I know there is a recipe on here for the 5min mug cake but this is WAY better.

Mug Brownie.

Ingredients:
4 Tablespoons Flour
4 Tablespoons Sugar
2 Tablespoons Cocoa powder (Note: don't use cocoa mix or quik, it shouldn't have any sugar)
2 Tablepsoons Vegetable Oil (Don't use one with a strong flavor, eg olive, sesame, etc)
2 Tablespoons Water
Dash of salt
Mug
Microwave

Add the sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt to the mug and mix. Then add the oil and water and mix the dry and wet ingredients together. Be sure to be thorough, there's a tendency for clumps of the dry ingredients to form

Microwave on high for roughly a minute. You may have to microwave it longer or shorter, depending on your microwave, but the brownie should still be wet in the center when done.

Ooh it looks lower in calories too, bonus! We under cook the 5min mug cake slightly so it's more like self-saucing pudding

Dear god this concept has totally escaped my notice but what a great idea. I don't like baking cos then you have to eat the whole lot, but a mugs worth is perfect. It's on my list for tomorrow.

DH cooked it last night too and all the oil bubbled to the top, so he tipped the oil out. Then later found out that it was too dry

We have 800w and DH cooked it for over 2 minutes. I think it would have been good if he had of let the oil soak back in and maybe cooked it slightly less.

mine is 1400w, did it for 1 min and it turned out purfect. It looks a bit runny when you get it out but it kinda sets a bit as it cools. and it should be all chewey like brownies and not like a cake.

Yum!

I can't do the normal mug cake, I've heard it described as tasting like "chocolate wetsuit", which I totally agree with!!

Ahaha, actually I agree with this too, which is one of the reasons we undercook it, then it's really yum!

I have done this twice in the past 24 hrs ! With the help of two young kids.
Mine turned out pretty much the same as it was before it was cooked but hot. Maybe I did not cook it long enough or did I? I don't know but it was yummo. I cant wait to try with some fresh cream while its still hot! Nice winter dessert.

I made one (possibly added too much salt) but it was good... so quick and easy. And yummy with milk drizzled over it!

i made it again last night and halved the ingredients (trying to tell myself that half a one was a lot better for me) 40seconds and it was perfect!

I made it in full, cooked for one min (have a 1200w microwave), mixed it then redid it for another 20s, scraped it out into a bowl, let it sit for 5 mins then added cream... bliss in a bowl! Was a bit lumpy from being mixed, but I'd rather lumpy than tough on outside and raw in the middle

just on a wee side note, i was watching rachel ray the other day and she was doing brownie mix in the waffle maker i had never thought about doing it that way makes it sooo quick 4 min instead of 30+

I wish I had a waffle maker. It was either that or the phil and teds metoo high chair thing from flybuys, didn't have enough points for both, so I got the highchair cos I thought it would get more use.

With kids my waffle maker is making a huge come back :)

My tip for both this & especially the mug cake is to use Pams Cocoa, Cadbury's doesn't give the same chocolatey flavour, also with the cake add in bits of Peppermint Ghana chocolate...DEVINE

AnCs mum, I've discovered the same thing! Although the cheap brands of flour dont seem to work as well, pams cocoa is great!

I have a recipe for mug cake that works perfectly

4tbspn plain flour
2tbspn sugar
2tbspn cocoa

mix together in mug

add 1 egg, break the yolk, but dont mix yet

3tbspn milk
3tbspn oil
1/2 tspn vanilla essence

mix all together and microwave on high for 1 min 45s (put a plate underneath JIC mug isnt quite big enough!)

My microwave is a 1200 watt and this comes out perfectly light and fluffy (may need to microwave a little more or less depending on your wattage), great with icecream, wouldnt suggest using cream cos it soaks it up like a sponge!

No worries, but you might not thank me once you realise how easy it is to make and you probably always have the ingredients in the house
