Has anyone used excel to do the day to day accounts for a small business. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on how to set it up?

I have used it for our accounts.

Our accountant gave us a template to use. If you have an accountant maybe ask them - that way it will match their systems when it comes to year end.

Yip, I use it for my husbands farming business. I export the transactions from Internet banking into excel. I then classify each transaction, from there you can do either sumif formulas or create pivot tables. Depending on how you want your info. I find this is great for doing GST Returns, and just have to put it all together at year end.

I'm a bit of an excel geek, so any questions just ask :-)

I have used it for Playcentre (I am the treasurer), we had a brilliant spreadsheet system which was very well developed. However I have just got approval to move to a web based accounting system and finding it heaps easier and quicker. I suppose it depends on what you are wanting to do with the system and how big your small business is
