Im in my mid 20's and have always had quite bad skin with breakouts. It got better when I was using a range called Environ but since stopping work I can't really afford the $60 cleanser plus the other stuff.

Does anyone reccomend any particular type of skincare thats not too expensive. My skin is combination skin and doesn't like to be overly dried out.

I've tried the avon clearskin range and that didn't work, as well as the dermologica plus topical creams etc from the doctors.

Being pregnant it seems to be getting worse!

Cetaphil skincare cleanser.
they do a soap free cleanser and do an ance prone skin one
you can use the acne one on the acne prone skin, and the normal one everywhere else.

its pretty reasonably priced bearing in mind its from a pharmacy, a 250ml pump container is around $29.99 but they do smaller (and bigger) sized containers. and most pharmacies should have trial sachets

I second the cetaphil. I haven't used it personally myself but have seen the effects on my neighbour and it was great. She gave me a sample for my daughter but we ended up going down the acutaine route as her father had to do that as a young adult. Obviously you can't do that with being pregnant etc.

I had real problem skin, and the thing that fixed it was using nothing at all!!
I tried every product range out there and nothing worked. Then I just started washing my face with water and a facecloth, and using a little bit of moisturiser if I needed it (which wasn't that often as water doesn't dry skin like cleanser).
My skin isn't perfect, but it is so much better than it ever was before.

I third Cetaphil, I've started using it on my very oily skin and it's dried it up (not out) completely.

Mum_Mum I feel your pain. I have had a problem with acne through my 20s (Im 24 now) on and off, not all the time but sometimes I break out. I got tricked during pregnancy, my skin went perfect and it was great! Now Ive had baby it's broken out. The only thing Ive used that has helped has been the neutrogena acne wash (orange bottle) and I have tried a lot, hehe.

You could also try taking Silica. It's great for hair, nails and skin. The problem with topical skin treatments is it doesn't help solve the problem, it just masks it.

I have been using nivea.
I used to have pretty bad skin but during this last pregnancy I was only washing my face once a day (in the morning) and my skin has actually been looking the best it has for years.

So maybe you could try just washing once a day and see what happens. Though if I have been wearing makeup (which isn't very often) then I was it off before bed.
