Has anyone got any tips on Colic? My children never had any problems with Colic but a friend of mine is having a hard time with it and because its something I haven't had to deal with I'm not sure what to do or say!

Change to "reduction of colic" bottles (NUK makes some good ones), some women's breast shapes mean that the babies don't get the full "airtight" latch which means they can swallow more air so switching to expressing to bottle feed can help.
Infacol and other wind concoctions from a pharmacy to get rid of what wind the baby has.
A ride in the car or a pushin a buggy can get it all jiggled up as well!
Normally you have to go to the source rather than treat the symptoms to stop it. Also some babies have gastric reflux that can present as colic, get her to check her symptoms at the http://www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz - Crying Over Spilt Milk Website.
I hope that your friends baby can feel better soon!

you can get nipple shields that can help as well.
also, pressure on the stomach can help relieve the pain, hold bubs facing away from you so that his/her tummy is pressing on your arm and rock them like that for a while, that used to be the only way mikey would go to sleep.
also, sucking can sometimes help a bit, so if the baby will take a dummy it might be a bit of comfort.
hopefully your friends baby gets over it soon, i know its horrible.

Your poor friend! I can totally relate to the hell of having a colicy baby!
We switched to formula, use Avent "anti colic" teats and Avent "anti colic" dummies (as recommended by Karitane Nurse as the sucking strenthens the food pipe and keeps the food down - more of a reflux issue but has also helped with Caitlin's colic)
Also, Infacol at each feed. I know there's a major shortage of it in the shops but I found an unopened bottle on trade me and also a pharmacy website that had some www.netpharmacy.co.nz
And... Tell your friend to prop the head end of the cot up (we used 2 yellow pages books) this helps keep food down and wind up
Good luck!
