Ooh me! I think by my very vague estimation that I may be due first week of march...that or I'll end up having a leap year leap day baby! Either way I thought I'd come say hi... Hi! And congrats to all other march mummas too;)

Yay! It's here. According to my Ov date I'm due 2nd March. LMP dates me end of Feb so I've been wondering if I might get a leap year babe too! I think that'd be quite cool.

Can't wait to see more mumma's to be in here soon!

Yay for March bubs! My EDD is 3rd (ish) March according to Ov and HCG levels but Feb 25th by LMP. I'm going with Ov and HCG though - only because I can pinpoint the Ov due to obsessive charting hehehe.

Morning ladies. March could be me. I have been too afraid to test due to a miscarriage that had me in hospital in December. I don't track my monthlys but I know it has been some time - I think roughly 6 weeks since my last. Have been taking elevit for 2 weeks, now just need the courage to test.

I got some HCG results back today which were 740 so I think thats good.
This is our 3rd bub that we have been trying for for about 14 months.

Oh hey Laurz, I'm not IN ChCh. Hubby working there. We're in Hanmer Springs but looking to move in between, maybe Amberley way. Think I've got my midwife, we spoke briefly yesterday and she's gonna ring today. They seem really good here - they like to meet you before 12 weeks to give you support whatever happens.

I take it you haven't got one yet?

Wow, I see you are almost exactly the same way along as me! Yay!

I will hopefully be getting my 2nd lot of hcg levels back today. In fact, maybe I'll ring soon.

Nah I havent got one yet I was waiting for my HCG levels to come back because of previous MC's I didnt want to get ahead of myself.
I have left a msg on a MW's answering machine as shes on leave until next week. I dont know whether to ring some more or just wait....Apparently they fill up really fast here so im a little reluctant to wait.

I'd say to just get in there. The MW's I spoke to agree that they book up quick, and you want the right one for you. And, if you have m/c worries, (I do too) then it's good to have someone on hand for advice/support.

Its nice to hear that others are going to have them close together too.

We had a rough night. The little man ended up at after hours with pneumonia! And I'm now stressing that maybe I was standing too close when he had his chest xray and its somehow affected the baby. I did tell them countless times that I was pregnant but I'm still worrying...I had forgotten that constant sense of worry that I had last time I was pregnant!

Posted By: Laurz_20
Date Posted: 01 July 2011 at 8:48am
Oh no I hope your little man is ok George09.
It will be ok about the xray. I broke my ankle and had about 5 xrays and went under a general when I was pregnant with DS but I didnt know I was pregnant (only about 5 weeks). They told me my baby would be fine and he was:)

Thanks Laurz thats reasuring! Antibiotics seem to be helping the wee man, his oxygen saturation is back up which is great!

I did some research online this morning and it all said that modern xray machines emit pretty low levels and you would have to have multiple pelvic xrays before 8 weeks for there to be any increased risk to the baby...so I can stop worrying about that!

Just done a test and it looks like I'm due around 6th March!

Already have an adorable 18 month old and lost number two at about 13 weeks, so hopefully things will go well this time.

Welcome Karri, great to have another March mummy here.
Queasiness seems to have eased off since I've stopped drinking coffee, hurray! Mind you it is still very early days...

Has anybody else been getting back pain? I know crampy twinges are normal, but my lower back has been killing me - thinking I may have to surrender my beloved high heels!

It's hard to tell if my backache is pregnancy related or disc injury related!! I don't remember the last time I ever wore heels. Long long time ago, that's for sure!

Oh you're good though, with the no coffee. I've gone down to 1 a day. So ridiculously exhausted it scares me trying to live without it! But, the nausea might begin to help! Gotta look on the bright side!

Any scans coming up soon? I'm hoping my MW will do a 6 week one. FX!

I'm a coffee fiend, Reffinej, I only stopped because it was making me feel so bleugh! It's the first time in about 3 years I've gone more than 24 hours without coffee, no doubt my mood has been reflecting this!
As for heels - I'm 5'2 and I teach Year 5 so I need them to tower over the kids hehe. Interesting to hear you've got backache too though...
When is your MW appointment Reffinej? From what my GP said 6/7 week scans are pretty standard now, although I've heard my MW doesn't always do them.

Ive switched to decaf at home and will treat myself to full strength when out, have a few coffee groups with 1st baby, so cant give up coffee entirely

No scan form yet, will be waiting til 8 weeks, Id prefer to see the hb for definite, rather than go to early and be worried, will probably go to docs on monday to start bloods, hoping she'll be as nice as last time and let me have 3 lots :)

Heels??? Remember faintly what they are

Ah, I feel silly wearing heels because then I would tower over my husband!

Jeez, MS is really not much fun. Seems to get worse each morning and last for ages. I swear I'm on the brink of actually being sick one of these days I take it symptoms rise as hcg levels do? Or maybe that's just some of them. Either way, the past few days I've woken up feeling worse than the previous morning. Oh joy!

Off on 'adventures' today, including a dog training class. Not sure how enthusiastic I feel about it all today. Oh well, it'll be good for Mr.Pup.

Have a good weekend all x

She owns her place there... but totally you know how it is. Everyone there knows each other - small towns! So she might know something PM me what you're looking for and I will ask if she knows of anything and I will get back to you! Haha :) She might be renting out the place behind her once it's built... but trying to sell it I think.

Well I'm on a waiting game. Went to Dr this arvo and his (2) tests came back negative! He is really confused about it all given that I got 2 positive tests at home. Have to wait and week and see what happens (ie, if AF arrives!) If I remember though, when preggo last time it took a while to get nice strong tests at home so maybe its just me

Fingers crossed in a weeks time I will still be here! Kind of getting excited about it all!

Hey Rachamos I had strong BFP's at home and then a faint BFP at doctors and that was 4 wks and 3 days. My bloods then came back at 740 so i am thinking that the doctors tests aren't that sensitive.
What kind of test did you use?

Congrats March mummies-to-be!

Laurz - just thought I'd comment about Chch MWs. I contacted one when I was 5 weeks 3 days, met her 2 days later. Decided to book her and turned out I got her last spot. The really awesome/lovely MWs tend to book up here super early, so best to get onto it early. And even if the worst does happen *touch wood* you have someone knowledgeable and supportive there to organise anything.

Good luck ladies!

Congrats more March Mummies

Got the pregnancy confirmed at the docs, took a few seconds for the line to appear, so they definitely not that sensitive and went for bloods too, will have 2 more bloods to check the rise and if its all going well then no more, scan form too, will go around 8 weeks

A lot more tired the last couple of days, hard with a baby, no snoozing on the couch like last time

Laurz - I've heard she's lovely! Hope you end up with her. I have Elizabeth Clink, she's independent, but holds clinic out of the Domino Midwives rooms. I absolutely adore her, she's been very thorough (have had a few issues), and she's an experienced high risk MW. Awesome sense of humour, and is quite laid back too. There are a few recommendations for Chch MWs in the 'recommend your MW' thread if you get stuck.

Laurz last time I used Kate from Domino Midwives and think I will go with her again. Had a couple of the others there also and with my first MC had Karen and she was really nice (even though I never actually met her and just spoke over the phone). They seem really good and 'to the point' which is what I liked

Yay congrats to all the new March Mummys. I wonder if any of us will end up having a leap year baby!

I am getting frustrated at how long its taking to get our blood test results back! With my last pregnancy I developed some antibodies so we had to have DH tested last week to see if he has the corresponding protein, if he does then it means I'll have to go through the high risk clinic....I'm getting a bit impatient to know either way!

Posted By: emmakm
Date Posted: 05 July 2011 at 11:58am

I second what rachamos said... Kate at Domino is awesome. She's there whenever I go to see my MW, and seems really friendly, and if we've been waiting awhile always asks if we're ok.

Kazza you might have OV a little later than you thought? My doc told me you cant tell by a single HCG if your results are good its whether they increase like they should.
Is your doc sending you for another?

Kazza, laurz right, you need to have another to see how much its increasing, 71 seems to be within the correct level for your gestation, Ive asked for 3 checks, hoping to get first result tomorrow :)

Got a quick question... for those of you who have met with a midwife already, did you go in armed with a list of questions? Everything I've read says you should go in ready to ask a lot of questions, while I'd kind of assumed that they were things that would just come up along the way.
Am I just disorganised with this or is all the stuff I'm reading a bit over enthusiastic? (yep, cue the preggy neurosis)

Don't stress Inkedpixie...I was exactly the same with my first MW visit with my wee man. She asked me at the end of the appointment if I had any questions and I just kind of sat there still feeling a bit stunned that this was finally happening! After that I got in the habit of writing down any questions that came up between appointments so I could ask them at my next visit.

I'm feeling quite sore today, but remember being the same last time so am trying not to stress about it. Also we got our blood results back finally and are being refered to the high risk clinic at the hospital,

I think you need to find out a few things about a midwife before you decide if you like her or him cos you need to trust them and feel comfortable with them, so maybe just a few questions on birthing/contact ie text/emails/calls etc

Im not really that sure cos the first one I met seemed nice and was going to see her at 12 weeks but miscarried and with Alex I decided to go with birthing unit midwives, so I wouldnt feel bad about asking silly questions at 2am as they would have a mw on duty lol I really liked the one I met, older and very down to earth, so hoping to get her again, I birthed at hospital and my mw couldnt birth there but didnt matter to me and the hospital mw's were awesome

Thanks ladies, I've met this midwife a couple of times away from work and we got along really well, and a friend is under her care and very happy (hence the reason I'm going to her now). Think I'll take tomorrow as it comes and then get some questions clear in my head for next time

Feeling the tiredness tonight, have been forcing myself to stay up since just after 6 o'clock! Bedtime soon I think...

Hi ladies, I'd love to join you. I'm hoping I'm not jinxing myself by getting in too early. We started TTC #2 in May, got pregnant that month and miscarried on June 1. I haven't had AF yet and got a very faint BFP on July 4. So all a bit mixed up. I'm not totally confident yet but am fx'ed! If it's all go I'm due on March 7. Please add me.

Re midwives, I agree. At this stage you just want to get a feel for whether you think you can 'work' with this person. They should go through what they do, but generally ask about where they birth, contacting them, what if they are away when you birth (especially if they are independent) etc. Lots of other stuff will come up later and it is never to late to change. You are more than welcome to change whenever throughout your pregnancy so if half way down the track you don't like them, then you can change!

Good luck! Is pretty hard first time round cause you are so nieve (sp?) to everything and don't know WHAT to ask!

Hi Ladies

Just regarding the HCG level test, is it normal that my doctor hasn't told me to get another one done after my first...? This is my first pregnancy.

How's everyone feeling today?
I've had a bit of AF like cramping and feel rather tired, but nothing too major.

I booked my dating scan for the 18th July! I think I'm about 4 1/2 weeks along, but looking forward to having the date confirmed!

lots of doctors will just request one to confirm the pregnancy, I requested serial because I had a mc in 2009 and knew by the numbers that it wasnt a viable pregnancy

Kazza Im in your boat - low levels, only 170 at 5 weeks, will go again tom and hopefully get results on Friday, was gonna wait til Monday but now I need to know

Rachamos, I'm from Auckland. Thanks for the welcome.

To follow-up I did another test today - it was still faint but stronger this time. Do you think I should be worried about it only being faint at what should/could be 5weeks pregnant? Sorry for the naivety but you guys all seem really across HCG tests - is this what the standard bloods to get on first docs visit tests for? Should I be worried that my line is only faint and going to check if its viable or not? Or just wait longer? With DD I was oblivious to all of this but since having a mc last month (and it being so soon after) I'm a bit on edge....

I love hearing about symptoms NowMrsSmith - it makes me feel like it's all heading in the right direction. I've had cramping too, fatigue, a gross taste in my mouth, nausea and a few tears. How about other ladies? Anyone else got nausea this early?

LucysMama some people don't have much success with hpt but have perfectly fine pregnancies a friend of mine never got a bfp at home but had a great pregnancy!
Went to see the mw today, DF thinks she's as great as I do so I've signed up with her, yay! She put my edd at end of feb but said not to worry too much about it till I get the 12 week scan, so I'll be hanging out in here and the Feb thread, just to hedge my bets.

LucysMama, theres a small possibility that it could be left over hcg from your mc but unlikely given other symptoms, Id pop to the docs anyway, like Inkedpixie said some pregnancies just dont seem to register that great on preg tests. The internet tests I used took ages to show up and was pretty faint, whereas the Discover test both lines appeared at the same time.

I never had any symptoms at all during my 1st pregnancy. Apart from being tired, that was it. It is hard as I had had a mc before and was in constant 'knicker watching' for the first 12 weeks....not that much has changed now. Still no AF!

Well, I've had no symptoms today - cramping has stopped! I get worried when I do have cramping, and then worried when I don't.

Can you tell this is my first?

Hope you are all feeling good today!

Symptoms today are massive boobs! Am going to have to go get a new bra! No morning sickness though both my sister's didn't get it so am hoping that's hereditary. Lots of little twinges and feels like period pain stretching today.

As a side topic - how do I change my user name - don't want to be "guest" for the duration!

Hi ladies,
Hoping to join your thread
I have come from the infertility threads after TTC # 2 for 16 months, we did 2 rounds of IUI (same as with DD) and finally got our BFP. I think my due date is 2nd March but it will be confirmed on my scan on 21st July
I had DD 2 weeks early tho so there is a chance it may be Feb. So far this preg is different to DD as not alot of symptoms but with her I was sick as a dog already by now. Cant wait for the scan so i can see the heartbeat and know all is ok. Had hcg bloods last monday and results were 22341 at 5 weeks so I guess that's a good sign?

LatestarterLorna sorry to hear about your spotting, I bleed for weeks with my DD and she still made it through, I really hope that this is the case for you. Hugs.
