Hi all,
My brother lives overseas and is looking at buying a cot and getting it shipped to him via Amazon. They are looking at getting a cot with a spring base (and a spring mattress) and he has asked my advice. I can't find any spring base cots here in NZ to compare with and I can't see why a cot would have a spring base (babies are so light it seems comfort overkill!). Is there are reason (safety?) why no one sells these in NZ? Any comments gratefully received.
Also I remember reading somewhere something about drop side cots, they are being regulated/banned? Can anyone remember this?! Thank you!!!

I don't think a spring base would meet our safety regulations. If you want spring then go for a mattress.

The drop sides is also a safety concern, not sure if or when they are going to make them "not met NZ safety". My SIL brought her cot back from Europe & it has fixed sides, she could not sell it on TM because of that...that was a few yrs ago now. I have seen fixed side cots on TM.

While babies are light & can be wrapped up so they don't move about, it does not take long before they can & will & the safer your cot is the more use you will get out of it.
