Anyone got any recommendations?
I am having trouble with my Avent Electric, and also had trouble with it last time round, so thinking of trying something new. I pump once or twice a day, mostly to maintain supply for my fussy feeder. Ideas appreciated! |

Are you wanting another electric? I have a Medela Harmony which is a manual pump and I found it great. Soon after DS was born, I was pumping solidly and feeding only expressed milk and it was reliable, easy to use and didn't give me hand cramp! I've tried a medela harmony, mini electric and hospital grade pumps, and an avent manual, and as far as quantity goes, the avent manual has been the best for me, its got stronger suction , but being a hand pump means I can adjust suction without mucking around with buttons/dials, plus its portable and has the massaging cushion which I think helps get a little more out. On the other hand Medela is a lot gentler which is better for long-term or exclusive pumping as its not quite as harsh on the poor nipples! ------------- Brandon - 05/12/2003

I like my medela swing. Also have an Avent manual, but I find using that just torturous! In terms of electric - it has taken me far too long to realise that I can put batteries in the Swing, so I don't have to be at a power source to express. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

I used a Medela Symphony in the hospital, and have an Avent manual at home, and I prefer the Avent. I like the way that it's easy to adjust the suction, and the masssage cusion seems good. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

 Yep another with a medela swing here! It's awesome, different speeds and strengths for let down and only pump that works for me =) fully recommend it!

Thanks guys - I have heard good things about the Medela Swing, so maybe I will give that a go.
So expensive to buy though! And after having motor problems with my pump I am not so keen on buying second hand. Ugh. |

when I got my swing, baby star had it for 100$ cheaper than Baby factory (or anywhere else!). I had a 50$ voucher for babyfactory and they met baby stars price (so I got my 50$ off too!)so it was 200 something instead of 300 something... -------------

I have a medela manual pump, which fits onto the Lactina electric bit they have at the hospital  . Just bought the mini electric bit in preparation for number two. Haven't used anything else, so can't really make a comparison, but I found it really good & I had to pump A LOT.

I have the Medela mini electric and it has been great, though as caliaandjack mentioned it is noisy. I got mine from a friend who used it 4-5 times per day for her two and I am using it 1-2 times per day. I use the Allegra from there. Its been awesome. And super cheap to buy too. |
