What's the difference between the different brands? So far I've seen Bumbo, Essian, Bebe Pod, Safety first, Jellymom.... They all look really similar?

I don't know, although I imagine as with most things it's a combination of getting what you pay for / sometimes paying a bit for a 'brand' name. One thing to check, though - pop Bubs in them before you buy, our boy doesn't fit in a Bumbo and another lady in the August thread had the same problem.

How long do you use them for?

We used our bumbo until the child could sit up by themselves, also it worked well as a portable eating chair, so really only from 4 mo to 8-9 months.

We use our Bumbo all the time! We don't actually have a high chair yet!

DS is bang on average, and fits in it snug, but seems to have a bit of room to grow, although when I pick him up it sometimes sticks to his bum Haha

We started using it from quite young, he was able to sit in it for 5 minutes to start of with just for the novelty, I think as long as they have good head control and you keep a really close eye on them they are ok.

I find it way better than the proper highchair at mums, cos the wee tray piece is actually at tummy height (so he can lean on it etc) rather than at eye height LOL! So its handy cos I can pop him in it and put food on the tray and leave him to it, while I eat next to him or something instead of having to sit there and hand him something each time he drops it!

We used our Bumbo heaps.....my boy was on the smaller side (in fact he still fits in it now at 3yrs old!) but I used to roll a cloth nappy / handtowel up and pop it in behind him! He started using it quite young, as soon as he had good head control, I think at about 3mths. I would pop him in it outside in the garden under the trees whilst I hung the washing out and things like that! We also used it for feeding once he started solids!  He never really liked his bouncy chair but he loved his Bumbo!

Thanks for that, friend warned me that with the bumbo you have to squish a chubby baby with a bulky mcn on in. I definitely want one with a tray, our highchair is a wooden push up to the table one so not really suitable til they're older. (& it's still dd2y's territory).

I have got a Bumbo and my DD loves it, well has done till now, she used it from about 3-4 months and I reakon it helped her to sit up, she could from 5 months. Now, she is wanting to get out of the Bumbo so I think we will be moving on to a bigger highchair. javascript:AddSmileyIcon('[:P]')

Can't help with the difference between brands but we still use the Bumbo's when we go to other people's houses (my girls are 12 months and on the small side).

I have a Karibu brand 'bumbo', it is the brand they sell at babycity so I tried DD in one first, but then bought it off trademe for $55 including the tray (sells for $100 at babycity without tray). Trader was Kiwibaby store so reliable and has been fantastic as a highchair (we don't have one yet, may not get one now in fact).

My baby even in disposables was never able to use the bumbo due to her thighs. By the time she was able to sit up in one she couldn't fit it. I like the safety first portable high chair with tray
