So ok there has been lots of speculation about where I've been...B had the day off today and we toddled up to Orewa and enjoyed lunch at a Mexican cafe sitting in the sun and relishing one of our last times together as a couple.
Also indulged in a little more shopping at Mama Mia's...darn Tracy and her gorgeous little baby outfits!
We decided it would be nice to take some time out just the two of us before letting everyone know our updated situation.
We have now been booked for an induction at 7.30pm on Thursday night and little miss stubborn will be coming on out here whether she likes it or not!!
I had an appointment with Monique this morning and Maddie is still stubbornly sitting at D1 though Monique did have a better shot at doing a cervical sweep. It caused a bit of a show but nothing to really get excited about...more to do with someone poking me up the fufu than any great desire on Maddie's part to move!!
She then managed to get me into the hospital for assessment so we went in there just after 10.00 and I got checked out by the doctor in there who then booked the induction.
Maddie is doing great and appears as healthy as an ox and very comfy! But they have said that considering her size and my size and the suspected mild gestational diabetes, it's time for her to be forcibly evicted. Unfortunately Thursday is the earliest they could do but it is very nice to have the end in sight!!
We're still hoping she'll appear on her own but one way or another by the end of the week we'll finally be holding our little princess!
I'm just hoping the induction works and that I can deliver naturally without having a c-section. Fingers crossed!

Must vary I guess from doctor/midwife to doctor/midwife, because I was in at 7.30 am!! I had 2 lots of gel administered so that was my lot for the day. Ended up emergency CS anyway!

i had one at lunch time and gabriel was in the morning, oh two in the morning cause they tried twice with toby.
paws be prepared to spend the night in hospital with nothing happening on thurs then ... i know with mine they wanted me to go to sleep at night so if i went into labour i had some sleep in me - i wanted to stay up and keep walking and bring it on. (result - fight with midwife who i screamed at not to touch me.) but i did both without a c section...
so good luck - and i'll send you some labour vibes, not sure how good they be tho seeing as i dont seem to go into labour naturally myself.

Yeah they told me to bring my bag and that I'll be there overnight. They also said that if nothing is happening they'll send B home and let us both get some sleep...only problem being B is not so sure he will want to go home to lie awake and wonder if anything is happening, how I am, if I'm getting any sleep, if they will call, if they have lost his number and can call....
Isn't he a sweetie!!!??
Still holding out hope that she will move on her own but still not looking likely, but then we had a good idea the attempted sweep probably wouldn't do anything.
Plan for the next 3 days is get as much rest and relaxation as possible!! Not that sleep does anything for me these days but may as well get as much rest as I can.

When I was induced at night DH had to go home...and yes, he was awake the whole night. My waters broke at midnight and then I had contractions but very manageable. Text DH to come at 6.00am as they were getting worse. Knocked on cafe Laffare's door explaining that his wife was in dire need of a good coffee (they were closed but the lights were on! So by the time DH got there, I had my coffee, was checked and told I was ready to go (push that is). I guess the thing for me was that it would have been good to have DH with me during the night for some support but WGTN hospital have a strict policy re partners

Yeah DH wasn't allowed to stay with me the night Ashlee arrived! I was petrified of staying with this thing that I had no idea what to do with if it woke up! That was in L/Hutt hospital. I've heard some horror stories about Wgtn hospital.
Sorry for the threadjack

Ah crap now I'm panicking!! The last thing I would want would be to go through that much labour by myself!!
I hope North Shore won't be that strict!!! It seems insane not to let your partner be there.

When my waters broke when i had kobe they told hubby to go home but i said hell no. they thought nothing would happen till the morning but i was taken down to labour ward by midnight. there is no way i could have done the first part without darron, who would have held the spew bucket hehe!

That's awful not to let hubbys/partners stay while you wait or labour!!! Mine asked last night if I'd really want him to come home from work if my labour had just started... it's not like anything's gonna really be happening, he thought...... uh, suffice it to say if I'm in labour, I want him RIGHT THERE! It's very mean for a hospital to let a woman wait by herself for induction to kick in. Hmph!
Paws - maybe you could talk to your midwife about that? See if she has a 'policy' on the issue, and she'd know how strict the hospital there is about that stuff. Not long for you to go now - eeek! Very soon you'll be cuddling your gorgeous daughter and it'll all be over (well, the labour part anyway!). Thinking of you.

NSH isn't strict about partners during labour, they're really nice about it actually - so I'm sure you'll be fine and B will be able to stick around.

When I was in there two weeks ago, they were going to induce in the morning, so at around 11pm when labour wasn't progressing they gave me four codeine, a larazapam and sent Nick home for a sleep before the main event (which as you all know, NEVERY HAPPENED!). I'm sure that if you are anywhere near being in active labour they won't send B home. Chances are, they'll give you a gel to 'soften things up' at night time, a sleeping pill or two and wait until the morning to step things up. Given that nothing much will probably happen straight away and they'll have you on the ward rather than in the delivery room until stuff starts, the sleepy time will be the best prep for your both (and Maddie). The moment anything serious starts to happen, they'll be shuffling you into a delivery room and B can take up residence on the recliner in the room for as long as it takes.
Anyway, give the delivery suite a ring and talk to one of the midwives about what exactly is going to happen - they can clear it up so that you know in advance. And if you are in at night, say Hi to Erin (the American midwife) - she's really nice.

Since my labour was 48 hours long and nothing was happening the first night I was moved to a ward and hubby was not allowed to stay (Middlemore). He went to his Mum's to get some sleep, needless to say we were txtng each other the whole night. But once I was moved to the birthing room where I spend alot of time, both DH, my Mum, my Aunt and MIL were allowed to stay in the room. Then Aunt and MIL were told to leave when it came time to push......and then DH and I were in OT.

Thanks for the reassurance Maree! I feel a LOT better reading that!! I don't mind getting some sleep overnight if nothing is happening and B is sent home but once things start....no way I want him going anywhere (and he doesn't want to!!).

Te he he... under the radar?!? I feel like I've been totally harassing the forums on here in the last couple of days! Today is a self-imposed house arrest so you guessed it - a spot of boredom set in. Cool idea, Janine - that sounds lovely. pop your cell number in a PM and I'll save it in my phone. Dunno how long I'll stay there - I'm being uber flexible about it at this point!
So, Paws..... it really IS the final countdown now - you can start counting the HOURS instead of the days (woo-hoo!).

Wow Paws, all the best!
When I was in "nearly"-labour with #2, I was admitted to (Palmy Nth) hospital at midnight and DH was given a mattress for the floor lol it was about 2 inches thick!!! As it turned out, I contracted all night long, and the previous day, but nothing really properly happened until my waters were broken after 8am. So... I'd ask if he can stay, it looks like they would be able to accomodate if they want to.
