly maccas fix with the kids! I've got 27 kg I want to lose. That will make me quite thin, (and hopefully quite athletic looking) but I figure that I will be able to "see the rot" quicker from that vantage point.

hey fats!!!!
yeah i dont really see the point in using the exercise points for food - after all to lose weight you are supposed to eat less than your energy output! but the weekly 49 are good - mine seem to be getting eaten up a bit today by nacho friday!

I don't think I will go to the meetings, TBH its not really "my thing", Im def more a plug away at it in my dark cave type of person, however I wanted to have to go each week and be accountable.

I know what you mean. I hate the thought of paying out to lose weight & after yrs of yo-yo diets the weight lose industry has made a fortune off me
I know the secret to weight loss, eat less move more & I basically did it by myself last yr so I know I can do it myself this yr.
For the last 2 days I have not kept up with it online so don't think I will keep it either & if I do join meetings I will do it after DS1 birthday in Feb but first I want to see how much I can lose by just eating right & cutting down portions.
DH is all for me joining & spending the $ to get all I want, but last yr he lost 15ks by eating what I gave him & he wants to lose another 10 this yr & already lost 2 of that like I have.
I need to lose at least 500g a week to stay on track & if I can't then I will have to join & more for the accountability.

Yep I know I can do it alone...I lost 15kg just plugging away by myself and taking photos of the scales each week for my folder. My sisters and I have a fb page where I post my scale pic each week (only done 3 pics so far) but it keeps me accountable. I hate paying all that money for weight loss too...my gym membership especially! needa make the most of the last few months of my contract cos I'm not continuing after that...and if I ever get a gym membership again it'll be for one very close to home.
