Lots of people ask me what exercise I do and to be honest, I don't really do any. BUT... I follow after 2 under 3 all day (SAHM) and we do sometimes go on walks, usually to the park which is a shorter walk but more effort!
Is the big exercise thing as important as it's made out to be? What exercise do you mums of preschoolers do, if any?

sometimes we walk to the shops...or around the mall or the warehouse.
and tues i walked up a hill pushing the pram and carrying a crying 15kg.
i lift 10kg in and out of his hight chair, car seat and cot several times a day.
i've been known to drag the 15kg son thru the mall on occasion.
i bend down and pick up toys so many times a day i would hate to count it, as well as the pots and plastic ware from the kitchen cupboards.
but no real exercise here either.

I think all that is very valid.
I walk from my car park past creche to uni and then back again each day I am there.
I lift a 14kg(ish??) baby all the time... must say tho... left arm is becoming a little more bulky than the right, must switch to carrying her on my right hip.
Uhmmm... running after an escaping child at the beach every now and again. (Actually that isn't just at the beach... outside my house, in shops, at playgrounds... the list goes on.)

That makes me feel a lot better! So what do you say to people when they ask if you're doing any (official) exercise?

Give them a big lecture about how having children to run around after is enough exercise
I was going weekly to an exercise class and putting Ella in creche.. have been slack as she hasn't been too happy @ creche but i'm trying to get on top of it.. must go back soon, I always feel good after my class.
We try to go for walks in the evenings, all three of us.. sometimes walk over the hill from town and in the summer we go for regular walks around the bays etc.. needless to say we are alot fitter in the summer than the winter

Yeah, I do what Kat does. And offer to lend them a child and see how they go with a day in the life of a mother to a toddler!

lol Now that i have to work i walk either to/from work each day.. so that's my 30 mins a day or whatever.. cos it takes that long, up a hil, down a hilll, not to mention up the flights of stairs etc at the hospital too. Makes me feel good, hoepfulkly will get that little bit of flab on thighs off.
