I need some more pockets for Ben but buying PUL and MF is not in the budget. I have some PUL scraps, do you think it would be ok to make a patchwork pocket? I should have big enough pieces to do the crotch and most of the way up the rise in 1 piece and then just separate pieces for the snap and wing sections - so 3 pieces of PUL for the outer. Do you think this would leak? I have some flannelette, if I put a layer of this on the outside would that help leak proof them?

Give it a go? I heard something about washing them in hot water helps seal around the stitches so they don't leak. Hopefully someone else knows more about that...i think if thats true/works then it wouldnt be a problem.

i think its the dryer that can help seal them.

A quick google found
"Because PUL fabric was originally developed to withstand the intense heat of sanitizing washers and dryers used in hospitals, it will certainly hold up in your home washer and dryer. In fact, washing and drying with HIGH heat can help to seal up needle holes and seams."
No idea if that helps, i've never sewn a nappy before but that was the only problem i could think of.

Thanks, will give it a go then. Sewing is a luxury at the moment as I don't really have the time so didn't want to waste my time
