Lewis got a job yesterday ! woohoo. He'l be a duty manager at one of the local bars. Only thing is, I've just realised that I wi,ll be a SAHM...by myself...for the first time in a loooong time. and I'm kinda freaking out. Now, I know I CAN do this - I've done it before )and quite frankly, might be easier without Lewis to clean up after too), however I really worry about losing my sanity, as the kids drives me nuts at times. So, how do SAHMs stay sane??????

Hahah yeah, I was going to say... your topic presents a complete oxymoron!
But insane is ok. I don't even have the SAHM thing as an excuse!

I lost my sanity a long time ago. You just manage to wade through the insanity and muddle through. If all else fails sit in the corner humm and rock like you have never rocked before.

I can feel the cracks from time to time as well!! I normally just get on out for a walk to town or spend my time gasbagging (online or on the phone or go for coffee)!!
I wouldn't prefer to do anything else!

lots of time out whenever possible, playgroups etc to tire the kids out :) whatever gets them playing quietly at home!
and i subscribe to the thought that sanity is overrated. i havent had any for quite some time and i am doing fine!!!

I like to take the kids on an outing a week, say to the park or the library etc. Speaking of the library, we have an awesome set of books at ours called "Your Child at Play". It is all about preschoolers' (birth to 5yrs) development and helps me understand what they're really thinking and trying to do, and that helps me stay sane
And join or get a mums' group going each week or fortnight. It's great!

Yep groups, coffee group, music groups anything to get out of the house. I know in chch there are heaps of free groups to like a music and movement at the local church is only a gold coin donation adn a free playgroup run by plunket on fridays. We have music mondays, coffee group every second tuesday, plunket coffee group every wednesday my neice and little girls friend on thursday and friday is play group. everything is in the morning so by the time i get home at lunch time i feed kobe and then he has a sleep then we try and go for a walk in the afternoons if its nice or read lots of books, play games and watch tv. I find since ive had adult company and been out of the house in the morning Im more prepared to give him time in the afternoon

Luckily we have playcentre twice a week, and I'm thinking of doing mainly music as well, depending on the time of day (Jake REALLY needs his afternnon nap). Thank goodness, the boys are starting to synchronise sleep times. woohoo!
