I used Eco store washing powder for all our washing. However i have heard that i should not use Eco store with my itti bittis?? My problem is my baby ( all of my children) have bad skin. So what ealse is there that is natural and wont hurt the nappies or my childrens skin? I asked on the Itti Bitti FB site a wee while ago and karyn said eco store is fine :)
She also uses Earthwise on them- but I'm not sure how that would go with sensitive skin?? |

I used Amolin for DD's nappies, and still use it with her clothes too. Have never had a problem with build up. I did use soapnuts for a bit but DH said the nappies still smelt after using them (I have no sense of smell so had to take his word for it!) ------------- DD 4yrs DS 2yrs http://lilypie.com" rel="nofollow">

| I use Amolin too, for washing everything. DS has sensitive skin, and Amolin is great for this. Awesome for nappies too - I've never had to do a strip wash at all. |

Thanks laddies. I was told it is bad for the elastic in the ittis. I will just keep using it and will maybe try some Amolin as well. I have used that before with my daughter. Go Eco Brand. Im extremely sensitive to laundry powders. I get all itchy and rashy the past few years. I will dissolve it in warm water before adding to wash. Also i use baby napisan and soak over night every night if they are stained poos or else ill do it once a week then will put in wash in morning normal cold wash with the ecobrand :) comes out all white like new and smells so great. ill never use baking sode like how some people do. i tried it on some of my own clothes and it felt very yuckie and got an infection where i had cut myself deeply when i tried it...as soon as i moved back to ecobrand it cleared up. but everyones diff thou. ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

I tried ecostore and it did NOTHING to wash my nappies, I even used double the amount they say to use. My night ones still come out stinking like pee, as well as my day ones. I wouldnt use it for that reason. -------------

if that happened then your not doing it right. are you dissolving it before adding to the wash? sounds like you could be putting them in a too short of a wash, wash them like normal clothing in a cold long fast spin wash, its what i do (after 24hours in babynapisan). ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

If you're worried about smell, baking soda really does remove smells from nappies. I use 1-2 TBSP of a half and half mixture of baking soda and washing soda crystals (which I get in bulk from Bin Inn, and it's very cheap!). I have never had a problem with smells being left over.
Oh, and it won't cause infections (???) so don't worry about that too much. |

I don't know how baking soda caused an infection either???? But I use it to strip the inserts and in my normal wash if they're a bit stinky..
I used to use ecostore but found washing in plain water was much the same so I don't use it anymore. Soon I'll be trying RockinGreen. Can't wait. |

i get an infection when baking soda gets on anything thats been an open wound or a rash on me its weird. same with starch from potatoes. im more worried about killing bacteria. i dont know how ill do doing it when bubs is around the age of your children shes only 3m so far (her poos stains hard) ------------- http://alterna-tickers.com">

Yes, I agree, it is amazing for that! What do you do in winter though? Does it work if it's cloudy? (Legit question; I have never used cloth nappies in winter before. )

Nar I just use Rockin Green now, fabulous stuff. You shouldnt soak your MCN in napisan at all, even the baby stuff. It breaks down the PUL and stuffs them much faster. You shouldnt need to soak MCN at all, putting them in a dry pail will work fine. And no Ecostore is Cr*p in my opinion, I tried it on a long cycle or a short one and it still doesnt do anything. Each to their own tho, if it works for you then thats great. -------------

Yup, if it's overcast it does but if it's like black as and raining it wont lol even having them on a clotheshorse inside by the window will help.

Ah you changed your name... I have mine hanging over the fire on a special rack on a pulley, if any are 'stained' as per say I put them in the sun on a clothes rack. If you rinse your ittis in hot water with a scrubby brush before you dry pail them, then you will get hardly any coming through the wash with poo still on them. Its only winter anyone, once spring comes around you can put them out in the sun then! -------------
