i got some but never used them....i know a lot of people won't use plastic anymore but we just used tommee tippee close to nature.. I found cleaning them a big issue and they also ended up too hot.. ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

I got the evenflo ones. Much cheaper than the 'designer' type glass bottles. I am finding them fantastic.
These bottles also fit a wide range of teats too. |

Yeah we have the evenflo ones as well. I didn't find them too much of an issue, if you are using them for breastmilk then you don't need to sterilise them, otherwise you can just boil for 5 mins in a large pot to sterilise them or use the milton tablets.
If you are worried about BPA, which is a very valid worry considering they are banning it in other parts of the world but don't want to go glass then medela bottles are BPA free and they can be bought at babycity/factory and online, but they also cannot go in a microwave sterliser so it's either not sterlising if using breastmilk or boiling/milton tabs for them as well, and that goes for the parts of their breastpumps too. -------------

All the good stuff in breastmilk does the job for you so you just need to wash in hot soapy water and rinse well with hot water and that's that. If you read the instructions of most pumps and the info you can get from mw's etc about pumping they all say you don't need to sterlise.
I use to sterilse the bits of my breastpump/bottles every so often though just to be sure. -------------

Yeah who has time to think about reading instructions when you have a newborn though! besides it doesn't hurt to sterilise anyway even if you don't need to. -------------

i did not know that either....yeah its prob just the type of glass ones we have and i need to be able to use microwave:) though there must be something in it cause i know several people who have glass bottles and none that use them .. ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

I just put my evenflo bottles in the dishwasher, along with the bits from the breastpump. Seems to get them very clean.
I don't sterilise anything. I really do not think it is necessary at all. |

We use evenflo ones, but use different teats from what they came with as our DD didn't like the slow flow rate. The teats we have came from Commonsense Organics - can't remember the brand (nature-something...)
I sterilized them when bubs was less than 3 months old but now I don't bother. We don't have a dishwasher but use a little circular scrubbing brush to wash them out and they are pretty easy to clean. You do have to be a bit careful with microwaving as they can get hot - 20-30 sec to heat 200ml of formula is about enough. |

As for the BPA, I'm pretty sure the Tommy Tippee ones are mostly BPA free now, I'm sure I read it on their website.

When I was feeding caden with TT bottles(08/09 they were that clearer looking plastic and then with Bella 09/10 they were the foggy looking plastic which I think is the BPA free ones?? ------------- |
