Hi all

I'm looking into cots at the moment and the Urban Baby cot on the  http://www.cileknewzealand.com/shop/Urban+Baby/Urban+Cot.html - Cilek website has caught my eye, I adore it!  BUT I can't find any reviews on it...has anyone had experience buying from this website, especially this cot or brand?

Thanks

Looks quite funky - I've never seen one of these before.
One thought - I wonder, when they get to the 'standing up at the side of the cot' stage, if they might bump their head on that ledge overhang thing?

Thanks for your comment Sally, I don't think I'll go for it unless I can sweet talk someone into having a look for me since they're available in an Auckland shop but I'm in Dunedin!  I'm a bit worried about spending $800 on a cot sight-unseen!

Oooh Kirsty if it's nearby to you that'd be fab thanks!  If not, don't worry, thanks for the offer   The shop is called Urban Kids, 93 Victoria Road, Devonport according to the website - http://www.cileknewzealand.com/Contact+Us.html - http://www.cileknewzealand.com/Contact+Us.html

I guess what I'm hoping to find out is how sturdy and safe it feels, they also said its made of pine and MDF, so I'm just wondering what parts are made of MDF.  I thought that if its the decorative parts like the rounded top that'd be ok, but then it was pointed out to me that that is where bubs would bite, and MDF swells so might look ugly and munted/swollen after being nibbled on!  Plus how easy/safe/durable is the drop side.  And anything else a new mum might need to konw about it since i really have no idea what I'm looking for!  Thanks heaps if you or anyone else is able to go!

I've also notied that there's a place in Wellington that sells them if anyone from down there is interested and/or passing by and feels like doing a good deed for me!  Cilek Strawberry Kids, Level 1 Capital Gateway Centre, 34-56 Thorndon Qy, Thorndon.

Hi Wimble,

I kind of live on nearly the other side of Auckland but always enjoy looking at kids shops, especially new ones. I've also been meaning to catch the ferry from half moon bay to devonport with a friend so will hopefully do so soon. Do you have a time frame in mind?

Hi Kirsty

That'd be awesome!  But please don't go out of your way for me!  Um not really, some time in the next month or so we'll start looking at cot options around town I guess?  If we find something else before I hear from you again I'll let you know so you don't go all the way there for nothing!

Thanks heaps! x

Hi,..

I had this one for my 1 year old daughter..
It's pretty good for me, my daughter start slept on it when she was 6 weeks old. I bought mine from the Cilek Strawberry Kids in Wellington.

Hope this is help you to decide

Hi Mellinda

Do you find it easy to drop & raise the side?  Is it one-handed or two-handed?  Does it seem sturdy to you?

Thanks!

Hi ..

Sorry for the late reply..
Yes it is really easy, to drop it you use ur foot to push it (see the bottom part of the pic, there's a white little shape) and lift it a bit then you can drop it. It sounds like to much hassle but in reality it's not, not for me tho. And to raise the side all you do is pull it up..This cot is one-handed, so you can hold the baby in the other arm.

It does sturdy also..
before i bought it the guy in the shop was jumping on it (without the mattress) to prove that this cot is strong..and in many occasion either me or my husband get in the cot to play, sleep or just give our daughter company.

Well thats all from me. If you still have a question please feel free to ask, I'm more then happy to answer

Cheers,

Mellinda
