OK - i know i should probably post this in product reviews but i kind of need an answer within 24 hours or so.. .

I have been looking around for prams that take a toddler seat and went to a certain local baby store today.

I test drove a Phil and Teds classic and am somewhat smitten.( I have only had cheapy prams before and didn't know what i was missing.) I have been quoted a price of $700 for the buggy, toddler seat and rain and sun covers. They said they would hold the price till tomorrow for me to sleep on it.

Is this a good deal and do they tend to hold their price well so when we come to sell we can still get something back?
cheers

edit for typos

Are the sun and rain covers both doubles?  If so I think it is a good price.  They are around $60 each unless you can find them second hand.  When I was looking for options - and checking second hand versus new, Phil and Teds seemed to do well which was why I bought new in the end.  That was about a year and a half ago, but it was the reason I bought new - I figured I would be able to sell it later at a really good price.

I would think that's a pretty standard price for the classic... most online places seem to have it for $499 single, $599 double + extras... There was a few places with good specials on before xmas - like Smiths City had the Sports model for $529 + extras, and Baby Universe had the Dash double pretty cheap too... Have you looked around online?

thanks - may go and check out Smiths then before making a decision - didn't know they did them!

the sun and rain covers were doubles

I have looked online, and the buggy price seems to be similar but can't see anyway doing a bundle of the the toddler seat and extras as a special deal.

Hmm - so much money! though i think it should improve the quality of my life. Just have to run it past DH yet

when I got my first P&T I got it from here http://www.winkalotts.co.nz/Brands_L_to_R/Phil&Teds/cd/phil&teds_Double_Classic_Buggy_-_NEW_MODEL.html - winkalotts ..

I would look around as there are always specials that come up.

Not sure where you are but Kiwibaby in Auckland often have good sales, I got my second one from them. http://kiwibaby.com/Home_Page.php - kiwibaby

I sold my P&T E3V2 double for a good price on TM & when I sold my Sports one with double kit, covers, bags, lazy ted, & a few other accessories I got $900+ for it, it was in great condition & was used as a car basically 5 days a week in good & bad weather. Few things I sold separate like the cocoon I got all my money back on as I bought it on sale.

I think if you can spend the money on a good pram & it is a model that resells well in NZ like P&T or MB then you will get a big part of your money back if looked after.

Also you don't need to buy everything at once. You could get the single pram to use now & get the other bits later.

Susie, we have the Sport... lots of people told us it was better than the Classic.

It's on special here: http://www.winkalotts.co.nz/default.aspx?T=213&P=1572

Sounds average, most are selling them for $400 single that I have seen minus accessories. Covers sell for about $60 each and not sure on the toddler seats though, but they're great because you can get a part for them to make them a bouncer too!
