Hi
DS has been on formula since he was born, lately we have noticed that the one he is on which is the nurture gold for hungry babies might be giving him belly ache now, he has a cold at the moment but has gone off his bottles abit, tonight i went and brought a sachet of the nurture red tin which is from 6 months onwards and gave it to him before he went to bed, will see if it makes a difference. But i did notice there was a tin for 1 year onwards, he is 1 in 2 weeks but i have no idea what one to give him if it does work, im only guessing that the old formula might be upsetting him abit now, but since he is nearly 1 shouldn't i be getting him used to cows milk aswell ?
Im abit confused about it all

If he is eating a well balanced diet then he doesn't really *need* a formula after 1 year, he can go straight onto cow's milk.
It's up to you really, you could try him on cow's milk and see how he goes, or perhaps use up a tin of the nurture red and slowly change him to cow's milk as the tin runs out.

My kids did not go onto cows milk till around 2yrs old. I put them on the 1yr formula well after turning 1yr. I started using cows milk in their b'fast & mash at around 1.5yrs so not using much. When I stopped them on formula around 2yr they had one that was for older children, can not remember what it was called but you made it up to be a drink, they would of had a couple of them a day & a cows milk bottle as well.
Just do what you feel happy with, the only thing I would say is don't give cows milk to an under 1yr old.

As a drink - it's ok in cooking or on cereal after 6mths...

I have my girls on a mix of cows milk and toddler formula, at 20 months old. They have 1/2 cows milk and 1/2 formula in their bottles. I'm a slightly neurotic mum who likes the reassurance that they are getting vitamins in their milk even though they eat a fairly good variety of food (except most vegetables, especially green ones ).

I must be neurotic too, mine have all stayed on the age-appropriate formula til at least 3 as well as eating a healthy well-balanced diet. Some may argue they don't NEED it but I'm happy doing what I'm doing. Just do what you feel comfortable doing. Dd2y switches between the Toddler & Junior formula depending on what's on special (same brand though), & it doesn't seem to upset her belly. I wouldn't worry about 2 weeks difference.
