Is anyone else being inundated with offers from photographers from the Alk Parent and Child Show??
I was so excited by the first email, thinking I'd actually won something, but now I've been contacted by 5 different ones!

So far I've been offered:
- $180 worth of vouchers ($80 of it is for the session)
- free session and free 5x7 framed (two different places have offered this!)
- just a free session

I really want to take one (or maybe 2!) of them up, but I'm a bit worried about a hard sell to buy more pics!

So is anyone else getting the same calls/emails/letters?

Not photographers, just a bl**dy life insurance company phoning every 5 mins

I got the life insurance phone call and then also an offer (i think) for a free photo shoot plus one free framed 5x7 print- which would be one of the ones you (JadeC) got.
Havent had anything else yet though, but I dont doubt i'll get the life insurance guy call up again...

I didn't enter any of their competitions for that reason! There did seem to be an oversaturation of photographers at the show.

I signed up at a few photographers places last year as we had been thinking about a pregnancy shoot and never again - I got harassed something shocking by one of them! He literally phoned at least once a week at my work, on my mobile and at home wanting to book us in even after me repeatedly telling him we weren't interested. In the end DH answered a call at home and had to be quite rude and told him to stop calling as I'd already said we weren't interested, but the guy got annoyed with us saying no thank you and yet still phoned me at work one more time after that!! I didn't realise the pressure we'd be under!

I am a bit weary of all photographers 'free' deals now, but that's just me.

I had the life insurance people last year. They rang when I had no income and I think also the bar DP was working at was closing/had just closed and he had no income. Telling someone its for the good of their family and will only cost $5 a week when they have no income whatsoever isn't helpful. If I had $5 then fine, but I don't

I got the free photo shoot plus one free framed 5x7 print - haven't taken it up yet and am amused with DH being a photographer. Still, might be nice to have a pic with him in it!

Never trust a so called "free" photo shoot! My friend got sucked in by this at a wedding show and went along for the photoshoot and eventually got her 5x7 print - but she was soooo pressured to buy more I think she did in the end just to shut the guy up.

I asked for a price list, and they assured me it "just wasn't possible", but a framed 8x10 is $280. So unless a 5x7 is much lower priced, since the session costs $80, seems like we'd have to spend money to get anything, so I'm passing on that one. Not much of a "prize" as they're trying to pass it off.

how can it not be possible to give you a price list. Thats not a great way to run a business. Rude!

I got this one:

    * A one hour fun-filled photo shoot of you and your family (worth $100)
    * An exclusive viewing of your images
    * A framed 5" x 7" image of your choice (worth $150)

On their website you can get this for $50 so I wonder why its 'worth $250'? Does an 'exclusive viewing' mean you have to go back in to see your images?

Thats so strange they wouldn't give you a price list!

Jade C if the studio who won't let you see a price list is Southern Studios, then they are the most expensive darn place ever.
We got sucked in by them last year. We asked for a price list at our shoot, wanting to see how much we should budget if we decided we wanted any pics. They told us "no. not available". We should have known then. The pics were great but so so unaffordable for us (think $300 + for one photo). And they definitely hard sell

Vivid Photography is good...prices are not great but ok.

Haven't tried any others.

Yep, thats them! To be honest I don't really like their style of photos anyway, so not fussed about missing out on them.

I might have to make DH stop me from being pressured to buy from the others, I can be a bit of a wuss that way.

I've been to Southern Studios and his work is fantastic - pity about not disclosing the price list though

We won a Angela Scott voucher a couple of months back and wouldn't recommend them at all! Their costs were HUGE!!!! and if you bought a print about a certain size it HAD to be framed and they HAD to frame it and that of course was an extra cost!! We ended up getting very small wallet sized prints so we could get more than one and were really disappointed with them.
When we viewed them we were told they would be touched up (hair flying out the side of my head etc) but what we got were pretty much un touched. I actually emailed them about it and got the brush off. I personally think because we chose not to spend money with them they didn't do anything great. hmmmm
We did get a 'red' voucher from parent and child show. My boss got one last year and they enjoyed the experience, and the photos they got were really nice...........and yes they spent more money than they initially thought they would!!! ha ha. but they are suckers like that!
