Hi,

Can you please vote for my SIL little brother http://www.doyourthing.co.nz/2011-02865/nathan-rew - AMP Scholarship Nathan Rew

There's a sad story behind this family lost their mum to cancer 10yrs ago and their father committed suicide 4yrs ago.

Please vote for Nate, to help him get through Uni and fulfill his dream...

Thanks

Voted!

Not to say anything about him, but Clinical Psych is a HARD program to get into! I know at Akl Uni they only take about 11 people per year, tough. I thought that's what I wanted to do when I was his age, and it didn't work out, and honestly, had I known what I know now, I would do it totally differently! For instance, becoming a clinical psychologist takes min 8 years full time, but you can be a key-worker and still work clinically with a social work or nursing degree. Sorry, will stop babbling now! But if he ever wants to talk mental health career paths, I would be totally happy to chat to him! Mental health is a fantastic field to work in, I hope he gets there!

What'll he do if he gets the 10 grand, but doesn't get into clinical psyc?

I would have voted, but already voted for my brother... on the other hand, I shouldn't have wasted my vote, because he wants to be a chopper pilot and although $10,000 would be great it wouldn't be nearly enough - he'd have to win one of the actual $50,0000 awards to be able to make a start at it.

Thank you ladies.

JadeC thats a very lovely offer, have let him know. He knows its hard, he's got his heart set on it though.

Not sure Hopes, he's so set on Clinical Psychology, he will probably do something in mental health, he has all these podcasts and things that he listens to about psychology. He cracks me up when I let DD cry as a baby when she was meant to be napping he started this speel about how it was good she was crying and it teaches them to be independant and all that sort of thing. He will definitely still do Uni, its all he talks about and is so set to get there. Very focused young boy, deputy head boy at Dilworth, decided that he didn't want to play 1st 15 but would play 2nd because of his school work and doing scholarships in classics, history etc

He sounds very focused, sounds like he will do well! There's heaps he can do to pad his cv for getting into ClinPsych while he's studying (like volunteering etc) so it's great that he's planning so far ahead!

Sounds good!! Hopefully he's applying for other awards too? (I work with scholarships, and he sounds like a dream applicant, that's all).

Oh he also is part of an investment group at school, they have some ridiculous amount of money to spend and they are helping children and woman in africa.

The girl who is his contact lives up the road from his family home and she started the charity up herself, she has some disturbing stories about worms haha

Very well rounded and mature kid. I think he probably will haven't seen him to ask
