| Im 34 weeks +5 days, just got back from my midwife and she has estimated babies size to be around 3.5 kgs already thats about 7.7 pounds. Is it just me or should I be worried?? I have a scan booked for next week but am kinda freaking out at this point, I know its just an estimate but either way he's really big! |

Hiya I got told at my scan that because all this scan growths were in the 85th centile that he was gonna be a big baby, and he was! 3.93kgs lol, but then a lot of people on here im sure will tell you that scans aren't always that accurate, and also bigger babies are supposedly easier to birth then little bubbas as they can come down quicker and easier  ------------- http://lilypie.com">

Yup scans aren't always accurate!
I had one at 32 weeks and baby was estimated to be 2.6kg and she was 3kg at birth so that may have been accurate but I know of others who have been told they're having 9lbers + at 36 weeks to only have 7-8lbers! DPs cousin was told she was having a 7lber and bubs was almost 9lbs and his second cousin was told she was having a 8lber and baby was only 5lbs 3oz (or there abouts) ------------- http://lilypie.com">

It doesn't matter how big the baby is, its more the position of him that will determine how easy he is to birth, I know plenty of people who had problems with relatively small babies, and I know someone who had a 11lber with no trouble.
My Backup MW thought I was going to have a huge baby (kept talking about how she had never given birth to a 10lber before) at my 32 week checkup and he turned out 7.5lb. ------------- http://www.alterna-tickers.com">

I had a scan at about the same time in my pregnancy and my little (big) girl was about the same size, she ended up 9lb10 but only a 4 hour labour.

My DS was estimated to be well over 9lb by his due date, he was only a few days early but didn't even crack 8lbs.

I got told last week (36 weeks) after a scan that my baby is about 7 pound 10 and I freaked. But I have heard the scans can be wildly inaccurate and my specialist doesn't seem concerned about it at all. General consensus from people I've talked to is that big babies are not harder to birth necessarily, because gravity helps and they are pushing down in the right place. I understand how you feel though my first reaction was OMG how am I going to get him out? Im most likely having an induction soon so I won't go to date but even then I feel worried. But even if you worry you can't change it now and you'll get a nice healthy looking bubba when he is born :) that's how Im trying to see it.

| Thank you everyone I feel a lot better now I've have time to process it, he's in a great position atm hopefully he stays put, atleast I know he's healthy and I wont be worried if he's a bit early :) Seriously can not wait to meet him!! (Whatever size he may be) |

Also with the bigger babies, easier to birth because more force behind them and apparently 'gravity' lol but that's just my understanding!
Also with pushing, unlike the movies, you actually curl forward over your tummy whilst pushing to sorta help if that makes sense (at least if you are flat on your back anyway!) ------------- http://lilypie.com">

my midwife was sending me for scans as she thought i was carrying a big baby. He was 4.3kg so not that big and born at 39 weeks. Bigger doesn't mean bad, both my boys were big and were fine. -------------

I had a big baby 10lb10oz...
He eats well, slept through the night (12hrs) from 6 weeks and is super cute and bonny.. so there are many benefits of having a bigger sized bub!!!
