Is it okay to eat Peanuts while breastfeeding? I don't know why but something in my head tells me that we are not supose to.
Is there any other foods we cannot eat or are we pretty much able to eat what we want.
Can you tell I am a first time mum????

hmmm, i'm pretty sure i ate peanuts....and still do. maybe if there's an allergy in your or your partners family then you should check it with your midwife first.
definitely steer clear of spicy foods as it really upsets poor bubs tummy. when i was a baby mum ate a spicy vindaloo and i wouldn't feed for about 24 hours and just cried and cried.
you'd think i would have learnt after that but when ikey was about 6 weeks old i had a curry and it upset him real bad, the curry wasn't even that spicy!

i didn't, but i have an intolerance to peanuts. if there is a history of allergy in your family, i would avoid it. That said, my mum ate tons of them while she was breastfeeding and it didn't affect me at all.

When you are breastfeeding you can eat pretty much anything. I think there are a few foods that can make your baby gassy like cauliflower, broccoli etc but I'm not sure. I never had trouble with Ella over food I'd eaten.. even curries.. infact I had a curry a few days after bringing her home from hospital and she was fine.
I actually read that it's a good idea to eat a variety so they get used to different tastes in your milk - and helps when they start eating solids - less fussy! Who knows if it's true or not but we have a brilliant eater now so maybe it is!

Yeah I have eaten whatever I want. I remember someone saying no chocolate but it never kept him awake. I do avoid coke and coffee tho. We have a very unfussing baby he will eat anything I am yet to find the end of his hunger he would keep eating and eating

I just read about this is the NZ Allergy magazine and a new study suggests no link to allergy if you eat peanuts while pregnant or bfing. If you have a strong family history of peanut allergy I would be wary tho
