I ordered some items of Maternity Direct http://www.maternitydirect.co.nz on Tuesday and about 30 seconds after placing my order I realised that I needed to change the order.
Do you think I can a hold of them! I have called, emailed, left messages, and for two days - NOTHING.
They have charged my CC for the order, but I have not received an email confirmation of the order.
What do I do! I am so frustrated.
When you call them they say their customers are important to them. Obviously not, because they dont answer emails, they dont return calls and they take your money without confirming your order.
OVER IT!

I've always found them quite good, are you not getting anyone on the phone at all?
Last time something went wrong with my order (they didn't have a size I wanted) they rang me and even changed sizes on other items after consultation.
However because it is a WAHM type business if the lady running it is sick or something else has come up unfortunately this is what happens :(

it is so frustrating. if it is a WHAM business I am beginning to think they are on holiday. But they should not be taking orders if they are, and they should definitely not be charging CC's automatically.
I will give them until 3pm tomorrow to contact me...after that I am having the charge on my card reversed. It will be almost four days since I placed the order with no contact.
Still not good enough, even if it is a WHAM business.

I ordered a nightie from them last week - it turned up two days later no worries :) I guess everyone has different experiences, and bad customer service is never a good thing, but I had no problems with them.

I am put off ordering from them as I got a maternity tankini, selected the colour/size and paid, then to be told it was out of stock. I got another one but was annoyed their website didn't tell me before I ordered. Also, they were advertising 'Design your own T-Shirt', I couldn't select a size so contacted them to do it over the phone, only to be told they are out of stock. Why not update their website then?
It's a shame to hear you (and others) have had a bad experience too as they have some really nice products.
Hope they get back to you

They called me at 8pm last thursday...I didn't hear my phone so they left a message telling me that they would call back Friday.
They didn't call back.
So now they have had my money for more than a week, I have left daily messages with them and nothing.
I am calling my bank later to have my CC reversed.

Update for those of you who are interested.
I received my order on Monday, and a phone call on Tuesday.
Apparently I entered my email address wrong on the order form online which is why I did not receive an invoice. They also emailed me using that email address to answer my enquiry.
The lady was very rude on the phone and implied that I was unreasonable for wanting to be called and it was my fault that the email address was wrong.
However:
- I emailed them from my correct address 2 minutes after placing the order. How hard was it to reply to that address?
- and after 3 phone messages saying that I had not heard from them, do you think they might have gone back and checked the email address they were using?
She still wasn't going to send me an invoice. Didnt really get the concept of proof of purchase!

Just to let everyone know...dont use Maternity Direct!
After the saga of just getting my order, they sent me the wrong sized maternity bra and the tops didn't fit.
I returned them and they offered to send me a different style of top at a reduced price. I agreed but a week later - nothing.
Then they email me asking me if I want the different top. I ALREADY SAID YES! At that point I told them no, because they suck (I used nicer words, just) and that they just need to refund me.
Another week goes by and nothing! I email them, they email me saying the refund has just been processed.
It too 3 WEEKS! From when I returned the tops to when I got the refund.
So it took 3 emails over 3 weeks to get a refund.
It really is not worth it.

I ordered some bras from them last year and they charged my card but nothing for a few days so I emailed them asking if it had been sent, or what was happening and she replied that there had been an error with my order and that they didn't have the size I wanted 10B but I could take an 8C which was the same size as a 10B apparently.
I said ok as I took her word for it but it wasn't the same size at all imo. I had tried the 10B on in another store but as the Maternity Direct ones were on special I got those instead. Bit disappointing but it's not a huge difference in size.
Was meant to arrive in time for my birthday (special treat from DP) so we ordered around end of July and was maybe mid August when it arrived. (ETA: About 5 days late)

I had ok service from them when I ordered once (maybe 20 months ago, so a long time ago), but the quality of their feeding singlets isn't the best. I just got warehouse H+H ones for this baby and they are quite similar, but prefer warehouse ones, and they're cheaper

I wish I had seen this before ordering 3x hotmilk bras and some undies...
I have also had crap service. I ordered the buy three bras and they will be $19.95 from the sale items. Well it has been 4 days now - I have emailed every day and called to find out when the refund will come through as I was charged full price at the check out. I also need to let work know when to expect a package - not one reply! They were quick enough to email me asking if they could help when I had items in the cart but didn't complete the purchase though!!!!

I also had this problem just recently but DID eventually get my order..took about 10 days and DID get my refund even though apparently I bought sale items over $20 that were not included.
Start phoning...you wont get them but after I left 3 messages they did ring back...to say I should have received it...i hadnt...and then nothing since then..I did receive it the next day.
It IS slack customer service.

I've also had a problem with them, I ordered a size too small on the tankini (wishful thinking probably) so I emailed them asking if I could exchange - they said yes, just send them back with $5 to cover postage and a note.. so I did.. I didnt get the new one until 4 weeks later. As I was worried about them (thought maybe I'd sent it to the wrong address or something) I called them and left messages 6 times to confirm whether or not they had them..I emailed them (nearly every day in the last 2 weeks of waiting), They never returned my calls or emails but the item did turn up on my door step eventually. Not a good experience!!!!!!!!

Ive ordered some hot milk bras off them 8 days ago, still nothing. I also ordered a few times 3 years ago and had terrible customer service. How can you be in business and not care how long it takes for customers to receive their products? I thought they would of improved after 3 years and still being in business, how are they still in business??? Definitely the worst service I have received from a nz online retailer

Got a package from the states that I ordered the same day as my Maternity Direct stuff.... Not holding out any hope of a good trade at this stage. Really upsetting as I really needed those bras and was going to buy from the shop but go sucked in to the prices.... Kicking myself now!!! 6 Months on the above post....... What a waste of money!

I have ordered from them twice via trademe 1st time was tankini that the listed as having clips for feeding i did buy now and paid straight away only to be told they made a mistake and they didnt have clips on them but i got them anyway coz they were still maternity togs which i needed. Last month i ordered a feeding top and after 2wks of nothing and no email i sent them an email asking where my order was and got oh sorry i completely missed your order and we are now out of that size in that colour. They offered a tank top in its place and i asked for a photo 3days later nothing so i email again asking for them to reply to my last email 2days later a picture of a feeding singlet and i said thats fine ill take the singlet and the size. That was 5days ago now and no reply. shocking service

I placed an order with Maternity Direct 25 Sept, but didn't receive it till 6 October - sometimes there is a problem with supply, and I consider myself pretty patient, but when it arrived in a $4 parcel post bag (after being charged $6.50) and one item had been removed from it's box packaging so it could be squished into the bag, I queried it. I received several very rude emails from them, all about business logistics, and getting items at a good price so I shouldn't be worried about $2.50!! Needless to say I won't be purchasing anything from them regardless of how heavily discounted they think their prices are (seeing I had already bought one of the items from Belly Beyond for less but they had run out of stock) - pays to read forums first huh?

For anyone considering buying something from Maternity Direct..think twice. Despite reading negative reviews I decided to buy a maternity bra from them, thinking it would be more convenient to buy online than from a physical store. Two weeks after ordering the bra (despite their website stating they aim to deliver in 5 days or would send customers an email if it was going to be longer) it showed up, but in the wrong colour. Despite numerous phone messages left and emails sent, I did not hear anything back from them, so eventually decided to send the bra back. They did refund my credit card but deducted their shipping charge. This annoyed me because I was left out of pocket not only for the original shipping charge but the cost of shipping the item back to them, when it was their error in the beginning. Another gripe is that they charged me $6.50 for shipping, then sent the item in a $4 prepaid NZ post bag.
I ended up buying from another site, who sent the correct item promptly.
Beware. Wish I had read this forum first, it seems like despite their terrible service they have managed to stay in business. Not happy

That's actually dreadful! Ok, everything abou tthem seems to be, but that's not poor customer service, that's blatently ripping you off. Have you complained to whoever it is you complain to about these things? Consumer something-or-other people?
Speaking of which, is Fair Go still in business? I reckon they'd have a ball here...

I asked consumer because i am a member snd they had been helpful in the past, and they suggested just keeping the bra. Didn't feel right to me so I just posted it back and hoped for the best they would refund me.
Possibly disputes tribunal would be the place to go, but I kind of feel like I have probably lost about $15 and not worth the time and negative energy to pursue.

I haven't had a look at Maternity Direct, and from the looks of it I probably shouldn't? But the whole shipping thing and cost, that could come down to handling costs. You know how on all of the infomercials they go "+ $xx S&H" That's shipping and handling, you have to pay the person to pack, as well as for the product, and they often don't add the "handling" into the product price.

I ordered from them on 2 separate occasions in November last year and returned both orders as they didn't fit (not their fault obviously) but I have been waiting 3 months now for a refund and nothing! I have emailed them 6 times and had no response at all and now no one ever answers their phone! I presume they are still in business as their website seems to be up and running still and I still get their monthly newsletter (very infuriating since they wont reply to my emails!). Considered reversing the charges on my credit card but its a lenghy process and I don't have all the documentation from when I posted the items - I'm rubbish at keeping track of my reciepts etc but have learnt my lesson this time! Surely this is not legal!

DON'T PURCHASE FROM MATERNITY DIRECT!!!
My experience with this business has been horrible - I spent $80 with them on 3 items only to receive 2 that were completely wrong and one of which quality is absolute crap (is falling apart after a few washes).
I sent the items back in Nov-12 and despite numerous phone calls and emails have had no remedy.
I feel really annoyed and sorry that this person is still operating what is clearly an unethical business and is continuing to rip so many poor people off!!
What can we do to warn others??

I wish I had seen these posts before I purchased products from Maternity direct... Paid for two items over a month ago, after two weeks I sent an e-mail asking for a tracking number and was told my items had just arrived and would be sent to me tomorrow. After another week I e-mailed again, no reply. I sent a third e-mail four days after that and asking for a refund, no reply. My partner then sent 6 further e-mails, initially being told the items were already sent and then finally that they were put in the post the day before. Three days later the package turned up. Really unhappy with the quality of the product and disgusted in the service. Maternity clothes are expensive and I wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time or money with this outfit.

Oh my god this woman is the worst person to deal with EVER! Purchased 3 bras on 28th august, then saw all the bad feedback. Got an email about 3-5days later to tell me one of the bras was sold out and one will be 2 weeks to order in. well after emailing trying to see if she has anything else in my size to replace the sold out one (which was getting no where) 2 weeks had past. I agreed to a smaller size (ff instead of g) thinking that would be ok because she advised me that the third bra would be 1-2 weeks to get in????? The next day I got the first bra that took 2 weeks and as soon as I pulled it out I could see the cups were tiny! Was like a d tops. emailed straight away not to bother with the others and refund.(I would of sent this one bsck too but I had tried it on) no reply to emails. the second ff bra turned up and I took it straight from letterbox to post shop and sent it back with tracking do I know she's got it back. She got it last week and I've sent 2 enails asking for my refund and given some customer service advise. Still no replies.

Had horrible customer service from Maternity Direct. Will never use them ever and i wud not recommend them to anyone.
I ordered for 2 nursing bra and it took almost a month to finally reach me. and when i got it my order was incomplete. There was only one bra. I have been emailing them ever since to check about the other bra and its been over 2 weeks. they have not replied to my mails and dont even acknowledge receiving my email or apologising. I want my money refunded and they are not even replying to that. I think i have lost my money for the second bra.
Please do not ever use them. Very Very UPSET!

Ordered Bra & knickers from maternity direct website on 29th Nov. Credit card charged straight away and sent a very basic 'purchase receipt' with no contact details. No sign of goods over 3 weeks later. Have tried phoning but never get any answer & there is no answerphone to leave a message. Finally got an e-mail response from her on Fri 20th Dec after sending a threatening email. apparently 'bra has been dispatched' but knickers are out of stock. Not hopeful of getting goods. You can get credit card charge reversed thru your bank. I have also laid a complaint thru http://www.theorb.org.nz/ website claims to ship goods within 5 days. I too purchased from this company...unfortunately :(
it seems to be a pattern of trade that keryn Obrien has. I have registered a complaint as suggested and email her regularly to request my money back. I have only receive the one email back to say the goods are on back order or do I want a refund...with nothing either way.
as this is a registered company both her residential and business addresses are freely available so I can write to her directly, but I would rather be able to stop her from trading fraudulently. what other avenues of complaint are there to take? is there a register of bad businesses?
it makes me so mad, I have now had my baby in the time that I have been dealing with her and do not have the reusable nappies that I have paid for!!!

I placed an order on the 8th of December, they charged my credit card on the 9th of December ($66). I have never received the goods and I can't get hold of them. I have e-mailed them numerous times asking them to supply the product or refund my credit card. Every time I try to call them they don't answer. It's now been over a month since I placed my order. report this business and spread the word on baby forums about this business. also you can contact your bank to dispute the transaction due to the goods not being received. i have initiated this dispute and also reported the business per the previous post. If there are any kiwi's that know more about how to report this type of fraudulent activity i would certainly be happy to hear from them about what we might be able to do to stop it happening again.

I saw a facebook post on Breastmates facebook and so many people wrote about their bad experience with Maternity Direct, it's not good at all!

I reported Maternity Direct to Consumer Affairs and Scamwatch (they actually gave me the link to this site). Apparently they are aware of issues with this company but they don't have investigative or enforcement powers to deal with them. The best they can do is warn others. I have also written to Fair Go. I would encourage others to write to Fair Go, if they run a story it would be a good way to enlighten other people about these rip off artists.
Scamwatch advised me that you can go through the disputes tribunal, however, you need a physical address for the seller to do this (me thinks this is why maternity direct only list a P.O. Box?!), and there are fees involved.
I will be contacting my bank to try to have the charges reversed.

you can get the physical address from the list of registered companies in NZ. They are a registered company and submit annual reports. there are two addresses, one appears to be the owners residential address and the other appears to be the business. Google maps has photos of each of these.
I have just received the goods that i ordered and they didn't even bother to put anything anywhere that shows they came from maternity direct. there was no tracking number, no invoice, no delivery docket, no labels (except those in chinese). In fact it looked so dodgy that Aust Post opened the package up and examined it thoroughly!!!
As if that is not enough the bamboo washable nappies are 100% polyester according to the label! Not an ecofriendly thread in site!
I did report her to the nz govt sites per the prev messages. I hope that there is some way to stop this fraudulent activity from taking place. Maybe she will even reply to this email to explain why she lied about the bamboo nappies?!? bwahahaha

I wish I had found all these posts three weeks ago! I ordered from maternity direct when pregnant with my first child three years ago and the service was ok (not brilliant, but ok) , so I didn't really think twice about ordering from them this time. But lo and behold, I am experiencing abysmal customer service - well, non existent really. I ordered three weeks ago, payment was taken, a brief confirmation of order emailed to me...then nothing. I have called their phone number everyday for the last week, but there's no answer and no facility to leave a message. And I have emailed three times. No reply. Unfortunately my bank is unable to provide a refund, so my next course of action is to request a refund or the goods within 3 days, otherwise I will report the company to consumer affairs, fair go and scam watch, as per other posters. It is disgusting that they have been allowed to continue to trade after the raft of bad experiences over the past few years.

WARNING!!! Don't order from this website. They charged my credit card 2 months ago and I never received my goods. Have been emailing them and at first I got a reply telling me about delays/goods out of stock/anticipated shipping dates but then never heard back again and still no goods after 2 months. Have sent them numerous friendly emails asking politely for an update on the order status, never threatened them or got upset, yet no reply whatsoever. Pretty disheartening and the last thing a pregnant women needs to deal with. Phone number doesn't work. either. BEWARE!!!

TERRIBLE SERVICE! Something needs to be done. Is this company actually supplying product or just ripping all of us mums to be off. There must be some government organisation who deals with this type of scam. I ordered from maternity direct on the 19th February - my purchases valued at $106.00. They debited my account on the 20th February, but I haven't received anything. I tried calling and emailing with no luck. Our new baby is due in a few weeks and I really wanted to have my nursing garments sorted by then! Four pages of complaints - wish I had of done my research first. :(

Sorry I just read back through the comments again - sounds lik if everyone bombed the agencies and Fair Go then something might be able to be done? Because the general trend seems to be that women order - dont receive their goods THEN stumble across this info - she needs to be stopped!

Success!
My wife sent this..
To whom it may concern,
I am writing this email to inform you that under the Consumers Guarantees Act for Goods I will now be seeking legal advice as to how we proceed with the lack of communication and the fact that this order has never been received or refunded. Please see below the conditions of the act.
Goods must arrive in acceptable condition and on time
From 17 June 2014, you must make sure any goods you send or deliver yourself to a consumer arrive in acceptable condition and on time, or within the agreed period. If no time is agreed, you must make sure that delivery occurs within a reasonable time. What is reasonable will depend on the circumstances such as the location of the seller and buyer, the type of goods involved and whether the goods have to be ordered in from elsewhere.
Example: A reasonable consumer would expect a TV they have bought from a local store to arrive within a few days, but if they have ordered a kitchen from a stores catalogue they might expect to wait a few weeks.
Guarantees apply from time consumers receive goods
From 17 June 2014, changes to the definition of 'time of supply’ in the Consumer Guarantees Act mean guarantees under the Act apply from the time consumers receive goods.
These changes increase your obligations under the Act. From 17 June 2014, if you arrange delivery and the goods arrive damaged, you will be responsible for compensating the consumer even if the damage was caused by the courier. You will need to:
be careful about how you prepare goods for delivery and who you contract to deliver your goods have adequate insurance and negotiate an appropriate carriage contract with the carriage company make sure your customers know they need to notify you of any faults within a reasonable time
Your websites states that good will be received within 10 working days after payment. The order and payment were placed on the 4th April 2014. It is now the 4th May and I have had no goods, no correspondence and no refund. Please note you have 5 working days to process a full refund of $*** into the account0 before I seek legal action in relation to the above Consumers Guarantee Act.
with the Subject heading LEGAL ACTION. and we got a reply
Hi
I am not sure if you received our email but sorry we had needed to order your items in but if you would prefer the refund that is no problem at all sometimes our emails go to your junk folder so I am not sure if this has happened to you but am very sorry if it has
If you would like to wait that is fine if you would prefer the refund we can do that immediately we will wait for your confirmation Kind Regards Keryn maternitydirect
Now this arrived at 4am. so I'm not sure they are actually based in New Zealand? (Although their address in in Tauranga
My wife replied and demanded a refund and they processed it immediately. If arrived this morning!
The name was form Shaun O'Brian, so have they switched ownership???

ahhhh!! It looks like this has been going on for years!
I bought from them over a month ago - emailed, emailed, emailed, phoned, phoned, phoned, then emailed a little more asking where my order was. I FINALLY got ONE reply to say that what I had purchased was no longer in stock and would I like it in another color...I said no, I had ordered another elsewhere and that I wanted a refund. Well...it has been TEN DAYS since that email - I have sent another 5...do you think I have received my goods? Nope. Refund? Nope. It is APPALLING!! I googled them again today to get their phone number...and guess what... ALL the links to their website no longer work, and there is just a note that says their site has been suspended!!!! Sounds to me like they've gone into receivership or something! Good riddance too.
These people are absolutely hideous and are definitely milking the system and purposely ripping off people! If they manage to get back up on their feet - do NOT buy from them!!! You WILL be ripped off!
Sooooo not happy that this ugly company is ripping off women who are likely no longer working! Money is precious when you don't have a lot of it! So mad!!

Greer like many wished I had read this BEFORE ordering. Ordered at beginning of May. Got an acknowledgement e-mail. Then nothing for ages. Then an email saying stuff was on back order and did I mind? Well I didn't have a choice did I! Then they emailed to say some items not available now, let down by suppliers, lots of angry customers and had decided to wind up their business (the website has gone btw and I wonder if they were on FairGo?). Still they were sending my parcel and did I want some stick clearance items to account for the stuff they didn't supply. I chose refund but haven't got it yet. Parcel arrived today finally. The leggings and pajamas are Japanese or Chinese imports and the sizes don't fit (the pajamas wouldn't have fit before I got pregnant and I am an average size 12!) - they simply aren't cut for a European size/shape. The leggings are made from a horrible knitted material - not as advertised. Have emailed the women but judging from above comments I don't expect to hear from them. Grrrrr. Can someone reply and let me know if they were covered on FairGo. Thanks Suzanne
