I'm hoping to go down to Christchurch for about a week at the end of August and I was hoping one of you lovely ladies would know if there is anywhere cheap and cheeful I could stay with my little man?
I'd like to stay in or near Riccarton since that's the only area I know, but anywhere that isn't too far East would work. (nervous out of towner, fault lines intimidate me  )
All I really need is room for a rather large portacot, a fridge, jug and a way to make him dinner. We could survive on takeaways for dinner and healthy snacks for everything else for a few days if need be. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

http://www.aalton.co.nz/ - This motel is great. It's on Riccarton Road, we stayed there for a few weeks after the Sept quake when we had to leave our house. The units are nice and they are cheap - around $85 per night I think.
BTW, there are fault lines everywhere, even one directly through the CBD, you can't escape them
