I need a super bra for running to protect the milkers from the bounce and tug. Doesnt have to be a maternity one with clippy cups though thats a bonus...am not really concerned with how it looks either, if its industrial with 4inch thick straps then its all good.
Ability to but online a bonus as we have sweet FA stores here (Farmers is about it.)
Oh - and only for c cups, nothing drastic.
Anyone?

I do highland dancing so not running, but still jumping up and down!
I just used my normal sports bra, but I would sometimes wear a singlet with the inbuilt bra piece, the extra layer seems to help hold them a big 'firmer'.... I'm a FF though so if your a bit smaller might not matter quite so much? I did have a friend suggest to wear a normal BFing bra overtop, I guess it would do the same thing?
I did find I would get quite achy boobs after a wee while but I'm not sure if that was cos of the underwire or cos I was throwing them around a fair bit

The only nursing sports bra I've found is the La Leche one sold at belly beyond and breastmates. Have no experience with them tho.
Otherwise I've always liked bendon sports bras, am sure you must be able to find them online

Thanks, i have a couple of regular bras already but they arent as firm as i'd like...perhaps if i get it a size smaller and really strap 'em in it'll work.
Off to breastmates, thanks Booski
Moocow thats awesome you do highland dancing! Really impressed with that.

The sports maternity bra at Breastmates is great, I bought one not long ago. I'm not a runner, so it hasn't really been tested properly, but I've done a couple of home Zumba sessions and its been great.

Hey Bowie,
I had the very same problem as you 3 weeks ago (and my buba was 6 weeks old then also!) I really wanted to get back into running, as that is a sure fire way to drop the kilos (ya!) I honestly hunted high and low for a decent non-underwire sports bra. (I gave up on a maternity sports bra - too hard) Most of the non-underwire sports bras don't have individual moulding for each breast, and it is more like a shelf bra. I'm not really a fan of that for running, too much movement!
I ended up trying on heaps of bras at hot gossip, so many of them didn't pass the bounce test. You know the big jump on the spot in the dressing room to see just how far the boobs move & hurt!! :-)
I ended up finding a fantastic bra by Triumph called triaction. (http://www.littlewoods.com/triumph-tri-action-extreme-sports-bra/498297427.prd) I swear my size 14 DD's are secure and safe in that while I go running. I don't hurt or ache afterward a run. Trust me it was an exciting find! And I find that even when bubs is crying for a feed afterwards I just slip a should strap down my arm and its quick access for him. So it wasn't a big deal that it wasn't a nursing bra.
Hot Gossip has a website www.brashop.co.nz but I couldn't find this bra in there. They do have a returns policy if a bra doesn't fit. So I am sure you can always ring them up at a shop and they will be able to help you out by ordering via website or over the phone.
Hope this helps somewhat! And hope you enjoy your running! I know I am loving getting back into it - even though its only 2-3km a day so far. I am aiming for 10km run in the Huntly Half at the end of May. I found out today they allow strollers, so I'm stoked! :-)
PS: Sorry I tried to upload a pic of this bra, but didn't work. I just read in OhBaby FAQ Forum that need to have posted 100+ before being able to access photo gallery... maybe that is my problem..!

Hah, thanks!! I will ring the farmers in town and see if they have one. I am entered in a 10km in a month too, but i'll be walking it for sure. I don't mind if it doesnt drop cups was just looking for something that meant NO MOVEMENT

That looks like a good one, thanks for the tip!
For my two mighty 20 min jogs I have been wearing a Bendon sport 12DD over a maternity bra...with a supportive singlet over that, hehe. But it does have an underwire and is a bit tricky to get all that on, so might try the Triumph one (never wear underwires usually).
ETA - good luck for Huntly 10k training smw85, my club organises it so I might see you there!

When I started back I just got a Bendon sports bra (when they had there $20.00 sales) and then put a gym top with a shelf bra over the top for added support.
It was excellent for running and cheap because obviously the plan is to lose weight, so I didnt want to fork out heaps of $$. :)

I don't run but I was looking for a concrete bra Anyway, http://www.sportsupport.co.nz/sports_bra.html - THIS ONE is out of this world for support. It's a bit pricey but was worth it for me.
You probably wouldn't want to wear it before/after running as it is seriously supportive and may affect your milk supply (so might be your running possibly).

Bumping this thread, just in case anyone has spotted anything awesome and affordable lately? I'm still doing the three-bra approach but it's getting too ouchy on the longer/wet runs.
It might be worth getting something like the Oprah bra if it worked, but it's a lot of $ to gamble...maybe I'll try the Triumph one first.

The Enell bra in that link is soooooooo worth the money. I got one when I was a 16H and it lasted me til I was down to a 12E when I finally decided to buy a smaller one. And even though I had shrunk that much it still provided more support than any other sports bra I've ever worn and I've tried so many.

Ooooh. Thanks for the bump spacette i still am rocking a maternity bra, a one size too small sports bra and a running singlet combo. I hesitate to spend that much on the oprah bra without at least trying it on. Might go traumatise the farmers bra fitter!

Haha, that's exactly what I wear. Had to try just a tight crop top thing + nursing bra today cos the others were in the wash and it wasn't good (and then we got a totally flat tyre on the stroller, grr). Let us know how you go at farmers - that Triumph one they have did look quite good but $60ish is still a a lot for me (usually get the under$20 ones at Bendon outlet, haha).
That's a good recommendation kebakat! I'll have to get saving (and not buy any more nappies). The site does say you can return if not satisfied (if tags on etc) so could be worth a go considering how much I'd use it.

I liken it to a corset for your boobs. It really does like strap them in and keep them in place so almost no bounce which is really really good if they are filled with milk. I used it while BF.
By the time you spend money on a sports bra, crop top for over top of that and supportive top etc it probably adds up to a similar amount to just buying a really good bra and because it doesn't have underwire it doesn't have cup sizes so if you loose weight or if you are engorged that day it doesn't matter.

I'm convinced, just got to get some $ now. My setup is chafing too much.

Yeah, it's totally attractive.. judging by DF's comments, the milk machine aspect plus the triple bra + chafing means I'm probably safe from being UTD again in the forseeable future (Still have the odd 'MILF!' heckle from munters in cars when running, and get the urge to yell back 'seriously, I don't think so.')
Shame about Farmers, could they order it in? Guess if they're doing that you might as well get something online.
