Just wondering how many of you had spotting in your first trimester?

I have on and off since Monday. It hasn't been much, but enough to have me pretty worried. I have been to the Dr and he isn't too concerned but I am going to go back today as I have noticed that my symptoms are dissapearing. I had really full sore breasts but as of yesterday they seem to have pretty much gone back to normal and also I have still been temping and that has gone down a bit as of this morning.

I'm booked in for a scan in 3 weeks but I will be rocking in a corner somewhere by then. I know its not really looking to good for me but just trying to kep my hopes up really

Jennz what I've heard about spotting is to not be concerned unless it's bright red or a lot. You say you're going back to the Doctor... did you mean tomorrow? I hope things go well for you, especially since (I think) you have been TTC for a while. ***hugs***

Jennz, I had it with my first not this one. I was really scared about it as it happened at work for me. I was told by my MW that so long as its not bright red and lots of it, then it is implantion bleeding.

Jen... spotting in early pregnancy is pretty common I think. I had weird bleeding at the start which was possibly implantation bleeding?!?

Anyway, don't worry too much! The symptoms could just be settling down and tomorrow you'll be throwing up like a maniac!

Good luck babe!

Well just been to the Dr and hes told me to prepare for the worst- not so much because of the bleeding but because my symptoms have gone. Am pretty bummed at the moment.

Sending you some sticky vibes and hoping that your lil bean is just burrowing in deeper. I've had 3 bleeds with these two gremlins, one at 5 weeks, one at 9 weeks and one at 25 weeks, and I also found my symptoms came and went a lot in the first few weeks so here's hoping everything is all good for you.

Jennz, hope everything is OK for you.

I too had some spotting at around the 5-8 week (brownish). Then I had bleeding at around week 11 (bright red) and was also told to prepare for the worst - I have only had mild pregnancy symtoms anyways so could not tell if those had changed. The dr ordered me to get a scan the next day and everything turned out to be OK - they could not see why I had had the bleeding and bubs was very much alive and moving around. I have had bleeding once since but have also heard the bubs heartbeat since then so everything must be OK.

Fingers crossed for you - sending you lots of sticky vibes and lots of hugs

I am having a scan at 7 weeks- so in 2 weeks time but the Dr gave me the impression he thought I would miscarry before then. All my symptoms have completely gone and it has now been almost 3 days- I had really strong symptoms and then to go from that to nothing for this long is a really bad sign. I'm still spotting too and its getting redder.

Nah no blood as such- just a tint of colour in my discharge. I have been having a bit of nausea but that could just be stress. Its like the worst rollercoaster in the world... ever! It is kind of text book symptoms for a "missed miscarriage".

Males huh? Nice that he is trying tho. I'll let him get away with it.

And so are you having any cramps etc as well???

Posted By: Jennz
Date Posted: 29 September 2006 at 10:42pm
No, no cramps. But this is the definition of a missed miscarriage -

"Missed miscarriage – when the pregnancy stopped growing some time ago, but there was no bleeding at this time. This type of miscarriage usually causes a slight, dark-brown blood loss and the sudden end of normal pregnancy symptoms. It is sometimes called a blighted ovum."

And that seems to be pretty much exactly what I have been going through. Its just a waiting game really- I either have to wait for lots of blood and/or cramping or for 7 weeks when I can have my scan. If the scan shows its not viable I either have to keep waiting for it to miscarry naturally or have a d&c oooooor (and this is the fingers crossed part) it may show a little heartbeat in which case everything is fine. But yeah, the Dr has said to prepare myself for the worst- he doesn't hold out much hope for it being ok as my symptoms are so text book.

I guess they have to be pessimistic as if they get your hopes up then they are the ones you blame if you do miscarry.

I reserve the right to be optimistic! I am sooooooooo hoping for the little heartbeat.

I am also reserving the right, for you, to tell me to rack off.

xoxo

Thanks guys I sway from being really optimistic to really down, all within about 10 minute periods. I convince myself that it might be ok only to get really upset when I realise that it probably won't be. Thanks for letting me moan. Will keep you all updated.

Go the Gilmore Girls lol!

Doctors are always pessimistic, mine told me when I was preg with Maya that if I was going to miscarry there was nothing they could do about it. Sooooo not what I needed to hear!

Bear in mind too that you're awfully early for a missed m/c. The pregnancy isn't even fully implanted yet. We had a missed m/c caused by a blighted ovum, the "baby" had stopped growing at 5w6d but the m/c didn't start until 7 weeks.

So it's entirely possible that what you're having is implantation bleeding, and that bubs is growing fine. Another way your doc could check is to do a hCG level which will tell him whether your levels are high enough to sustain a pregnancy. If they are that's an awesome sign.

Thnking of you and hopin the next couple of weeks go pst quickly for you so you can see your lil bean.

Jennz I had the same thing when I got home from work on Thursday night, I went straight into panic mode and burst into tears. I rang my Midwife she said it didn't sound too hopeful (burst into tears again)but she got me in for a scan yesterday and everything was fine. Can't they get you in for a scan any earlier.

Thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Weeeeell- I started cramping last night and was pretty convinced things were starting to happen. It was pretty sore so I took a Panadol and went to bed and it seemed to ease off a bit. I woke up this morning expecting to have started bleeding but not only had my temp gone up (Im still charting and thought it would go down as thats what happens when you MC) but there isn't the slightest hint of blood- completely clear even when I wipe.

Unfortunatly they won't do a scan before 7 weeks as they can't guarantee to see the heartbeat before then so I have to wait I am going the mention the Hcg blood test to the Dr though and hopefully get that done next week- at least that would give me some answers.

I thought my spotting had stopped as I had none Saturday and Sunday, but it started again today. Not a lot though and no cramps. Just keep thinking I had the scan on Friday and the baby is fine, as long as it doesn't get any worse there is no need to worry. They couldn't see any reason on the scan for any bleeding. Does anyone know what the reasons could be?

Kazza, sometimes it is caused by implatation. I had it on and off with my first pregnancy.

Jen I'm wondering if the bleeding has stopped? Hope you get a scan soon anyway so you can get off the emotional rollercoaster.

Kazza if it is implantation bleeding, it's nothing to worry about. Maybe the best thing would be to call your midwife for (hopefully) certainty.

Well the bleeding has completely stopped- haven't had any sign of it since Friday. My temp is still up and I think I am getting symptoms (I just hope it isn't wishful thinking!). I am certainly feeling heaps better and more positive Hopefully the Dr will call this morning so I can chat with him and see what he thinks.

I don't know if this will work but this is my chart-
http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1625db - Chart

Kazza- the Dr said that bleeding is quite common and not to be worried unless theres lots of red or cramping. Half the time they can't explain it- he has no idea why I was spotting either, its so hard not knowing ay? I bled with Charlotte and the scan showed it was a subchronic haemmorage (sp?) which was outside the womb so didn't effect her in any way.

Hi guys, lurker here :P Just a note to say - my mum bled quite a bit when pg with me, she was complaining to a friend at work (maternity ward) that she was gutted it was taking to long to get pregnant, and that she was having such weird, light irregular 'periods'. Friend suggested do a test - and there I was!

Hope this helps, and look forward to talking to you some more.

Jennz - I reckon it sounds pretty promising!

I miscarried before getting preggy this time round, didn't take the D&C option and although I had bleeding and cramping, once it had started it didn't stop til it was over. I am not making much sense but what I am trying to say is this, what you seem to be experiencing is nothing like what happened to me when I miscarried?

Blah... am struggling to form a sentence today... Good luck!

They were when i was six weeks on, and wen't for a scan and everything was fine, had another blood loss the day after the scan, tried not to let it worry me, and wen't on to have a fine pregnancy. Well I started spotting again last night My temp had dropped a couple of decimals that morning but I thought it was just because I went to bed late- I don't know if they are related but last time I spotted it went down that much too. It was up again by .1 this morning but still down from my norm I have had lately. The spotting is still there this morning and I am feeling the odd niggle in my tum but I am hoping if I take it easy it will calm back down.

I rang the scan people to chase up about my appointment- I am now booked in for next Thursday so hopefully that will give us some answers!

Thanks guys- thought I better update Sunday I was in A&E having what I thought was a miscarriage. Had started bleeding really heavily and the on-call Dr said to go in. By the time it came to give my urine sample I noticed that the bleeding had completely stopped, they did an internal and things were as they should be but it meant I finally got to have my Hcg levels done- the follow up test is tonight. Couldn't get a scan any earlier so its still Thursday.

Yesterday the bleeding had stopped and my symptoms were very very strong (really sick and bbs are giant!) so it was looking positive again but this morning lo and behold... more blood. So yeah, I'm really over it now- I just want to know what is going on, either way I just really want some answers, its doing my head in

Hopefully we get the results from the bloods tomorrow but it night not be until Thursday. Only 2 more sleeps...

Well, just went for my scan. The sods who did my blood test still haven't got back to me so I was so petrified in the waiting room. I was completely expecting the news to be bad and was shaking with nerves. When the pic came on the screen she talked us through it- she warned that we may not be able to see a heartbeat at this stage yet anyway but then this little flicking bit came up and she said that was the heart I just burst into tears! I could hardly believe it.
Unfortunatly she couldnt find an explanation for the bleeding so I have to go back to the Dr and see where we go from here but she said even so there is still a 90% chance everything will go ok now. Certainly has me feeling alot better about things than I was this morning!

Thanks so much for all your support! Heres hoping its all smooth sailing from here

I remember once I took one around and she wouldn't take it either. Stubborn old thing! Do it Kelly- you haven't just got yourself to think of here, you have to think about us and how impatient we are too
