We are in the process of weaning our lil girl from the breast to the bottle. She's 4.5 months old, and has milk protein intolerance. So, we're using Karicare Soy All Ages formula. Initially, she was fussy abt the bottle, but now she's doing well!
She has a total of 5 feeds in a 24-hr period. She is breastfed twice - morning (8 AM) and night (11 PM) feeds. She's sleeping through the night - abt 8-9 hrs. At the moment, she's drinking 3 bottles each of abt 120-160 mls per feed on a 4-hourly basis during the day.
When I wean her completely onto the bottle (at 6 months), how many feeds and how much do I give her in 24-hrs? Should it be 4-hourly or 3-hourly?

Does the container say??? Suppose it doesn't if you're asking here
Usually there is a calorie quantity needed over a 24 hour period.
Just looked at a heinz container I have here for my Carechild, I'd just ring the consumer line, you might be able to get a free tin as well

The container says abt 200mls per feed and 4-5 feeds, but she's a small baby and has never crossed 130-160 mls..so wanted to know what other Moms were/are doing..

When my boy was 6 months old, he was having about 5 feeds a day. From memory at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and a dream feed at 10pm. If you don't want to do a dream feed you might try to squash the feeds up, or 4 feeds a day might be enough.
DS1 was a tiny wee thing and never drank more than 800ml per day, even though the tin said he should be having 1200ml. Sometimes I think the formula companies just want to sell more formula, because they seem to base their recommendations at the top end of the scale.

Oh, and you might find that she's still drinking more at the breast, so her amounts might improve once she is fully weaned.

Thanks a lot for ur replies!
kiwilaurie - My schedule is just like yours! Except that DD's dreamfeed is usually at 11 PM, 4 hrs after her 7 PM feed. Is it OK to dreamfeed after 3 hrs?..would love to sleep early! :D How long do you sit DS after feeds or for burping? I keep DD upright for abt 15-20 mins, to make sure. She spills a bit but not much.
DD's drinking better from the bottle now..She has around 140mls-200 mls per feed on average. She's on 4 bottles a day and 1 morning breastfeed now.
Yes, I definitely think the formula companies advocate the max quantity on their tins!!
