Good old Fatty boom baas has always loved his bath time, BUT in the last week or so, has started screaming whenever we wash his hair. I am very careful not to get water or soap in his eyes or ears, I even sometimes just wet his facecloth to get his hair wet, dosen't matter what I try, we scream, try to climb out of the bath, clings onto me "mama, up, mama, up" really beside himself. now if he wasn't still blinking well crawling, i would hold off on the baths for a few nights and top and tail, but "outside" is our new fave place, in daddies garden, and, I could leave his hair wash if he didn't insist on smearing weetbix through it in the mornings and potato or whatever through it at night.... Any other bright ideas? (oh yeah, tried goggles, he liked them, but didn't get the idea of leaving them on...)
Edited to add - He's never really liked the hair washing thing, and we only hd to do it once or twice a week, but since he likes to "help" feed himself with his own spoon.... ------------- The Honest Un PC Parent of 2, usually stuck in the naughty corner! :P |

Ella still can't stand getting her hair washed despite the fact that we wet it at every bath and wash it with shampoo twice a week!
What we find helps (i.e. she'll grudgingly do it without screaming) is doing ours at the same time. Could you jump in with him and do yours to so he can see how not scary and grown up it is? ------------- Mel, Mummy to E: 6, B: 4 and:

What about getting him to have showers and leave hair washing for a week or so and when he gets used to the water pressure give hair washing another go. Or get in with him and show him that getting his hair wet is fun show him how you wash your hair and get him to help then do the "Ok, your turn!". Or get some of those bath soaps that have red and blue colours in them and get him to spike up his hair or show him how it makes your hair look pretty then do it for him.
Trying different soaps like the soap crayons that you write on the side of the bath with? What about a fun washer thingee, get it to creep up and tickle his hair and ears and neck. We had this with Andrew and it ended up being that the smallest amount of water (just a drip would be enough) that got in his ear caused a huge ear infection. He now has grommets in, but still gets the infections - we are battling with the ear drops again now. We have ear plugs for his ears now and when we wash his hair I do it in the shower. Andrew seems to like his shower much more than the bath so we are having showers at night and he is enjoying them so much more. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |
