lol Mike used to be a real boy racer he had al ittle silver civic which i called the pocket-rocket. him and his mates used to have those strips accross the front of their windscreen.. and they all said team Jetspeed.. this was over 7 years ago.. now i see heaps of cars everywhere with team this or that on them.. back then i never did. lol.. and it was fun.

I dunno, hhm something random about me.. I used to be a gymnast.. i think some people know that, I quit when i was about 17.. cos i got sick of it. Geez i wish i had stuck with it sometimes.. but still i thinkit helped make my abs really good, lol they have fallen back into place again finally, after having Ayja over a year ago. but now they are returning to pre-baby state and i think it's cos of all the grueling training they got for so many years. YAY.

Yum that chocolate thing sounds like a good idea (she says while looking at her cup of tea, then at her Moro gold, then at her cup of tea again )

Well... Jess knows this already, but I was on a television ad when I was 18mths old (back in 1985!) for Treasures nappies! I danced around on stage in only a nappy to the tune of Swan Lake and my picture from that ad was on the ends of shopping trolleys around that time and when we used to go shopping, we'd always have to get the trolley with my face on it There's a framed picture of it in Ashlee's room! Will have to take a pic of it and post it hehehe

Okay this is the first thing that came to mind:

when I was in high school I was given a cellphone for my 14th birthday from my grandma and I was so embarrassed.. none of my friends had one, infact hardly anyone I knew had one.. thought it was a really stupid present as I had no one to text. Within the next 6 months, most people had one and I was happy with my present.. although mine was now outdated and I wanted a new one lol

That's hilarious about the cellphone!  And I'm curious to see the Treasures ad pic too... go on Kirsten...

Um, first thing that pops into my head is that I played the violin for 5 years before taking a break and later switching to drums (grrrr, yeah baby!).  And I can't bear the undersides of my lower arms getting wet (unless I'm swimming or bathing) - weird.

man where do i start. I used to do kick boxing, loved it and wish i still did it, might on day when the kids are older. I used to do cycling and still have the thighs to prove it. I am extremely claustrophobic, if i get into a lift by myself i have to cover my ears and pace until it stops. I also hate moths and spiders (but who doesnt) and I wont walk into a pub or restaurant by myself.

hey baalamb I won the auckland baby show at just under a year old (i walked at 9 1/2 months) and walked up to robert muldoon (the judge) and put my arms up and said "UP?" - mum swears that is what made me win...and then I was the baby on a baby soap for a while too....you reminded me of that and now thinking I may do a collage of the photos for bubs room - would look cool as often wondered what to do with them = they have me in mums arms posing for soap packet....totally cute....thanks for the ideas of that....whether you intended or not...tee hee

I played Violin for years (3yrs old-20ish) I got an electric one at 15 and was in the nat youth orchestra.

I have 3 blackbelts.. not that you could tell by looking at me now!

I have a case of chronic overachieverism and Im scared of failure lol.

Ummmmm let's see....I'm also a former gymnast (novice levels only mind you)...also done Ballroom dancing - sat exams for my bronze medals in ballroom and latin and pretty well aced them...I don't dance now, not becuase it's not cool so much as the time involved and the lack of a suitable partner!

Closest I've come to TV fame though is being a Shortland St extra years ago. I was also in the grandparents ad for Air New Zealand but you couldn't see me!! (at least I got paid well anyway! hehehehe)

I also did aikido when I was about 6 and dancing from about 7 - 12 (ballet and jazz). Although I'm not to light on my clod hoppers now!

me? intersting? let me see....
When I was younger I planned on being an actress and went to several Youth Drama Schools in Napier/Havelock North. I even sent in an application to the NZDrama school, but pulled out due to funds....and had lost the passion.
I've been on what was once the fastest and tallest rollercoaster in the world...but now isn't, but I HATE Splash Mountain at Disneyland and will never go on it again.
I, dunno. Nikki what have you heard???
Jake was in a baby catalogue in Japan if that counts.

Also, just found out my friend Ani - her mother, who I've met ONCE has Jake's photo on her fridge as a reminder of what she wants Ani to have - considering Ani is from Taiwan, I doubt she'll have a baby like Jake....actually I'm dying to see the little bubba she'd have! i love asian babies...surprisingly chubby.

I am a chronic procrastinator. I always leave things to the last minute, or later,..and then stress about it!

I love to make lists,..then lists of lists,..then when they get messy,..I copy the list and make a new list! Lol

Another sodoku fan here!!

I did a body building competition a couple of years ago and came second out of about 10 girls in my weight class. Very proud of that

I was pregnant with my first bubba in my seventh form year - had him during the first school holidays and went back to school after the break and managed to get an A bursary over 4 subjects that year. Very proud of that too.

Thats because I was born in Russia, Mum is Polish/Ukrainian, Dad is from Bangladesh and Hubby is an Indian from Fiji. But I learned hindi before I met him. No one in my family speaks Hindi!

My birth name was Islam Roksana Saifulevna....he he ha

Islam was my Surname

ok, I am an Anal control freak who loves organising, I am slightly obsessive compulsive with spelling and grammar, I have been known to correct (and offend) complete strangers, I just can't control it, bad grammar and spelling literally makes me feel dizzy and sick. I have borderline personality disorder, which probably explains this a little.... I am normal, though and control my condition myself, and haven't been on meds for about 4 years now. I had cognitive behaviour therapy, which helped the depression thing so well, that is why I am drug free. I was very worried about getting PND with JJ, but so far so good. Am a little worried I may be getting AND, so am seeing someone about that tomorrow.
On the positive side, I also played violin for years then switched to the drums. And, my dream job, for real, is still ROCKSTAR. I am a kareoke/singstar nerd, and go in kareoke competitions all the time, much to the embarrasment of DP, who thinks I suck, but I always get placed (although I have never won one yet - although no one ever beats me at singstar...)

Ok I can't see the pictures in 3D. My eyes are bunged so that I can't see them at all. It was really hard at school as thats when they were big and the teacher telling us we can't leave until we tell him what the picture is. I sat there telling him I can't see and will never see and he didn't believe me. My mum came in and told him I will never be able to tell him what it is as I have a condition in my eyes that I can't see them. He was so sorry that he made me sit there while all along I had told him I can't see them.

I did Guides thru to Chief Commissioners Guide but dropped out of Rangers before I finished my Queens Guide. Mum was a District Commissioner at one stage too...

I used to swim competitively as a teenager (Mum swam for Akld years ago so it's a family thing), won quite a few medals and trophies mainly for distance freestyle and butterfly. Then I got fat and lazy.

I am a bit of a loon too. I have a freaky bird obsession (which I'm sure I have mentioned before) - a total paranoid of birds flying into the house so I only open the windows a crack and won't leave doors open in case a bird flies in....

Oh and I am a total control freak as well - it's my way or the highway. And I talk non-stop, I think I probably even talk in my sleep. Willie has learnt to tune out.

Thats right Emma! I am totally the same with birds - freak me out so bad. Got those horrible goosebumps just thinking about it THeres only one door in the house I open cos we have had birds fly in the other one. Eww, birds flying into the fire... Don't laugh, but when we lived in the country there was this fantail that would follow me around the house. Like when I was in the kitchen it would try and get in the kitchen windows, then I'd go upstairs and it would be flying around those windows. It was like being under house arrest - no windows or doors open, and I hardly went outside by myself all summer God, I'm a loon too...

I am so bad that I was a bridezilla!! I had to do every thing on my own as I trusted no one to do it right!!!

I like thinks organised and planned, I dont like to do things when ever where ever (hubby is way tooo laid back...) I like to know what I am doing the whole week and dont like to change my plans....that makes me very very mad!

I can never go to bed angry.,...I need to resolve what ever before I do (specially with hubby). I hate lies and hate people who cheat!!

I have a bossy thing going on ...but only with my own family not friends and strangers!!! he he ha ha

I love this thread!
Its so interesting reading about other people's funny quirks, and recognising some of my own in there too!
I also have a phobia of birds, I hate them being anywhere near me and I can't stand seeing dead ones.
I'm even afraid of the ducks and chickens and fish that are served in chinese restaurants with their heads still on, eek!
I can't go to bed angry either Roksana. It really bugs Hubby cos I'll keep him up until any disagreement is resolved, hehe
I have an order that things must be hung in on the washing line and also for the dishwasher. If someone does it wrong I have to re-do it or it drives me bananas.
I accidentaly set fire to the park next to my high school one lunchtime and it burned a huge hole in the middle of the playing field

And I always feel that spiders are looking at me and are planning to jump on me any min....I think its because of that crap movie (what is it called)....

do you mean arachnaphobia? that was a crap spider movie. Once hubby was driving and i was in the passenger seat and a spider was on my window on the inside, i totally freaked and jumped onto hubbys knee so he was trying to drive and pull over and couldnt see the road and i was screaming and when we stopped i jumped out and stood on teh side of the road crying for about 15 minutes, people must have been wondering what the hell was going on.

Hahaha! Oh this thread is great...

Jess, we'll need a singstar competition I feel. I came 2nd in a kareoke competition once!!

I'm a list maker too and I hate being late as well. I'd much rather be early. And I did go through a time where I'd check the walls and bed for spiders, but then we moved house. Once, I accidentally lifted the toilet seat before going, and a spider flipped out from underneath it into the water so I can't go to the toilet without checking underneath the seat first

Oh and something else that is REALLY random... My ticker picture!!! Anyone else like wtf?! Blame Jess, she gave it to me hahaha

I hate lamb (cooked lol, baby lambs are cute). When I was little we used to have lamb chops and I just couldn't chew the meat.. my dad wouldn't let me leave the table until I'd finished my mouthful but I was almost gagging as the meat was too tough or something.. anyway, it scarred me lol

Ah don't worry ladies.. I have a bit of OCD too.

I bite my nails like a maniac. Don't realise I am doing it and they are DISGUSTING! I go to sooo much effort to hide them from people that it's started freaking me out. I'm in the process of trying to stop but with school work stressing me out, I'm not doing too well.

And Annie, you'd hate me, I am ALWAYS late. But if I ever come to Blenners and we make a date, I swear that I'll make sure I'm early.

I'm sure we had a thread like this back a while ago??? Anyway, it's nice to see I'm not the only loopy kid around

Nikki, I would be texting you flat out from half n hour before hand to make sure.... Although I have relaxed a *little* since having fatty boom baas, I do realise now that you can't *always* run on time with kids (but I usually do...)

i am a trivia queen - i can store useless bits of information forever, and bring them out at quiz nites, games of buzz, and just whenever i need

i can read anything superfast and retain almost all the information - can just about repeat it word for word if i needed too.

i am fiercely competitive at games - to the point that dh and i dont play games together anymore, unless it is as a team. i just cant let it go, i have to win, grr!

I love WHAM!!!! I wanted to marry George Michael when I was a kid. My WHAM cd and tape are the most played of all my albums. And I proudly admit this to anyone hehe
My and my old work mates did the lake taupo bike race pre the boys which i loved and planned to do it after I had the boys but they were still in hospital.

I too get really stressed about lateness. I hate people being late (i find it disrepectful to be kept waiting) and i hate being late which I never am unless its something out of my control. Then that drives me absolutely barmy. And the funny thing is my best friend is always late,to the point where i give her an earlier time if we have to meet or go somewhere so I nkow she will be relatively close to being on time.

Thats funny - I'm really relaxed about people being late to meet me but I am very very particular about being on time myself. MY DH is EXTREMELY anal about time keeping and gets very very anxious when people are late or if he is late. It's kinda cute but then can get frustrating when you are sitting in the movies 15 minutes before the bl00dy thing starts

I was a bit of a Bridezilla too Roksana - not mean or bitchy or anything like that. I was just too controlling over everything and found it difficult to let stuff go. I had to have every single detail planned out. I had my cousin act as a bit of a wedding co-ordinator on the day of the wedding and painstakingly put together a folder with diagrams and lists of everything!! Needless to say she appreciated it so it's not always a bad thing!!

This is the most entertaining thread!!  Annie, great to meet another violinist-turned-drummer... woo-hoo!  I had to stop when I got sick and couldn't keep up anymore, which I'm bummed about, because I fully planned to drum right through this pregnancy so that baby could enjoy the fun as well.

I don't freak about spiders... I love skinks, little frogs, wee lizards, even think snakes are so beautiful... but chickens?!?  Eeew - their beady eyes and yukky beaks and nasty icky skin under their feathers - and don't get me started on their revolting legs!  I also desperately hate clowns.  My ears are pointy at the top like a pixie, but I hate fairy stuff (my poor wee girl - hope she doesn't want lots of fairy and clown toys!).  The song 'bright eyes' from Watership Down will always have me in tears in seconds, and I can't watch animal programmes if one of the animals is sick or doing poorly.

ew spiders.. ihate them with a vengance too - like Robyn i have had a spider on the inside of the window incident - I dunno which was worse.. the fact that it had obviously started out on the side of my seat near my shoulder, and Paris saw it and told me.. or the fact that i had to keep calm as calm... that is until it began moving (which darling Paris also told me) and went real quick up its web into the corner of Paris's window .. at which point we realised it was a heck of alot bigger than we originally thought - mike had me and Paris screaming our heads off at that stage in the middle of peak morning traffic. poor guy. and don't even get me started on moving to this house.. am sure you all remember that ghastly spider we caught. Even though the house has been sprayed.. there are only a couple of windows in the house that i will open.. the others are way to close to the lush gardens for my liking.. OMG what if one came in? (am also a ceiling wall and floor checker too Robyn)

I'm a bit weird with the lateness thing. I had mum who was completely over the top about time keeping.. We used to turn up everywhere we went at least half an hour to an hour early.. hence now, I have that "i can't be late" idea in my head, but usually am pretty disorganised and end up at least 10 mins late.

I think my most loopy thing.. is that after i had Paris, i was a bit paranoid and depressed anyway, and when it was at it's worst.. I was scared of one of her soft toys.. dunno if you remember those monkey toys that made jabbering noises.. you squeeze their lips or push their tummies etc.. paris got one when she was 4 months (mum got it) i would go into the room to get her or check her at night and it was sitting on her bed.. and it had these black black scary eyes.. I ended up putting a blanket over it.. lol.. cos each time i went in i got all freaked out by the fact that it looked like it was watching me. I am officially insane i now think. lol

Soooo glad I'm not the only one with a freakish bird phobia - Willie pays me out all the time. And Aimee Fantails are the worst! Freaky little things!

But spiders don't worry me at all, maybe because I grew up in Sydney where we had spiders the size of your hand in our shower all the time.

I don't do mice tho. Creepy crawlies no worries, but if it's furry or feathered it's icky!

Gross!!!  I love little mice & rats, awww they're so cute!  I can kinda understand the monkey toy thing, Janine (y'see, I don't like monkeys - I think it started with the Santa Cave that Farmers store used to have - it was totally creepy, and those yukky monkey-toys playing in a dodgy monkey band - ugh, they were horrid!

it was "IT' that did that to your right Robyn? I had JUST watched that on video when my school went for a trip top Waitomo caves, and then, in the middle of the caves, there was a power cut. It is the most spooky place, espcially with my friends saying "we all flost down here" in my ear

that movie did freak me out. I have this thing (yes another 'thing') about eyes. I cant stand spooky scary eyes. like the movie IT when he looks out of the drain or if eye turn red or light up or whatever, it totally freaks me out, cant look at them. I would rather see blood and guts than freaky eyes.

Ugh, I hate clowns too! Even Ronald Macdonald gives me the creeps.
MIL has this horrible freaky knitted clown that she thinks is lovely. DH and I both hate the thing and hid it behind her couch and in various other places so Ella wouldn't play with it when we were over there!
Blimmin thing has reappeared now that Ben has arrived, I'm thinking more drastic means of making it gone are in order!

Ooh, speaking of spooky dolls, do you poeople from plamy know the doll house? it was near Boys High and had displays of dolls in the lounge, which seemed to be a formal lounge they never used. and they always had the curtains pulled and you could feel their eyes watching you as you walked pasy.

I thought of something random about my non-mummy life.

I am studying poltical islam... "terrorism" essentially (even though i hate using that word). I am going to become an expert one day

(Altho at the moment, all I get is comments from my lecturer telling me I could sell my essay to HAMAS as political propaganda. Oops.)

My partner is scared of cotton wool. I throw it at him and he gets so worked up he hates the feel and everything about it.

I can't drive anywhere without planning the route in my head and if someone asks to go somewhere while we are driving i get all worked up if my route has to change.

I love cutting up dead animals and looking at dead things.
