So who is doing this and how is it different from the old points system?

I am gonna join WW again soon as Im keen to have that challenge of a physcial weigh in, Im quite competitive so hope that will get that streak going.

Just curious to know how the pro points system works and how it works for you?

ok the amount of points you get is based on your age height and sex.

the minimum number of pro points anyone is on is 29 up to a 72 a day.

you also get an extra 49 points a week which you can use for things suchas you get invited out to dinner etc.

you cannot carry points over each day so if you are on 29 points then you have to eat the 29 any left over get forfieted.

all fresh fruit is 0 pro points.

points are now calculated on protein fibre total fast and carbs. baiscally the higher in protein and fibre and lower in carbs in fat the lower the pro points this is because food high in protein and fibre use more energy to process the food than those high in carbs and fat

I like the weekly points better than the old system. It was too easy to cheat and starve yourself so you could 'save' points.

The new system is more sustainable. You eat your regular points every day, but if you have a night out then your weekly points come into play.

I have worked out that you can drink two bottles of Rose on your weekly points which is awesome if you want to have a big night out (not that I recommend you do this regularly).

can someone tell me how you join to get the books but pay as little as possible each month?

im keen but this $1 joining fee still means $68AUD to join online and does that include the books?
or are they extra on top....

and if i joined a meeting and went once a fortnight (so 2x a month) would that be cheaper? and do i still pay for books on top of the meeting prices?

Posted By: jazzy
Date Posted: 19 January 2011 at 11:33am
you need to go weekly to meetings, I think you can miss 2 meetings without paying for them.

I have been told you need the books to do the plan, but if you are doing it online you don't as all the info is there.

Try the 2 week trial online its free.

meetings are $18.50 weekly, books are on top.

thanks jazzy.

that means its too expensive for me to do.
ill stick to using spark people for now to track what im doing.

WW will have to wait until I am working full time again, my student budget doesnt really allow for it.

do the 2 week free trial online, then work out some meal plans & that may see you through. Then cancel it when the 2 week trial is up or if you keep it it works out to be approx $40 a mth NZ$ so $10 a week & you don't need books etc.

I joined WW last yr & only went a few weeks but got it enough from it to lose 24kgs by myself.

sorry have to read and run so cant read replies but i moaned and moaned about it the first week as i wasnt given a choice to do the new or old when i re joined..but i like it now..she did say that would happen..just found it hard getting used to everything doubling in points..i like that i can have fish and chips like today and not feel guilty..it's working for me almost 3kg in two weeks..

the points are higher with the new plan as the points in food are higher now. Check out the WW thread in the weight loss section as someone there is BF & get more points 40+ I think. So you do get more like the old plan for BF

Yes- I get 43. If I wasn;t breastfeeding it would only be 29 Enjoying all the fool while I can!

I started today. Got a calculator and an eating out guide and the other guide too. Felt guilty spending the money (got that $50 pack) but it will be worth it to start out as I mean to go on. ITs a bit of a wake up writing stuff down though! Woah! ive already lost 12kg on my own (and regained 3 over xmas, lol) but needed a bit of a kick in the pants so yeah. Im pleased I exersize quite hard so that give me a bit extra if I need it. Am looking forward to seeing results!

Man, they change the programme so often!! When I did WW back in 2004 sushi was really low points, I used to have it for lunch every day!

I do love WW though - I lost 15kg after living in Canada & eating far too much (and staying inside for six months hiding from the snow!), then lost 15kg again after I had DS1. I loved the motivation that going to get weighed in each week gave me

yeah me too.. i find it hard because i snack a lot and i like things high in carbs lol.. it is working for me though so shouldn't complain.. :)

So what are some good filling food that people are eating? Im not much of a bread eater so I usually have salads, but then find im hungry later in the arvo. Like KA said - Im liking the point free fruit.

I probably used my weekly points on lollies yesterday - oops! Making lolly leis for DSs bday and having a few snacks along the way

Not quite true... i think it says if you are fully breastfeeding (or worded differently) meaning the main food source for your baby. I breastfeed still but only twice a day and she is a toddler so i dont qualify for bf points.

you can bulk out your salads with avocado, hummus, nuts, cottage cheese, eggs - boiled egg whites have no points! You should try and make sure you have a protein in your salads anyway, maybe tuna or chicken, bit of ham.

thats good sheza.! yeah i have two bday parties over next two weeks but hopefully if i dont start snacking I'll be alright..the massive bag of lolly cake offcuts is getting hard to resist though:) i dont get why a foot long sub is less than sushi!!!

they never asked me about how often i bfed bizzy i did not know that..there you go:)

hunters- I am finding filling food hard..i normally have cheerios and milk for breaky and fruit..and then i snack a bit..:) then spag on toast(like 3 points a can vs 10 or something for tiny baked beans one!!!) and then i tend to run outta points towards night time:) I drink way too much sugar free v and zero cause they are 0 points lol:)

a classic subway 6 inch melt is 9 PP so i imagine a foot long would 18. whereas 100 grams of chicken and avocado sushi roll is 5 PP. and a four pack of crab and cucumber is also 5. so how is a foot long less than sushi?
oh and with subway the dressings are extra too and it would depend on how much was put on there.

One sushi roll is5 points, and most people eat 4-8 sushi rolls, I usually buy the 6 or 8 pack!

A subway roll is is 3-9 points

So subway is less points than sushi, unless you just wanna eat one sushi roll

*edited for shoddy typing lol

-------------

Posted By: Bizzy
Date Posted: 23 January 2011 at 2:15pm
its the subway salads that are 3 points not the rolls and the dressings are extra too...

each sushi 100gms is 5 points so if you are having 8 sushi thats 800gms - WW have the average 6 inch as 214gms. so sushi looks less but weight wise is more...

A sushi roll is cut up into 4 pieces I think. So an 8 pack would be 2 rolls.

yeah i wondered that... i suck at weights and measurements so wasnt sure how much the 100gms meant. i did see that they had at least 2 types as a four pack and they were 5 PP as well.

sheza glad its not just me..I've always been a shocking water drinker..doesnt help mum bought me 24 zero cans lol:)

see thats the problem too..i just guess at the size as well.. i assume 2 rolls is 8 pieces.. form what i got told sushi(8 pieces ) is 16 and a subway 6 inch (turkey and ham no cheese or bacon) is 7 so 2x7 =14..

i mean its working for me..but I'm not stoked with spending all my extra points on eating healthy lol:) i havent got the eating out book yet either so just going by what I'm told.. no wonder some people like the old system better..and it means the calculator and books adn stuff i bought are useless:(

Have you non-water loving gals tried drinking fizzy water? I hardly drink any water at all unless I have my soda stream on hand, and now I'm drinking 3 or so litres a day I'm even taking it on holiday to the beach on Wednesday!

I used to have a fab old soda stream machine I picked up in an op shop, but it died of old age...even with buying a new one it's still pretty economical!
