Hi All...

Soon it will be time to move on from the capsule. And I need to know info on carseats, we have a car that can have isofix... but i'm not sure if it is worth it as there are not many isofix carseats?

Don't really know where to start! I think my girl is going to be quite tall, and a reasonably good weight to boot (both hubby and i are over 6ft...) We plan to have more, so it probably does not have to be able to work as a booster - just a good rear facing and forward facing carseat - a booster would be a plus though! Any advice is more than welcomed.

We have evenflo symphony - and just yesterday installed it in car that has isofix for the first time (yay, new car with enough room for groceries and the pushchair!!). Isofix was really easy to use, perhaps easier than the locking clip. It is an all-in-one seat, so RF, FF and booster. We chose it cos it took up the least amount of room in the front seat when it is RF - but it's been a really good seat so far in all other respects. (we also have a second seat, a cosco scenara - good as a second seat, but I do like aspects of the evenflo better so am always pleased to get back to that one!!) Info about it is on baby on the move website.

The best Isofix carseat you can get is the Radian XTSL. It is also the best you can get when just using a normal seatbelt IMO.

You can rear face your girl until she is 20kg, then turn her around and forward face her until 36kg. It is a very tall seat so she should be in it until at least 5 years old. Baby on the move have them, and its best to try it in your car first to see if it fits as it doesnt fit in some.

Plunket now recommends you rear face until 2 years of age, and the longer you can the safer it is for you child. There are a few threads on here about the Radian, you will find that everyone who has one loves it and totally recommends it.

I wouldn't worry about whether or not it's an isofix seat. Just choose the one that best suits your needs and budget (I'm a radian fan myself - check out the extended rear facing thread for more info if you like), but it's perfectly safe to use a seatbelt installation if the seat is designed for it, and likewise for isofix. So choose a carseat and then opt for the best install, be it seatbelt or isofix.

Great thanks :) From what I see that carseat is around $500 which is totally reasonable.

I would love to rear face her past 1 year also..... great thanks!
