I'm a late convert to cloth nappies, as I have struggled to find ones that fit DD's skinny legs. However we are having great success with Baby Cheeks ones as they have the leg fit thing!
From time to time we get leaks and I was wondering what the top tips people had for avoiding leaks. I try and check for whicking between the inner and clothes, but is anything else I can do? Am hoping to use them more with No. 2, so good to get some practice in! |

I found that I needed boosters in ours and we stopped getting leaks. Also 2 hours was the maximum for a long time, but now he drinks less milk (though more water) he pees less so a little longer is ok. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Have you tried prefolds with a cover that has a gusset. Thirsties, have a nice gusset on it. and the bummis super brite. I've got chubby thigh babies, but when the were just new they were scrawny, the fit fuzzi bunz and Honey child well. Have you tried Yoyo nappies. I have 1 that is good and they have a gusset. | Nah ....way too lazy for a prefold lol...if it involves folding pining etc them I'm not into it. Plus DD is 18 months now and would probablypull it apart. |

I have only been using cloth nappies for a short amount of time so I'm still having problems with leaks - can't help too much with that.
Just chiming in to say that you don't need to pin prefolds or do anything fancy.  Just fold them in thirds/quarters and place them in the cover. My prefolds and Bummis covers have never leaked, whereas I still have problems with pocket nappies.

The thirsties covers come with snaps that even I struggle to unsnap. I use prefolds on my 2.5 year old and he's to busy to think about taking them off. I second the Yoyo covers. they are bombproof.
IMO it depends a lot on whether you are using pockets/AiOs or a cloth nappy & cover system. I really liked Jan's shaped cloth nappies and covers and found them miles better than even her pockets, which have the same shape - but it's hard to beat a double-double gusset (nappy plus cover). With the pockets I did find they would wick on to clothes on the odd occasion (this isn't just Yoyo, tried loads of others and they were all worse) |

baby cheeks are good nappies. I was involved in the trial of them before they were released.
To prevent leaks you might want to look at how much you have in the nappy and how long you are going between changes. Make sure clothing isnt too tight around their nappy as that could cause compression wicking and make sure they have a clean one on before getting in the car if that is when it is happening.
